Here my two anti-tips for kite foiling : 1 dont go out foiling with LEI KITE , when wind is too low so it falls of the sky when lool hits ( lull is opposite to gust) 2. Dont go foiling in bare feet when you learn. Foil can hit you feet when you fall in front of it or right beside.
great tips autokanada! especially number 2! So true, we actually had a kiter slice his arm when he bailed on top of foil while riding, hence bare feet would be much more easier to slice bare feet! great point.

Riding foil kites for 1 year by now, and the more I ride, the less I want to go back to an inflatable kite... It has unbeatable performance. You can jump and improve Airstyle and Freeride tricks even in low winds.. The only drawback will always be the launching process
We know what you mean! Foil kites have become our go-to kites for low wind and have allowed us to improve tricks even in marginal wind. We still have our smaller (7m & 9m) inflatable kites though for high wind days, although we don't get to use them all that much here in Ontario.

However need to change with a new generation for mostly lighter winds so I was just confused which to go for either Sonic 2 or Soul 2. I really want to join to the races after having a lot practising on these new generation foil kites so it might take me maybe 2 years also to get use to foilboarding which I have just started at the end season of the last summer for 5 days.. :) So I would like to have your thoughts on foilboards as well, which one do you guys hydrofoiling with and why ? Thanks! We've tried the Sonic 2 and the Soul, and both are great. We prefer the Soul - just a more all-round user friendly kite. Feels like an inflatable with all the advantages (performance, hang time) of a foil kite. We have a CR:X foilboard that we got for an incredibly good price. That being said, you get what you pay for - and there are definitely better performing foilboards on the market depending on your budget.

So I'm a 220 lb beginning foilboarder ( straightaways OK ... no turns ) who just bought a 14 meter Chinese foil kite ( Pansh Genesis ) for light days where I can't get my 14m inflatable to stay in the air. I cannot get it to move my heavy ass. People are telling me about what your video mentions. You have to depower to actually get better performance. It is hard for me to accept because I have had an old 21meter Flysurfer Speed 3 for years and I just sweep that thing across the wind window and have all the power I can handle ( too much for a foil board ). I imagine better technique with this new kite could keep me moving on a foilboard, but I see no way how I could get a water start on light days ~10mph with this thing. For my weight, do you think I just need a bigger kite for those really light wind days ?
Hard for us to say but it could be a combination of things - could be technique and needing to loop the kite to get going in light wind, it could be that the kite needs to be slightly de powered or tuned (from what we’ve heard Pansh needs to be tinkered with), or it could just be that you need a larger kite. Sorry we couldn’t be more conclusive

My default excuse is I'm a big guy so a 160 pounder can't really offer me totally trustworthy advice. That said I have met some big guys that make it happen with small foils. Trial and error. I'll figure something out one way or the other. thanks.
Our favourite is Flysurfer Soul (we’re biased - as FS ambassadors). If it’s your first kite we would recommend a used LEI free ride kite - something that’s not too expensive/won’t hurt too much if you destroy it ;) There are many to choose from. Hope that helps!
I'm switch for a ram air foil kite. I have a Fone diablo v2. In very light days the tip bends and wrap my lines. How I avoid that? I'm looking forward to see a ram air kite video how to fix it.
Hi guys, love your channel and have watched everything. I don’t mean to hijack this thread but I’m new to the Soul / foil family and have tried to search for this topic without luck. I’ve just bought a 12m and an 18m, to give a lower end than my tube kites. I’ve had about 3 sessions on my 18m so far, on vacation in South Padre. I’m looking for some advice on how to water relaunch my new Soul when it ties itself into all kinds of weird shapes? So far I’ve been quite lucky, although it feels like I am randomly tugging lines until something it turns back into a kite shape again. Then I can launch it on the side or reverse launch. I’m sure there must be a deliberate method For making it unwrap itself- but I can’t figure out what it is ? Any advice is welcome
Most important part is patience. Also if the bridles get tangled sometimes you can swim to kite, untangle it and re launch it. For the most part patience and playing with kite is key to relaunch
I've used foil kites in shore break with waves about 2m or so and when the kite goes down I pull safety, let the kite drift towards the beach, and then a friend will grab it while I swim back. After that, I carefully drain any water, carry the kite back to the beach and untangle, and head back out :)
Hi I've just picked up the crx hydrofoil kit any tips . Top speed very little I formation out there.Have you used the 7/10/13m from the kit. Coming from the naish hover foil xx
s2oooo there are three settings for the stabilizer wing. We used 3 degrees with short mast and then 1 degree setting with long mast. We found that you have to put your back foot on top of mast with 3 degrees and in back binding when using 1 degree setting. Also we don't recommend jumping with crx foil as it easily cracks upon landings. We had to repair out from wing already due to cracking from jumping

I got a Flysurfer Speed 3 12mtr. Good kite, its the type you want for 'out in the sticks kiting' ie you wont worry about punctures.
We've had a lot of punctures on inflatables - it's nice not to have to deal with that as much anymore :)

Great info. What would be the best size to ride in 6-8 kt wind with a high lift hydrofoil? A 12m or a 15-17m?

Great video! What length are your lines with the extensions?
Thank you, we are using 6 meter line extensions, so total length is 27 meters. We used to have 32 meter lines, and that worked even better.

high aspect ratio kites do it, like diablo, soul doesn't do it. If the kite is not parked overhead easilly, don't go kite as swimming would be likely

So no particular technique then just keep playing. Do you focus on main lines or steering lines or both?
It really depends on how the kite is positioned. Unfortunately it's just one of those things - the more experience you have, the easier it gets :D

How long should the Extensions be? I got a 12qm Liquid Force Elite
where we kite at least 27 meters total line length. 32 Meters is even better, but kite turning becomes slugish.
