I like how her air bending is still “aggressive”, much like when she bends other elements.
I think because of her nature, air bending is naturally (or culturally?) use to subdue and evade, but Korra almost always never backs down in a fight so her attackes are all offensive, and that includes air.
Airbending and Firebending go hand to hand like Chocolate and Peanut Butter.
Being a Firebender and learning Airbending Techniques.
Or how Zaheer Is an Airbender but he fights a lot like a Firebender with his aggressive style.
It's what I love about avatar. That you can Wield one element while being able to wield the other nations techniques.
You even notice that Firebending and Airbending have similar moves to each other.
Plot twist: when korra went into the avatar state to win the air scooter race aang actually took over to play with his grand kids

It's really interesting to see how differently she airbends than Aang. Obviously she would, since she wasn't born an Airbender, but they still executed it really well.

She airbends like she firebends early on but you csn see her develop more 'traditional' airbemding techniques as the series goes on.
I wish she airbended more in Book 1.

How was she able to use airbending to climb in the tree of time in 1:14? The avatar can only bend the 4 elements because Raava makes it possible, she was separated from Raava a few moments ago, how can she airbend here?
That was the case in the beginning cuz no human can receive more than 1 element
But korra (or any other avatar) is born with the ability to bend all 4 elements and ravaa only provides the avatar state , tenzin told her that she still has the elemnts

Honestley it's like korra doesn't even get what being the avatar means, for instance airbending is more than blasting air out of your hands and feet there's the spiritual side that goes with it like medatating and other things, and don't get me started on the avatar state, a state that allows her to acess all the knowlege and power of her past lives and as roku explained it being a defence mechanism, not only that but a double edge sword since the avatar state is when they are the most powerful and vanurable cause if she gets killed it will break the cycle breaking the connections of the avatars both past and future, yet she used as a booster to win a stupid air scooter race.
Yes that is the point of her character development to understand what is to be the avatar in the modern era. Aang and korra dont have the same personality so the airbending style wouldnt be the same just like how kyoshi, roku and kuruk would do air bending differently. Korra isnt groomed to be a pacifist like aang
She isnt an air nomad so a culture focused on meditating would be foreign to her personality. Just like how most of the new air benders in season 3 arent gonna have all meditative persona.
Tenzen was taught by aang himself and isnt as spirit gifted as jinora his own daughter.
Thing is what korra has over aang is that she has never lowerd her guard when using avatar state and always checks for blind spots. Sealing vattu does not count since using a 4 element sphere to seal vatuu would take all avatar concentration
@@tornedoley yeah but during season 2 she kept whining and arguing the fact no one was listening to her or considering her opinion wanting to prove to tenzin and her dad or any adult completely ignoring that her friends valued her even mako who was her bf at the time if they didn't agree with her she kept thinking they were against her to angry to see that they weren't and that'smainly why they broke up, and it was because of that anger and frustration it made it easy for her evil uncle to manipulate her into opening the portals to free vaatu.

We have to undersatamd aang is the way he was because of nomads teaching. Point is was for korra to understand that there is a time amd place for avatar duties.
Also recall that in the avatar cycle the rava make sure the next avatar has a personality thst makes up for the previous one. Aang was not passionate about being an avatar nor does he try to directly confront the conflict. Shows by the fact that he wanted to wait after the comet to fight ozai. And by being scared of the concept of being an avatar and left the temple. The storm is the reason he encased himself in ice so wont fault him there.
Korra is born to be passionate about being the avatar and wants to directly confront conflict. She grew 17/18 years of being sheltered and being told shes a chosen one so like in most real life cases its understandable that she is stubborn. She therefore has to learn concequemces of being that
@@tornedoley yeah she kinda reminds me of a combo zuko and toph during atla but she eventually leaned to be more patient and more understanding of her role as the avatar.
@@tornedoley Of course aang didn't want to be the avatar, especially after what the monks put him through they sprang the news that he was the avatar 4 years before they were supposed to, treating him like he was an object or an adult and even wanted to send him away from his home, away from gyatso cause they cared more about maintaining the balance then aang who was only a child, that's why he ran away and even though he froze himself by accident, he was still a child bearly a teenager, expected to take down the firelord ending a century old war, a responsibility he never asked for but was forced upon him reguardless.

@@hx9801 what is wrong with that? No one complained when Zuko did it. Zuko firebent like a waterbender, airbender and earthbender. Even Iroh and Jong-Jong did it.
ok just Korra saying "punch, punch, punch" while using air bending just encapsulates why I doubt she will ever be a true airbending master. in every season we never see her truly understanding air bending philosophy except for like once in the pro-bending arena
And with that, you just demonstrated that you never watched this show. Because Korra does on multiple occasions demonstrate the use of negative jing, circular motions etc. Also, punching does not go against airbender philosophy. Aang did air jabs all the time.

It’s because she lost connection with her past lives so she had to handle it all by herself, Aang had connection with his past lives so that’s why his avatar state was more powerful
