This is why Pain is my favourite villain in the entirety of Naruto. Even after receiving numerous pulverzing blows from Naruto in his demon fox mode, he accepts that his adversary's anger is justified, and the only reason he stands opposed to him is because his pain (of losing his parents, his friends and entire childhood) is much greater. You have to respect the sincerity of his words.
Well said. He was a man who was trying to do what he thought was best for the world at the time. He had no ill will towards his enemies, he was just on a “righteous” mission. Sure he was extremely misguided, but I thought it was admirable how driven he was

The "cartoony" look of the animation in this fight really gives off this vibe that these two are on a different level than everyone else. The exaggerated movements and hyperbolic expressions convey a feeling of surrealness. Love it.

I’ve always thought that. A lot of people don’t like the artwork in this fight, but I’ve always seen it as these two moving so fast and exerting so much power that their movements are not able to be captured by regular eyes.

The part where pain is being chased by naruto just before chibaku tensei was my favourite scene as a kid. I love that characters are not so detailed.
I’ve always assumed that they animated Pain’s face so ridiculously because they were trying to show that he was just a dead body, so his flesh got smacked around in unnatural ways

It’s crazy when you think about how strong is the rinnegan. Nagato was doing this with only one path. After that they probably thought it’s too much power so they didn’t use the rinnegan full abilities anymore. Madara was spamming limbo and sauske spamming substitution jutsu. Just imagine if sasuke decided to use full powers of his eye
I don't think sasuke has all of the rinnegan abilities pain has animal path probably because contracts with the summons. I think it's half of the abilities

You lose the Rinnegan user and their two eyes to resurrect others. That is the cost of the Rinne Rebirth jutsu. If you think about it that way, it's a pretty fair trade-off, seeing as how broken the Rinnegan are.
Sasuke only has one Rinnegan. His other eye is still a Mangekyo Sharingan.
Probably one of my favourite pieces of animation ever created... the colors, the music, the sound effects, the way it's directed, everything is just so smooth, fluid and you can FEEL every movement and reaction

Remember y’all, this is extremely painful for Naruto as well. His bones readjust to mimick Kurama’s (whose body structure is like a Humanoid Fox) and he feels them move. The chakra cloak also burns him, I can’t imagine how painful that must be.
I believe when he fought orochimaru the 4th tailed had to break open Naruto's jaw to eat the chakra ball

This animation was made to underline that Pain is just a puppet. That is why pain moved extremely weird. In my opinion this fightstyle and animation is a master piece.
There was no deeper meaning to this. It was just a style used for animation and the people just didn't like it.

I'll never forget when this fight first happened and people HATED it. There were so many videos making fun of the animation, peins fighting, narutos fighting, and how ridiculous it all looked. I'm glad people have taken another look and realized that the style of animation is just really loose compared to usual

I highly doubt he’s using almighty push. Less than 5 seconds later he’s using almighty push to block naruto’s attack, and we all know it has a 5 second recharge time.
People who say this is "bad animation" OBVIOUSLY never heard of Abstract Art. This episode was beautifully done considering an evil ball of monstrosity is fighting a dead reanimated corpse. The animation is as unique as that premise.
1: the premise you're on about sounds cool on paper, but neither of them moved like this outside of this fight, the six paths of pain moved around as if the corpses weren't even dead in the first place. and naruto in nine tails wasn't turning into elastic man during his fights. if their fighting style was like that then sure I can see why you would think that.
2: animation being "unique" does not make the animation good nor bad. it may look good to you but a lot of people do not like this because the fight choreography feels out of place at best and hilarious to watch at worse. the audience shouldnt be laughing at a fight that is trying to be taken seriously (thematically and plot wise)
Ok. This fight is GREAT. But its not really "abstract." abstract is art that does not attempt to represent an accurate depiction of a visual reality. This isn't any more abstract than any other cartoon or animation. Its hard to define art, but I think you are misusing the term abstract here. Though I guest technically all cartoons are technically abstractions in a way.
