Hi kev i know this is an older post bud but i just had to drop a line to you bud,to say that this particular video is gold dust to me bud,my good freind has exactly the same car,and i need to change the front mac struts and their associated springs ,and your video has shown me EXACTLY WERE TO PLACE MY AXLE STANDS and alsi how to withdraw the drive shafts as i need to replace a boot too...HUGE THANKYOU BUD,,TOP MAN SIR
thought the subframe had to come down on the scenic, mr clutch put one in my 1999 1.6 scenic years back im sure it had to be dropped!. cracking job as a;ways mate!!!!!!

I never thought of leaving the battery box in wish I had known that when I done mine Surprised you got away without having to drop the subframe mine was a pain glade I watched your video good job
I agree - I owned a blue one for nine years and it was a pleasure to own, drive and maintain. Except for the leaking sunroof which I sealed up with bathroom sealant.
Hi, this is a very informative video, as I have 2001 Renalut Scenic 2.0 as well (same as the one in the VDO). One quick question. My 2.0 liter, I inherited from my parents, but there was a new gearbox installed and some parts need to be screwed back and all that. I have almost finished, but now struggle to find the clutch cable hook-in point at the pedal. It's there is none. Can you help me with a video on that?
Excelente trabajo!! Me ví reflejado al 💯 yo realizo trabajos a domicilio( mecánica) y soy muy pulcro y cuidadoso en lo que hago!!!,,mill felicitaciones!!!
Wow kev, nice one bud,,this is the same car as my good freinds car ,a scenic 2001,1.4,,,,16v,,,authentic,thisll be a fantastic help bud,,thankyou loads, stephen😊😊
Thanks for the video Kev ! I work on Renault's of that generation (I have 2 Scenic !) and this video could be very useful for me in future. You can make Subaru clutch video and you are done ! :D
One would argue that older cars are simple to work on but this car proves different. What an absolute cock of a work this car is, respect tp this guy for doing it, i dont even have the nerve to go through this video. Dude needed to remove whole engine bay to get to the clutch holy shit. How the fuck do you even manage to put all that crap back together, even if i filmed and watched the vid i would 100% have extra parts.
same amount of work for renault clio mk2 1.4, 1.6 models (2001-2005), although the 172, 182 clios would have an even bigger engine so even less room to work on so dropping subframe on one side would be required I would think
Did you ever change the clutch on Mitsubishi Colt (2004+)? I went through most of your videos, you do an amazing job, can't seem to find my car however. Keep up the good work.

21:48 Man I started this clutch replacement today, only problem i'm having is the clutch interferes with the powersteering line.. (all the way to the right in this bit) i'm thinking about removing the subframe. It looks so easy if you do it ! Haha
@WMCS Hey man, after a lot of work I managed to get everything installed and back into place. Dude thank you so much for this video! It really helped me out! You are the best!!!🎉
Great work! Love to see a Renault again. Was it boring to take the subframe off or just room enough? I was expecting another CSC but there isnt. Thanks for the video!!
Thank you. There was just enough room with a little bit of wiggle to get it through. But I think next time I get another one I’ll definitely slacken that side subframe a little bit as to make that little bit of room for some extra work space.
at 13:40 you take a nut off a long stud, then put something on the end of the stud to either unscrew it or just loosen it, not sure if the casing itself is threaded. Cant see anything on the top of the stud that looks like you could fit a socket on it after the nut comes off. Ive got to do my mk1 cabriolet 1.6 clutch and I can see this little detail holding me up. Anyone know what im likely to need to get this stud out ?
buenas tardes,Lo saludo desde Bogota,Buen trabajo me puede regalar la referencia de la herramienta que husa para alinear el disco por favor, gracias por sus excelentes videos.
Hi Kev Do u know if it’s approximatively the same work on Clio 2 (1.5dci) ? I mean, is it possible to do the job without removing the subframe ? Thanks dude
Nice job done! If i need to replace gearbox, it is neccessary remove subframe, or can be whole gearbox removed away from car this way? My gearbox output shaft lost splines, i have replacement prepared for day it stop working. Thank you! Btw nice camera view, very understandable and good explained even without words...
Hey mate, Do you use the M18 mid torque or the High torque. Ive just ordered the mid torque but not sure if i should have gone for the high. I tend to just do basic diy stuff and the odd bigger repair on the drive.

Nothing like that mate. I’m not too clued up on these things. But I’ve got a PayPal link in the description box. Thanks for the support very much appreciated
this all looks a bit daunting as I cant see anywhere to withdraw my clutch housing once its loosened. my subframe is already almost touching it. Had a mechanic quote me to do this, but he said if it was all too tight hed just cut my subframe and re-weld it rather than take it all off as its not constructed in sections that can be removed for access. 😱 think I’ll skip that.
I finished this job today, i have to say its not easy. I thought about lowering the subframe after not getting any slack in the gearbox to work with. But with alot of pain and wiggling i got the gearbox at such position that i could fit the new clutch. With the alignment tools attached it barely fits. You should really take your time working this job. I almost gave up till suddenly the gearbox shifted into an angle i could work with. It was not alot but just enough. Patience is key with this job. Goodluck!
@@AKD96070 thanks for the update. The gearbox is off and hanging on a sling, as it is theres enough room to remove the old clutch, I can see the release bearing and its fallen apart on the shaft. I need about an inch more to let the old clutch slide out and slide in the new one, no chance of doing this with the alignment tool in place so Ive cabletied the new clutch together, down through the fingers, then the springs and back up again, just a matter of snipping the cable ties and pulling them through. I can reach the bearing with a pair of forceps to wriggle it off but getting the new one on might be a pig. Im on the coast, N. E. Ireland so we get blasted by wind and rain and its been a sickener doing this on the driveway. I have a 30ft workshop beside the house with a pit but the previous owner built a 5 ft wall round the whole garden and you cant get a car into it 😡. Ah well, nothing to lose now, Renault say the engine and gearbox have to come out so thats not happening on my driveway in 25 to 50 mph winds and rain 🤗. Subframe bolts at the front are inaccessible, rear main bolts BARELY accessible but I’m betting they are on with nylon lock nuts, a proper rattle gun would strip them off if you could keep a spanner on the other nut but my 18v impact wrench is a bit of a disappointment, wouldnt do it at all.
@@AKD96070 got mine in yesterday, shockingly tight, my overhead sling made the difference, yep if you leave the alignment bolts in its just snagging every time you move it, just lined it up by eye and slipped two screwdrivers in the alignment holes to guide it in and tightened down gradually top and bottom. And as you said, withdraw it then swing it sideways and up at an angle. The old clutch was well busted, broken fingers lying in the bottom of the housing and the old bearing was four different pieces 😵 yet the car was still driving and changing gear until it wouldnt. 🤗
@roontunes i'm really glad to hear you made it work!! Goodjob! If it works it works ✅️ . My clutch was the same, broken fingers and bearing was just broken into alot of pieces. But eventually when you start her up and everything works it makes worth of your time and effort! Really nice to hear everything worked out for you!

Definitely a bullet proof car. Not over engineered. No fancy electrics.
Just an engine and a car. Simple.

To remove the gearbox completely it’s best to remove subframe. Otherwise it’ll be too much of a squeeze
What is the liquid that you used on the new clutch? Just regular oil or wd40 or liquid grease? And why did u use it?
Brake cleaner /solvent
