Good lord, man, just gorgeous. If you aren't secretly tinkering away on an album, you should be. If your Friday noodles are just that, I can't imagine what you could come up with in focused production. Hell, I'd pay for an album of these delicious noodles.
Thanks Nick, these Friday Fun videos are some of my favourite synthesizer/ drum machine demonstration videos on UA-cam. We really appreciate the work you put into all of your content!
I just picked up the Volca FM2 and a few midi adapters and I’m very impressed. Great value and decent polyphony for a small unit. Would make a great layer to any 6 voice analog synth or something like a Minifreak.
Sounds great Nick. I sold my original Volca FM, but the two main things that disappointed me (no velocity/voice limit) have been changed with the new version. They're fun little boxes, regardless of what happens in Synth Memes. Easy access to some of the parameters for quick hands-on edits. And that Delta CEP-A is as awesome as anything (good job Jorg). Nice jam.
What a great way to finish up an 🦘🇦🇺 day 😀 Watching Nick noodle away in a Frequency Modulated Space 🎶Inspiring me to go and play with my synths - if I can get 1/2 way there I'll be happy 🤣
It is missing literally only one thing all fm synths need, some way to control low to high FM amounts via key mapping. Turning down the FM the higher the note you play makes the synth sound more organic
Just bought one even thou I have version 1 dx100 was my first synth back in 86 so have a soft spot for fm seems to be none left in the UK so looks like a Christmas hit💪😁
Dear Sonicstate channel ! Could you tell us please, when would the promised groovebox and synthesizer Korg Drumlogue and Wavestate Se just come out? Is it so bad for these days? Thank you🙏
@@zdave6083 good on ya! I don’t mind ads at the beginning and end, but right in the middle of a piece that’s being played? It’s funny how some creators can upload stuff without any Ads at all??
@@zdave6083 not really, Arturia seem to be able to put plenty of videos on YT without any Ads, and the views are relatively high. Maybe they pay YT to not have Ads?
The Delta Cep returns!!! Excellent. A synth worthy of more attention than its garnered. Believe me, I could gush. That FM2 looks like a great buy too. Hadn't considered it before. I'm considering it now.
Something I'm disappointed by here is that when you changed the patch, it killed all the notes previously played. The OG FM had an unofficial firmware update that fixed the velocity issue mentioned, and made a few improvements, such as allowing the previous patch to fade away. Helps for live performance, but also if using pattern chain. This also makes me wonder if the other advantage of that firmware update made it onto this. Apparently Yamaha and Korg have some difference in sysex that means many dx7 patches don't sound right on the FM. And that's a huge bummer, downloading some Brian Eno patches but not being able to use them? So hopefully when they say that this new one can play dx7 patches it means ANY dx7 patch, or else that unofficial firmware update still makes the original, while limited in voices, still more useful for my purposes. Which sucks because some of these presets, and the internal effects, all sound fantastic.

Lol facts
Nice jam, excellent hypnotic flow. The Volca FM2 sounds great, what a nice little machine.

Great production Nick! Love the Friday Fun Synth Jams!
Awesome session! And the Delta CEP always sounds glorious!
I came here for the FM demo, and ended up buying a Delta Cep A instead!
@@plcasper incredible synth!
The Delta CEP is nice. Wish they had Canadian distribution.
Oooh yeah. Just getting going :) could have listened from the end on another hour. Great job

Glad to see the Volca FM 2 is the Volca FM we all wanted
Beautiful sounds as usual!
Greater polyphony really does help with playing more notes. Wise words ;-)
☺️
Great review and jam as always! Can't believe it's 10 month old and I still can't get the Volca FM2 in Canada...
Man! The times us synth enthusiasts are living in!! Salad Days!!!!! So many affordable, viable tools.
Parts of the US are finally working on legalizing psychedelics. Its not all about theism and imbeciles is what I'm saying.

The jam at the end was amazing loved it
Great session with an excellent low cost gateway synth..
Excellent Jam, got two trusty CDR's and just ordered the Volca FM 2.
Very nice jam Nick!
Just got mine and I'm in love with this little guy! :D
I dont thinkl that Strummer preset is using the Arp, its just a number of partials at different pitches with volume offset AFAIK but a good effect
Superb overview, cheers!
Nice as always Nick. I quite like that "cheesy FM sound" reminds me of Kenny Loggins' Danger Zone.
It can also transmit and receive midi via a standard ts stereo 3.5 cable to and from other midi a devices such as Roland J-6 Korg NTS-1 Boss loopers.
The FM sounds really sweet...
That Delta is gorgeous. Unique sound
Love that bass line.
If I didn't had the Opsix, this FM2 would have been an instant buy. Excellent value for money.
I *don't* have an OpSix, and I'm getting really itchy to pick up one of these. 😀
insperational! nice one Nick! 👍

I'm curious why you've never done a full review of the KeyStep Pro.
That Delta CEP bass sounds great.
Just waiting for the beat to drop, luscious.
8:45 reminds me of Bark Psychosis
Good luck finding a new Volca FM 2!
Thanks for the awesome music
wish this could have been a firmware update for the volca fm.
Thanks for the jam!
Nice review and jam as usual. Curios what Mixer Nick is using in this setup. Anyone know?
Old Mackie 1202 vlz
@@sonicstate thanks. I thought it might be a Mackie but the color thru me off. I’m looking for a nice little mixer for my setup.
why are you using the MIDI in and Sync in? doesn't the Keaboard send MiDI clock through the Midi input?
I love the tune!
Really great, I think Fm gets a lot of undeserved bad press. Demonstrated fantastically
great jam!
I'm torn between the KORG VOLCA KICK and the VOLCA FM2. Seems like the Kick has beefier tones and more ambient sounds by default.
A bit late to the party. Although I’m subscribed UA-cam lost these videos with their algorithms. This great stuff, giving me some inspiration.
volca fm2 seems like a great deal, huge shame that the arps don't get sent through the midi out
Super Nick! 👏💪👏

Very beautiful 🥰
Thats' better pricing than originally mentioned. keeps it in volca range. That Delta sound spretty good, maybe korg can try a volca version.
Nice one, too bad YT keep dropping Ads right in the middle of your work. 😒
Too bad we're too cheap to pay for YT ad free .

What’s that bass synth. I want it
Was the excessive white noise fixed? I sold mine for that reason, could not stand it.
The midi out is helpful to send patch data out, into an editor. Additionally to poly chain.
❤ the fundays.
very nice. reminds me global communication stuff.
Very 90s Tangerine Dream.
Thanks, really cool. I Will combine with Monostation. ❤️
great track!

I hear distortion and cracking right at the start on that EP..
Delta sounds ace
It sounds DX7 :D

🔥🔥🔥
Twice as many voice patches too. Now 64 from 32 ?
i had a fun time with my original but i sold it to fund my microfreak.
👍🏼
It is way better than previous one i have. Thank you for the review. Thank you and your government for supporting Ukraine.
Not funny... 46 weeks of Delay to have one ! That's crazy !
Lost in the music - not a bad place to be.. and a good album title.
Way too much stereo separation in this video.
Of course with other devices that cost mininimum four FM2 it's Radikal …
It always intrigues me why British say "volcar fm" instead of "volca fm"
Bro you need to get your heart check, your breathing is getting shorter. Cheers.
