  • Frustrated with existing solutions for pointing his telescope and finding deep sky objects, Richard had a dream for a simple to use all-in-one device that fit his observing style. Drawing inspiration from various work in the space, and utilizing off the shelf components, he built a working prototype and release the Harvard and software as open source. Six months later, with over 100 units under the stars, both the hardware and software have benefited from the engagement of like-minded folks through the open-source model and Richard is exploring ways to sell kits and assembled units to fund future development.

    As a person who has struggled with a accelerometer and magnetometer based finder, this looks amazing :) Great job

    Great video Richard, thanks. Won't be long before mine is working on my Dob. Lot's of ideas you are putting out there for different ways to use it.
