She's the true icon of early 2000's along with Norah Jones. Her songs are my time travel ship to those beautiful innocent days back in Europe 2002 till end 2010. I played her album every single day at one of Amsterdam famous historical cafés "DOWNTOWN COFFEESHOP" (Real Coffee, coffeeshop, not the typical Dutch coffeeshop), which is unfortunately has gone for good now, where I worked full time as waiter, barista and cook before I stepped into hotel management. It was very small café but very cozy café and always busy, with nice cakes and Indonesian & The Philippines Fried Rice and Noodles. Also famous for the Chicken Avocado Sandwich, BLT, etc.. Also nice pastas. Even the Caffe Latte and Carrot Cake were the best in town as well. The American pancakes (Plain, Apple, and Banana) we made were favourites too along with English and American Breakfast in our truly fancy way. Here as my lunch I often prepared Sauteed Vegetables with Gamba Shrimps Indonesian way with Plain Rice on the side and there were many part time freelancing waiters (from Canada, UK, Italy, etc) I shared the lunch with and commented that was fancy meal 😅 while it's just our Indonesian/Asian typical regular lunch. I know my cooking skills and our Indonesian Cuisines are Beyond Michelin Star, as Michelin is just the standard of very poor in everything France. Cooking has been one of my hobbies since I was 8 years old as I had to prepare my own fried rice while my nannies and maids were troubled too often by me 😅
Wonderful explanation. Unfortunately that unique place like that go to waste. Where do we have to go for such an authentic experience nowadays? Some tips in Holland😀
What a terrific peek into the creative mind: it’s always more interesting to come at a subject from the side, as opposed to directly. That is artistry.
This number is so easy to listen tho, I loved it then and i still love it now. To me it is not about the lyric;s but how it is song. When Jeff Wayne would have just it for his adaption of "War of the Worlds", i think we would have loved the aliens much more 🤔🤔
Is the guide the same woman from the , st pancras piano incident earlier this year? Where a group of chinese activists rudely interrupted a youtubers stream?
Great song ♥️🔥😍😍
9 million bicycles is the music that didn’t ask for permission to enter my spirit. I love it
I just love the history behind the songs.
brilliant explanation of how this song came about- thanks

Pretty cool. I grew up with Mike's songs for The Wombles.
So beautiful
They should have shown us his amazing house.

The same guy who wrote "Remember, member, member, what a Womble, Womble, Womble you are " 😀
But also the Womble theme tune, the Big Break theme tune and the Dreamstone theme tune as well as Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkle
🎵👍👍👍

'Wetten dass', with European stars, in China?
Huh?
Closest Thing to Crazy was far better
You need to travel around the world to have better taste
Is this made up? Or is this a real song I've never heard of?
Very real.

It's a fact. I remember it, but didn't know Mike Batt wrote it. He wrote so many songs, like the Art Garfunkel hit, Bright Eyes.
GIY.
