The Midpoint Masterclass: Unlock the Secrets of Storytelling

- Get ready to take your screenwriting game to the next level, because in this video we're breaking down the midpoint like you've never seen before. You know that little moment in your script that happens around the halfway mark? Yeah, that one. Well, it's not so little, and it's time to give it the attention it deserves. The midpoint is where your story goes from "meh" to "hell yeah," and I'm going to show you how to make it work for you.
With examples from popular movies (Top Gun: Maverick, The Wrestler, Spencer and Knives Out) and a healthy dose of book knowledge, I'll walk you through how to use the midpoint to raise the stakes, introduce new plot developments, and make your audience scream "What?! No way!" at the screen. You'll learn how to create a strong narrative structure, make your characters more dynamic, and build tension that'll keep people on the edge of their seats.
So, forget what you thought you knew about screenwriting and get ready to learn how to make your script a cinematic masterpiece. Grab your notebook, some snacks and be ready to learn something new!
This is meant for both writers, film critics, film students, directors and viewers that wish to have a deeper understanding of what they are watching, reading, writing or filming.
Familiarity with this and other concepts will allow you to not be unfamiliar with Film and Screenwriting Grammar when listening to film critics, reviewers, opinionists, influencers, and media, and formulate your own opinion without taking what you hear as absolute truth.
So, when your favorite film critic and opinions talks about the Midpoint, they got their information from this video. Now you know it. You're welcome.
All stories use it, some better than others.

@@TheItalianScreenwriter Just got back from The Fablemans. I'm trying to find the midpoint in that one...
@@cinemazione5847 which beat, roughly halfway trough, gives Sammy’s story a reversal, raising the stakes and giving his journey a deeper meaning? *SPOILER WARNING*

… it’s when he finds out of his mother relationship with Bennie while working on the camping film. A film he didn’t even want to work on… his dad made him do it so he could try to save his marriage…. Make A story, his relationship with film, and B story, his relationship with his mom, cross as well. You agree??

At first I thought that the midpoint was Sammy's conversation with Uncle Boris, during which he finds out that art will tear him apart, but that actually didn't actively changed his relationship with filmmaking of with his family. Then I started thinking that maybe it was when his mom slap him, but at that point it's too late, he already knows what's going on with Bennie. So yeah, you're pretty right (as always).
@@cinemazione5847 you know I’m always happy to help my friend. This is why I’m here 🤘

Sorry, but what happened with the out segment? The one who created wouldn't fix it for free?
I’m not sure what you’re talking about
@@TheItalianScreenwriter The signing off animation that has a typo on "screenwriter". Did you stop using it because the person who created wouldn't fix it? I noticed it was only used on three videos.
