Notes - The phone has no Google Play services, install microG app to bypass some requirements that need Google account or services but not all apps will work on it like Google Mail, UA-cam and others. - Battery last for 2-3 days in normal use and will last even longer in standby mode but if you use it all day with third party apps, it will only last a day. - Charging only takes 30 mins or half an hour to fully charge based on my observation but it will still depend on the type of cable and adapter. - The phone have only 1gb of ram so it's not fast compared to the latest smartphones, expect some delays when opening third party apps. Yep, their Flip Phones are already smartphones just not touchscreen. It's already fully featured and Japan already taking advantage of mobile internet very early on as they adopted 3G as a standard on early 2000's. You could say their phones is like Nokia N-Series back then, but bit more. They use multi media messaging (MMS) as a standard which is why emojis were popsr and sending images to each other and other media files is already common.
2002 or 2003, my sister worked in Japan and brought her phone from there, which is 100 times better than a Nokia; it can change its backlight to different colors such as orange, lemon, green, etc. It has a game like penguine that you need to catch ussing hammer.

Don’t wait for that because they will never catch up, smartphones will keep improving too and always be better. I have a Kyocera 903kc and the camera is 8 megapixels, which is wayyyy more than enough. I’ve embraced the unique aesthetic that it gives, it has it’s own vibe. For super important things you can still bring your smartphone, or a real camera, which can be fun from time to time and makes taking photos feel more special somehow

i use the same phone but in green, its really great. i also dont have any social media on it, just an app for texting and i download my mp3 songs. if u reject convinience everything else is kinda more exciting. Like just having a song in your head, and being hyped to go home and download it
I agree! The phone doesn't lag if you install less third-party apps. It's really great to listen to music in this phone everything is simple and doesn't make you addicted to checking your phone all the time.
this is literally perfect. i know Sharp is one of the biggest phone manufacturers in Japan but i am not knowledgeable when it comes to the as i only know them for their TV's, our first TV was an old Sharp, i wanna buy this to cut off my wasted or unnecessary screen time in my smartphone. i'm all for the Dumbphone Revolution lol. funny how these phones retrospectively look cool now.
I absolutely love the fact that Japan has flip smartphones, and with charms and touchpads no less! We just don't have enough of them in this world :( A bit disappointing that this one doesn't have volume buttons and headphone jack, but I guess that's a trade off for having water resistance... Also mad respect for using BlackPlayer😎 Absolutely goated. It still is The Best customizable music player UI you can get

My main concern when it comes to dumb phones is that I really need to use my phone for banking, Google Maps, and QR code scan. Banking apps won't work in old phone. Also, the security is at risk with outdated Android versions. I cannot find any detailed tutorial on setting up Micro-g, I just play with the settings instead if it will work, but not all apps relying on Google Services will work on it.
I was checking out the same keitai for some time now. I've had a Panasonic p01e during my exchange year in Japan back in 2013/14. That one sadly doesn't work in my country but the Aquos you have is compatible. I'm really nostalgic of that yeat ngl, I miss the times before Smartphones took over. Edit: you know what, I'm a big girl, I don't care if the p01e doesn't work I might buy it anyway for sentimental reasons. It made me so happy 🥹

i wish the waterproof design is this universal... but ... i guess it's also good that it isn't coz i wouldn't be letting my phone go. and my attachment is already bad enough. it's cool that the display is so crisp that it wouldn't be much of a bother that the screen is small

I absolutely love Japanese flip phones! I know most don't work over here in the U.S But I plan on buying this specific model soon just to play around with, I am thinking that it can use WIFI here just not cell service which is fine it's just something I find interesting and cool! :D
