- This is a LOL buddy movie. It is is the third episode of Tom and Scott's Excellent Adventure. Episode 197. This episode takes us further on the adventure and gives much more detail about this FAB Mustang. Also, there is the little matter of the near impounding of the car by the CHP. The title is inspired by the 1988 movie, "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." Time travel is involved. As ever fast car owner knows, the faster you go, the slower your body clock moves.

The cop asks : " is this how you drive a customer's car " ?
Answer : " Uh Yeah, this is how the customer will be driving it, so we need to make sure it hold up...uh uh officer "
I cant believe Tom still has a license.
What a sweet setup! ITB's make everything sound better! It's a testament to NRE that you can hear the engine over those helical/straight cut gears though. Every trans I've been around with helical gears are usually louder than the engine!
not only is he a good engine builder, he can really drive these monsters
This is how you drive your customers cars?
That CHP officer obviously didn't have a clue what kind of customers Tom has or he wouldn't of asked such a dumb question. lol
Clearly this cop was not a car guy.
score another one for *"REASONS CALIFORNIA DESERVES NONE OF MY MONEY"*
Been watching this for years and it never gets old. The best sound ever by NRE
This may be the best sounding American car I've ever heard!
I want that transmission and viper rear end in my car
Hey Nelson, you done it again brother. You always seem to amazed me, I have a 2004, 2.8lc K.B cobra terminator fully blown done by the other Nelson on the East Coast at Evolution Performance. WHP and TQ is about the same as your rating from the motor you created, the amazing thing is that you have achieved it naturally aspirated. Back in 2003 the man himself John Colletti, stated that the guys was working on an 5.4litter naturally aspirated motor for the terminator but it just didn't have the kick he was looking for, so they went supercharger. I think he should have commissioned you for the build up, maybe then ford would not have received so much hate mail for using supercharge motors back then. Times have change almost every car manufacturer is using some form of power adder today. The look on your face when drove through the tunnel at 7:34 in the video is priceless. Your work speaks for itself and your engineering knowledge is 2nd to none. Keep the excellent work coming.
funny thing, Ford used Paxtons going back to the 312 Y block in 1957. Studebaker did too.
The mullet helmet, and the casino limo. Wow!
Tom's laugh sounds like Burt Reynolds laugh at 12:40 into the video lol...
I build the most amazing racing engines in the world yes this is how i drive my customers car!
well they have to be tested lol
Oh shit 'The Man' ... Extra .5" is all she needed, insane sounds...
Wow! That is one awesome Stang. I love the sound of it.
Awesome car, and great build, that would be a blast to drive. Alas, on the road, it is simply a ticket magnet. I'm afraid I would be banned from the road rather quickly with this beast for lack of a drivers license. Track only, and more of a show piece than anything else, but an awesome show piece at that.
You guys are crazy and your shop is in the valley were I live. Very nice.
Most excellent, dude (cue the air guitar).
Tom, your laugh reminds me of oldschool Burt Reynolds. Watch outtakes at the end of Cannonball Run with Burt and Dom Deluise. Classic.
What a nice rad sounding car!!
best sounding car youve ever built!!!
Well yeah that's how I drive my customers car because 1. he is probably going to drive it worse 2. I don't want it to blow up on him because I didn't test it 3. I'm putting it on UA-cam so he can see it, and absolutely most importantly I can and it dang fun!!! peel out
did it sound like a dfv when it went through the tunnel? I kinda got that from the one shot when the camera was on the ground at the exit of the tunnel. sounds deadly!!! I'd like to hear a 9000+rpm version of that kinda setup!!
Mark Nope That'd be sick!!!
+Mark Nope i'd like to see that too!
Garrett Nelson what type of camshaft does this engine have?
Ernesto Gonzalez WOW, I forgot about this comment! Anyways, I tried to find the cam but to no avail. You will have to ask someone else. BTW I am in no way affiliated with NRE; my last name just happens to be Nelson.
When you get pulled over, find a safe spot for the cop to approach (hopefully he's smart enough to approach on the passenger side, but most aren't), don't take off your belt or a grumpy cop will write you up for that, keep hands on top of the wheel so he can see them. Once he's got his eyes on you, then you have plenty of time to reach for your paperwork while you announce what you're doing. As for the cop asking if this is how a customer's property is driven, imagine your valet driver handling your car like this--you'd ask that question, too. The cop was right to wonder why this isn't tested on a track where a shunt off road wouldn't ding up the fenders. We all like to have fun, but cops get to clean up the mess, and that's why they get so hard on you.
(VINs on early Mustangs are found on the driver door or under the hood next to where the driver's front fender bolts onto the engine comparment. Something to keep in mind when you do a MII front suspension swap and cut it all away)
Damn....now I'm thinking about that Windsor swapped in place of the 302 in my 2200 lb street race Pinto. I'd be ordering M/T drag radials by the boxcar lot....and going through them even faster!
really like that intake setup !!!
Your forgetting about the LS7, that with the same induction would be impressive... nevertheless that is a nice Stang and deserves the matching motor.
Dude!!!!!!!!! that last thing you should ever, ever, ever, do is take down your cameras! that is your insurance policy. Youre lucky you got a straight shooting cop.
most of the time but I think he was going over 100 which they can take you to jail for in Cali its considered reckless driving a 2 pt missdemeanor so in his case wouldn't want to annoy the cop...
Love IT, Greets from Germany 💪😊
GUY'S I LOVE IT MAN....THATS REAL AS IT GET'S......THANK'S FOR THE RIDE GREAT CAMERA SHOT'S......BEST ONE YET AND I FELT LIKE I WAS IN THE CAR WITH YA....I WAS GOING OOOH FUCK WHEN YA PASSED THE COP.......HEHEHE NEVER EVER STOP .......HELL YEAAAAAA
......AT 6-5 370 IM A BIG FAN....LOL
Great car and the coolest CEO ever!
I love the sound and the car run it hard or why build it.
Think of how badass it'd be with an LS!
The guy in the passenger seat, looks like Stephen King. Kind of trippy.
A true craftman!!!
if I win lotto your my first call. Your cars are incredible
I need to hit the lotto asap so I can buy one
Cop: License, registration, insurance please.
Tom: This is a customer's car, so I don't have his registration on it.
Cop: Is this how you drive a customer's car? (Unintelligible.)
Tom: Is that what it was? (shrugs) Yeah.
LOL
Damn that sounds so good!
how much does it cost to make this ride? is 100 grand even close? would love to know the build cost PLS!!
maybe not a v8 that sounds like a bike, but if it revs like a bike im sold haha that thing screams
Well this is awesome! Great Car, funny guys, a good day and police :D
The trans is pronounced ( KWÂFE ) the kw sound is QUA- A -FF PS. Ya look like Nicolas Cage. Right on man 👍🖒
To people that said he should have just kept going... Really, do you honestly think any car is fast enough to escape a network of CHP interceptors, choppers, and fixed wing aircraft? It works better in the movies. I've moved up north now and forgot how many slick cars are in Ca
Can someone tell me what is a small/big block?
American Cars are very rare in my Country.
Big Respect to NRE .. You build amazing Engines!
Cubic inches 400 signifies 4" piston 3.5" stroke=small block. Usually anything over 4" piston is a big block
going across the bridges looks like getting shot out of a cannon
very good job !!
Where do I buy one? :D
Faces at 10:22 'Shit, we've done it this time.'
Nice
"formula 1 hotrod" & "sounds like a bike" lmao what a bonehead muscle car meathead thing to say LMAOO "LIKE A BIKE, LIKE A F" AHAHAHA ohh what a good fukin' laugh I had. Anyways, cool build! Love me some high revving Ford's over those lazy pushrod
why you no downshift and runn
Was wondering if there's a timing control system I can use on my dodge,??
It's there for a reason sir...
Is this how you drive a customer's car? HAVE YOU SEEN IT? DID YOU NOT HEAR THAT THING ROAR? Of course that's EXACTLY what he meant to do lol
Crack up...you Rock Tom...
Gymkhana 7 ! ! !
I knew I heard this screamer elsewhere ......
Freak'n AWESOME Bro !!!
Make more videos and cars like this asps good shit so awesomme
12:40 I think I heard Burt Reynolds laughing in the background.
Hey Tom , You know why that cop pulled you over ? Cause you let him , lol !
how do i get one of these.
Sounds awesome!!! Good work nelson!
Around 16:20 he says he never even thought about turning the radio on ? The sound from under the hood is music to MY ears. He should produce soundtracks from his "machines". Can't afford his cars, play an NRE soundtrack while driving your own car.
Sick!
The funniest part of the vid was with that guy with the hairy helmet, and that stretched Hummer. Nice car but too many scenes from part 1.
Is it possible to build the same set into a Ford Maverick (70's)?
this vs. the 1500 HP camaro w/ the twin turbo hot rod series engine in it. which would win?
Hey Tom, why 2000 HP engines? "Why not?" isn't good enough... I mean, I'm not hating, hell yeah, bring on the power! But my question is, why have an engine with all that power when 800-1000 horsepower can be put down to the ground just as easily in a street car? I've been a loyal follower for some time, and enjoy every video you put up. But why not just build something where you can utilize every single bit of power that the car is making, or... Can you show us this thing stretching its legs? ;)
I need one!!!
Work and play, few can...
Its a well design drive train but why go with straight gears on a street car? It prolly will never see the track and customer will probably be back for a change. Nice build tho.
Freaking Amazing!!
What is up with the wood blocks?
solisest
can't teach common sense
Hell Yesenor
post yourself breaking the law.way to go bro
Hilarious @10:19 mark!!!
I hate being pulled over for dumb ass shit I do, but I'm glad the cops are out in the roads.
Fuck yes! that is awesome!
love it
Don't know why he blurred out the cop's face and altered his voice. It's a matter of public record.
Holy fockin shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
thumbs up if one of these is on ur lottery list ;)
Lets see some diesel work Tom.
after watching the rest of the video 100 grand for this build isent even close...
If I had the money he would have my business! That's what he builds them for. Look how Tom dyno's all his motors? I'm sure he has some fail but that's why I would want him to put it thru some hard paces.
Man, I really want to know what the ticket was written for... didn't look like they were moving very quick when the cop got them.
Passed the lotus and came around the corner @ 35 indicated, accelerated through two gears, going to take a stab and say you were going about 90mph?
That is easily the most beautiful sounding engine I have ever heard. Thank you.
Sounds almost or as good as the Chevy DZ 302
Jeffrey Isbell it sounds amazing, another great sounding engine to listen to is holdens 304 motor
Been watching this annually for 8 years now. Just a wonderful sound
why are there so many car guys in California when California does everything they can to get rid of them
good question.
C.W._Clearing well obviously because California’s the best place to drive them 🙂. Nah, but you know, some people focus on upholding safe and healthy standards and others focus on pleasure.
Drag racing was born in California.
business
I want to buy a condo on the same block as his shop..ahh the sounds and smells every day
To each their own..Never been a ford guy, Grew up on Chevy it's all I've ever owned but THAT mustang is the best looking car ford has ever made! and the fact that tom got his hands on it just makes it that much better! In my eyes Tom and his designs are the wave of the hot rod and HP future!
amazing motor! His engines are the best! I allways use a radar dector in everthing I drive! You really need to invest in one.
This is my favorite Nelson video by far. Would have loved to hear how fast the cop said they were going. Toms reaction is priceless. "Is that what was,,,, Yea."
I love our hard-working officers but what kinda dick has the balls to ticket the master atop of his stead. Seriously, if I were that cop's coworker I would kick his ass just outta respect. Breaking the law is wrong, but this was R&D and nothing is more omnipotent than Nelson"s Racing engines R&D ! Nothing !!
12:17
*disapation of stress usually induces hysterical laughter..*
"This is how you drive a customers car?"...smfh...lmfao...if only the CHP officer knew what a gentle cruise that was compared to most.
@nelsonracingengines
Super impressed with ALL of the work you guys do. Can you please tell me or message me on how much money a machine like that cost to build out of your shop? I know it's in the six figure range, but how deep? $120k, $150k, $180k, or maybe more perhaps?
Again...two thumbs up! First class all the way! I love it!
That thing is a wicked beast....sounds better than anything out there
fucking pigs always have to ruin the fun love the car love everything you've done every one a masterpiece love maximus the most wickedest 68 charger ever should be put in the shithsonian institute your cars blows foose and trepanier and everybody else out of the water when i hit the six fourty nine that's the lotto here in ontario canada i'm putting my order in for a 70 cuda hemi of course i love your video's i love that your cars are so streetable but the number one thing i love about N.R.E. is your attention to the littlest detail because it's all in the detail fucking right your attention to detail is nothing short of impeccable as the british would say bloody brilliant! hope to someday call there and accualy get to talk to you in person the fucks will be flying for sure ha.ha.ha.it doesn't matter what the brand make you build you just have to love it because it's another Nelson masterpiece and you just take in all the beautiful detail and you just ooze with envy for the lucky bastard who's taking delivery of that baby lol!
darren brisson but don't forget grade 9 class today
Luke Leukoderm lmao
Was it Zimmer? Love his "if I ever see you..." dirka dirka dirka at the end. Gotta love the Nanny State.
I would be the coolest cop. I'd be like, "Holy shit dudes, you know how fast you were going?". "What's this fucken thing cost?" "Can you take a picture of me in the drivers seat?" "I hate my life"
Diggin ur shit! Keep up the great work NRE, can't wait to see what you do next. Big fan
.
I would choose this car over every car they have done
Een Mcqueen its def nice!!! As for me id rather see it in a 69 mach 1..just cuz i love mach1s
