In the very first 30-40 mins of the movie 'Bodos' are protrayed as literally 'junglee'(apna desi slang) brutal gibberish language speaking terrorists in the jungles of Manipur. Yahan ke Attankwadi Bodos bohut hi khatarnak he and the army later refers the terrorists as just 'Bodos'.
'Attankwadi Bodos' in manipur. Really?! Manipur is not Assam and Assam is not Manipur. Just like, Rajasthan is not Andhra Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh is not Rajasthan.
This was and is not just geographical misplacement of the community/tribe or the terrorists by probably 700-800 kms but also a disrespectful and poor protrayal of the Bodo community/tribe as terrorists as a whole in a mainstream bollywood movie.
I am a Bodo and I am not a terrorist. I am a proud Indian. My community has produced many engineers, doctors, civil servants, governor, Chief election commissioner of India, dance India dancer winner, athletes, footballers and even martyrs for the nation. Back then in 2005, when this movie was initially released many bodo students, organisations and politicians protested against the screening of this movie. Many angered bodo youths broke VCDs of this movie in shops and streets in presently Bodoland Territorial Region of Assam, erstwhile Bodoland Territorial Council, Assam. Later, the Assam govt. implemented the ban after condemning the issue. However, there was never a single apology from the movie producers or director and yet it is still available on UA-cam, social media platforms and also sometimes played on national TV channels.
FYI, Bodo or Boro generally(on paper specifically and distinctively boro-kachari) is mainly an agrarian based plain tribe of Assam residing predominantly in western plains of Assam, almost entire southern foothills of Bhutan or Indo-Bhutan international border and few foothills of South-western Arunachal Pradesh(basically, the plains of northern banks of the Brahmaputra river of Assam). Bodos are the earliest settlers and indigenous people of Assam with highest tribal population in the entire northeast India with over 60 lakhs people. Moreover, Bodo as a language is a branch language of Sino-tibetan languages written in devanagri/hindi script. It is one of the recognised 22 scheduled languages in the 8th schedule of the constitution of India and co-official state language of Assam.
Hum Bodo adivasi(tribal) hain hum bhi Bhartiya hain. Ye hamari jati/community/tribe ke itihas me bohut badi dukhat gathna thi aur hain. Ye hum hazam kar chukein hain aur bhul bhi chukein hain bohut saal bhi jo ho chuka he ye movie nikalte huyein. Humein bhi thik se janiyein, pehchaniye aur dhikayiyein bhaleyi hum tribal hain aur minority hain apni Sabsey pyari desh BHARAT mein.

8:30 reason why this movie was banned by Assam Govt. in Assam.
In the very first 30-40 mins of the movie 'Bodos' are protrayed as literally 'junglee'(apna desi slang) brutal gibberish language speaking terrorists in the jungles of Manipur. Yahan ke Attankwadi Bodos bohut hi khatarnak he and the army later refers the terrorists as just 'Bodos'.
'Attankwadi Bodos' in manipur. Really?! Manipur is not Assam and Assam is not Manipur. Just like, Rajasthan is not Andhra Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh is not Rajasthan.
This was and is not just geographical misplacement of the community/tribe or the terrorists by probably 700-800 kms but also a disrespectful and poor protrayal of the Bodo community/tribe as terrorists as a whole in a mainstream bollywood movie.
I am a Bodo and I am not a terrorist. I am a proud Indian. My community has produced many engineers, doctors, civil servants, governor, Chief election commissioner of India, dance India dancer winner, athletes, footballers and even martyrs for the nation. Back then in 2005, when this movie was initially released many bodo students, organisations and politicians protested against the screening of this movie. Many angered bodo youths broke VCDs of this movie in shops and streets in presently Bodoland Territorial Region of Assam, erstwhile Bodoland Territorial Council, Assam. Later, the Assam govt. implemented the ban after condemning the issue. However, there was never a single apology from the movie producers or director and yet it is still available on UA-cam, social media platforms and also sometimes played on national TV channels.
FYI, Bodo or Boro generally(on paper specifically and distinctively boro-kachari) is mainly an agrarian based plain tribe of Assam residing predominantly in western plains of Assam, almost entire southern foothills of Bhutan or Indo-Bhutan international border and few foothills of South-western Arunachal Pradesh(basically, the plains of northern banks of the Brahmaputra river of Assam). Bodos are the earliest settlers and indigenous people of Assam with highest tribal population in the entire northeast India with over 60 lakhs people. Moreover, Bodo as a language is a branch language of Sino-tibetan languages written in devanagri/hindi script. It is one of the recognised 22 scheduled languages in the 8th schedule of the constitution of India and co-official state language of Assam.
Hum Bodo adivasi(tribal) hain hum bhi Bhartiya hain. Ye hamari jati/community/tribe ke itihas me bohut badi dukhat gathna thi aur hain. Ye hum hazam kar chukein hain aur bhul bhi chukein hain bohut saal bhi jo ho chuka he ye movie nikalte huyein. Nice movie loved it but they could have made it better with the details:
1- Bodo militants are not from Manipur...they are from Assam ... their interests are based in Assam and have nothing to do in Manipur except maybe hide there.
2- The movie could have made references to real Manipuri insurgent groups rather than Bodos.
3- The language they are speaking is out my understanding...it's anything but Bodo...i think I heard some Assamese as well.
4-The role of BSF is to guard the Indo -Pak border and Indo - Bangladesh border.......Mostly Assam Rifles takes care of northeast insurgency .
5- Over all nice movie ...jai hind🇮🇳
