People are still making complaints about this game series because the part where you have to be quiet still doesn't work when you the prass the button at the right time. The developer either has to get rid of that or fix the problem or change it. It's very annoying because it's not letting you save the characters.
In my opinion the Best thing in the game was definitely Ashley Tisdale as Rachel and her amazing scene in the pool of blood. And overall her performance was probably my favourite.
It was great character development of Jason from having a no care attitude towards the murder of the innocent girl to finally accepting that he did wrong and how it has affected him. This is just one example of a casualty and it's sickening to think about just how many innocent victims on both sides have fallen prey to the wars in real life. Another development was how Jason stepped away from the prejudiced and antagonistic approach towards Salim after understanding that he too is a person just like everyone else. It really does put into perspective how much the media demonised both sides to the extent that even thinking of the opposition as a human was wrong. Eric and Dar were most definitely the prime example of this. Dar perished due to this view and it was only very close to the end when Eric finally backed down and accepted Salim. All in all, yes, Jason and Salim were a great duo.
@@GundamGokuTV yeah, even if the dev logic is "rachel is always that queen bitch", it still weird and doesn't make sense, except if she's the sole survivor.

This game talks about the Akkadian civilization in southern Iraq in the city of Nasiriyah, where the Akkadians were ruled by King (Saram-Sin.) The king was offering sacrifices to the gods so that the curse would not befall them, but over time, the barn became dry, which made many of them emigrate, leaving only King (Naram-Sin) and a few people Then the tribes (for the moment I forgot their name) attacked them. They killed the king and his followers and destroyed the Akkadian civilization. All that remains of their enclosure are many statues and clay paintings, all of which are currently in the Iraqi Museum in Baghdad. I hope I helped you. اخيكم العراقي Greetings Jaffer from Iraq

I wasn't expecting Naram-Sin to be a real person. Figured he'd be a fictional king made up for the game, so it's neat that they did a little lost history thing with this.

But I'm older now, and it is clear that whether or not 9/11 was an "inside job", our government used the crisis not only to invade the middle east, taking control of profitable oil fields, killing hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, but what you don't see is that our government also vastly expanded its operations in spying on its own citizens. The ironically named "Patriot Act" created a massive government spy organization, that taps phones, monitors all of your internet activity, everything. 20 years later, we are less happy, less free, and our "enemies" are just as strong as ever. @@epg96 hm idk. Seems unlikely. My best bet about the sons interest is that its just foreshadowing. Just like how that one guy deliberately looked back after getting off the chopper after saying its supposed to be a curse

@@heathenpride7931 In 2002 the intelligence communities of multiple nations were convinced that Saddam Hussein had chemical and biological weapons. Saddam's government was fond of hiding equipment and weapons in historical sites, so when the Coalition forces found the depots empty they started searching old temples and ruins. Caelus detected a previous undiscovered temple complex and equipment inside, so it makes sense that they would assume that was where the chemicals were being stored.
They kind of are though. They see giant batlike monsters everywhere. They see corpses with fang marks in the necks, drained dry of blood. Takes them an awfully long time to mention vampires based on this.

@@seeleveliona What is your point? During the detour his guilt-driven hallucinations started, causing his own crash. But the cause for the detour was still a different car crash.

This is definitely a worthy successor to until dawn. Had a similar twist: in until dawn for most of the movie it was like “oh there’s a killer up here” then “surprise it’s wendigos” In this “vampires? No, ALIEN vampires”
Obviously you should never use white phosphorus on humans, but you should still bring it with you on the off chance that you need to fight demons, especially moon demons. It's the same reason why you should bring silver bullets to fight werewolves or Molotov Cocktail's to fight vampires. It's just common sense.
It's funny how even when ppl go into the game knowing it's horror, their first reaction is "hell no" to the phosphorus, forgetting that they need to think about what might be in store for them. A little extra punch might come in handy. 🤣
i'm always impressed when a someone is able to make a scenario starring heavily armed and trained soldiers horrific. while it does devolve into a bit too much action later on i really enjoyed seeing them play around with actually somewhat competent characters in a life or death scenario.
This game is an amazing set up for a Delta Green style game...I actually really liked all the people in this one, and this is by far the strongest of them all. More like this please ^_^
I would be cool with a full game just for Salim and Jason. They have such different personalities and perspectives that just work here. Great playthrough!
But if you think about it carefully, if the choices and QTEs weren't done well by the player, it could have ended with just ancient - nobody will know what happened down there and it will stay as a horror bedtime story.
Just watched this with my wife in it's entirety and man, this was one hell of a rollercoaster. Felt like something that needs to be in theatres. @MKIceAndFire Thank you for the playthrough man, content like this is why I stay subbed.

You'd love the movie The Cave (2005). Basically very similar premise and story excepts scientists instead of soldiers, Romania instead of Iraq, beneath a medieval castle instead of a Akkadian temple and a cave instead of a cavern. It's the perfect blend of sci-fi/horror/action adventure. Also the creatures are incredibly similar. This game being set in 2003 was a good touch too since a lot of these sci-fi horrors were huge during the early to mid 2000s. Also they said they took inspiration from The Descent (also a cave monster movie), Alien and Predator series for this game as well.
@@chilliam00 haven't seen the cave, think I'm gonna watch it after seeing your comment. The decent was a great movie, can definitely see how they took some inspiration from there for the game. @@IDyce88 Don't really know where the creators wanted to go with the story but I think they didn't really say it'll all be about Pazuzu, the mythology mentioned here in the game and even the US-Iraq war setting maybe serves as a setting element. I think I read it somewhere that the creators used the war setting of 2003 because "it had a lot of potential for a story". So maybe that's what they were trying to do here, they based the setting off of the mythology and expanded from it. This is just my take so far.
@@TheOneiricIXII well here is what i do know; the mad king's empire (from the prologue) was Mesopotamian and Pazuzu is a Mesopotamian demon legend/ myth or religious icon. his statue was seen in the exorcist film and that same statue is not only on the COVER of House of Ashes (next to Rachel's face covered in blood) but also Rachel mentions Pazuzu by name in the game and she shows Eric a small statue figure of Pazuzu his statues were seen at least five times in those ruins...i counted. i have no problem with the "other demons" angle or the soldiers or iraq war time period that all makes sense...what i do question is why they called them vampires and why there was this weird rubbish about "oh they were peaceful once" and "they sing to communicate" LOL and the most crazy thing was from outer space...really? that is like saying xenomorphs came from the bottom of the ocean...why flip the logic the wrong way up. also i swear what Joey turned into was meant to be Pazuzu but when i look it up it just says "vampire Joey"... also Pazuzu is a deity of plague and fever...look at how Clarice and Rachel died...they got all sick and began to change.
This has been my favourite in the Dark Pictures Anthology. Really wanted it to be The Devil In Me, but House of Ashes was far more polished and it feels like an actual horror movie throughout.
At around the 4 hour 30 minute mark, one of the premonitions is from The Devil In Me, and labelled Hotel? I guess that was supposed to be like an easter egg for the next game? Until Dawn was made by the same company but it is not part of the series. It is a stand a lone game. They have not pulled Until Dawn into the Anthology series and they have stated they do not plan to as it was the inspiration to do this series instead. I do agree with you that if every game in this series was, "not actually real" would of gotten old after the last two games and I am glad they went with a creature feature instead this time. @@joshshin6819 oh I know it was seperate from the latest 3. I grouped it in my example based on what story the company made in my example for their heavy story and interactive game line
@@joshshin6819 and also yes regardless of little hope following man of median, it presented it differently, showing the internal struggle of one man with his loss. Letting it easily stand out vs a bio weapon gone rogue. Which is why when house of ashe came with real monsters it was perfect, not just the fact it was real but the ending actually does the reverse unlike the other 2. This time, despite knowing it's real, greater forces are making sure it is not real. Like little hope you see hints of it before the twist, but obviously the reverse in this case. One examples are the rescue soldier didnt really respond to the monsters, making us question if we are seeing the same thing.
It's no exaggeration Little Hope could have been the next Silent Hill if it didn't have the "it's not real" gimmick. It's really a shame because I really like the idea of a town that allows the player to interact with the past.
Has anyone ever noticed how the eyes of the characters look “dead” at times? Like they are just staring into space and not looking at each other directly in the eyes. Other than that, awesome graphics and story!
Watched another one of my favorite gaming channels stream this whole game earlier today, and now I'm here for your playthrough! I think this is the best Dark Pictures game yet. Seriously hyped for TDIM now!
Amazing play through. I only counted I think 2 mistakes and they weren’t even big ones good job! I watched that whole game in one sitting. Loved every bit of it and so impressed you kept everyone alive. Nice!
Really aren’t any mistakes to be mad when there’s multiple things made to happen for a reason. That’s why there’s multiple play throughs with different outcomes and endings on purpose
5:05:48 Honestly expected that. Moments before said to myself "What happened to her? Surely she's not dead they don't do offscreen deaths in this series."
Awesome game and walkthrough! I honestly believe that the movie The Cave was a huge source of inspiration for the creature design, origin and how people turn into those things.
This game looks amazing in the stills, but the animations leave it firmly in the uncanny valley. Story's good, if predictable, but the character reactions to user choices can be a bit jarring. For example, during an interaction that could either be a conversation or an argument there are several option points and if you choose the argumentative option in the middle, you get heated responses as if you had been arguing all along. A milder choice next brings the tone back down like you had never argued in the first place. It's a limit of any branching dialogue system, but there are workarounds that they chose not to implement.
Does anyone notice how the Curator pops up every now and again for a brief moment? Like have a look at 3:54:57 That's so cool! He pops up a few other times throughout, though not sure
Hi! Me and my family band actually wrote a song for it and used some clips from your gameplay to make like a "music video". We were planning on publishing it but was wondering if that's okay with you? We'll of course, CREDIT YOU as a huge thank you for your awesome gameplay! P.S: We loved it so much ... it was like a movie! And thank you for saving all of our favourite characters
I’m guessing this was originally supposed to be a “in your head” thing as well but after Little Hope the studio quickly realized that was a reaaal bad idea and reshot the later scenes.
I like the writing and all, I really enjoy it. My only gripe is the fact that I was actually expecting it to be some sort of curse that would revolve around the demon Pazuzu, and instead, we get some alien stuff... Did we really need that? Wouldn't it be more cool if it was about the mythology rather than alien stuff? Really. It could've been this much cooler. I am not going to lie, towards the end, it felt more like an Alien movie. Which certainly is not a bad step, but as I've said; I would've appreciated the Pazuzu involvement far more.
Yeah. There's so much mythological creature that can be use from those decades like wendigo in until dawn. The alien story is the only setbacks from this story.
Bro, i've been waiting for this for so long! I randomly searched for the release date just now... Imma blaze up, lean back and enjoy the next 5 and a half hours, thank you :)
All I can say is just... *finally*. I loved Until Dawn, but the last two games have been just one disappointment after the other. If this one had gone down the same route, I think that I would've given up on the games entirely. There's only so much cheesy writing and dumb endings that one can take. This game, however, is a MASSIVE step back in the right direction. Sure, it needs like an hour more of exposition to help you like the characters, it needs to cut out all the wandering around time or actually make it worthwhile (I.E. scary and intense), and it needs to revamp some of the horrible, awkward dialogue. But it's so much better than Little Hope and Man of Medan. Overall criticisms: - Not enough mythos before hand to really build up what these creatures might be. There's tons of lore about jinns and ghouls and so many other things that they could've thrown at you to get you thinking what these things might be. Them latching onto vampires seemed far too convenient. - They showed the monsters way too fast. It was so intense when all you could see were their shadows or hands and you had to try to play as a character trying to get around them. - They need to rework the dialogue. It seems like they wrote the script then cut out a bunch of lines, so now a lot of the scenes seem incomplete or awkward. - Because you have such little exposition or introduction to the characters, none of the characters relationships really mean anything. It would've been one thing to start with Rachel and Eric having a car crash and then show their disaster life unfolding right before them, or for the checkpoint to actually happen in the game rather than just be something that's mentioned a bunch. However, since none of that happened, or since it was put in the game out of order, it's like it doesn't even matter. - They need to rethink what makes the game strong. There are certain areas that have a much more impactful effect on the player than what they truly focus on. For example, the bottom of the cave area with the red water? Or the cavern but with little to no light? Or the grave for the builders? Those are areas that just make clench up with anticipation, but those are also some of the shortest parts of the game for some reason. - No good subplot. One of the reasons why Until Dawn is so successful is because it's really two plots overlaying one another. You have the whole "serial killer" thing going on, but then you also have the man in the prison and the Wendigos... When you put the two together, it made it really intense and mysterious. Since Until Dawn, the studio has tried to do a subplot with some "other" group, such as the pirates or these other soldiers, but it really doesn't work. It's just too simple and it feels so overused and these games need to reincorporate that extra twist in there to really hit it home. And no, even the whole "aliens" twist wasn't that big of a twist. It was close, but still not there. - Rachel getting infected. I mean, come on? That could've been something that had serious consequences. But instead, it turned around so quickly it was like it never even happened. Overall positives: - The setting in this game is probably the best one by far. It's so detailed and interesting, and it automatically makes the player tense up. - The opening scene of ancient Akkad was amazing. It was a little rough, but it was like watching a movie. I think it's safe to say that everyone enjoyed that. - The symbolism with the House of Shadows and such is pretty good. Not too heavy-handed and not too light. - The choices in this game are actually pretty difficult and I like that. Cut the rope to Rachel or don't? Leave Clarice behind or don't? These are really emotional choices and they actually mean something to the player. - The scene at the beginning where the two sides are closing in on each other. That was really intense and it was a good way to throw the characters into their new environment. - The whole section with Jason and Salim. The developers knew that these were probably the two characters the player would like the most so it's interesting that they paired them together. Plus their dialogue was the most realistic/natural out of the whole cast. Makes me wish that they had just done that for the whole game though. - The voiced flashbacks were also awesome. They were really well done. - The ending with the people in suits and the interrogations was awesome. Plus the whole "boss level" moment where it was vampires vs. all five of them in the shepherds shed pushed it just that little extra bit it needed to go. Overall, probably the best game they've made since Until Dawn. Now let's see if they can keep this energy up. This has "redemption arc" energy written all over it.
I think he is the grim reaper because at 3:51:05 you can see his face light up by lightning and the part in the light becomes a skull it is a blink and you miss it moment though but I think it is very nice foreshadowing
I saw Mike Flanagan's Midnight Mass a couple of days ago, felt like deja vu on the vampires and part of the story. If anyone saw it they would know what I am talking about.
I thought someone would make my day and actually pay attention to the Arabic voice acting. But nope. For those of you who know nothing about Arabian dialects, Salim is supposed to be an Iraqi soldier, yet for some reason his dialect and his superiors dialect is Egyptian. If you want to know how stupid that sounds then imagine someone who's supposed to be Australian and yet he's talking with American-Southern accent. Anyone who's from Texas (or Australia) is going to be looking at the guy talking wondering to themselves "WTF is going on??"
What was keeping those lights on after the generator blew up? And why don't the vampire aliens ever attack at night? They'd have hours to wreak havoc. Eric said they're supposed to be smart. Both times they came to the surface were because humans disturbed them, and there just happened to be a solar eclipse to block the daylight. They're not cunning predators. They lash out like a swarm of angry hornets. The vampire aliens didn't destroy the lights, the generator, or the turret gun despite having almost 60 years to do so. They didn't even knock the lights over by accident in all that time. The parasite that turned the aliens all toothy and mean apparently does the same to humans, and neither Clarice nor the Akkadian general guy seemed all that smart. Just stronger and super aggro. You could wipe these aliens out by making a ton of noise above their nest at high noon. They'd come up to attack and get burned instantly. How did Rachel get that vision of the aliens crashing on earth? Did the parasite give it to her? All five of them heard the whale song, but it only triggered the vision for her. But Salim said the aliens turned berserk because the parasite cut them off from the song. So if anything, everyone *except* Rachel should've gotten the vision of aliens crashing when the song played.

What are you complaining about?

I honestly didn’t think I’d like Jason and then he turned out to be the most levelheaded character, I love it
This game reminds me of the movie series “The Descent part 1 and 2” great game tho.
''The Cave'' and ''LifeForce''
The cave
Oh yess. I love the first movie
If you enjoyed those, watch The tunnel (2011) and As above, so below (2014)
Jason and salim. I fell in love with this duo ❤
Overall criticisms:
- Not enough mythos before hand to really build up what these creatures might be.
Overall positives:
- The setting in this game is probably the best one by far.
Thanks for no stupid commentary. Such a blessing when you had an exhausting day and all you wanna do is relax hahah
A grand applause for this game! Also, to the decisions the player made and how the game turned out in the best way possible!
4:58:40 Nick just brushes off being in the midst of a shite ton of TNT like it was a walk in the park :D
I'm still think Curator is true villain and mastermind behind everything
I think he’s playing as a Reaper
He's an robot
I think he's the villain on the last story of dark pictures *maybe
I think he is the grim reaper because at 3:51:05 you can see his face light up by lightning and the part in the light becomes a skull
it is a blink and you miss it moment though
but I think it is very nice foreshadowing
@Notorious Hoops wow good eyes right there
1:03:37 When Joey said "Liar" as he died, that hit home man... shit kinda hurt
I saw Mike Flanagan's Midnight Mass a couple of days ago, felt like deja vu on the vampires and part of the story. If anyone saw it they would know what I am talking about.
Great show
What a show! Started off slow in my opinion but absolutely loved all the details coming out and picking up intensity roughly half way through!
The last act of this game remind me of Micheal Mann’s The Keep.
omg, thank you for this game play! I was searching for it and YOU already played it! Greetings from Austria (shared and liked)
Thank you, Emma
Good guy Salim relaying important information
poor you
What was keeping those lights on after the generator blew up?
Alternate tittle : Salim the vampire slayer
37:34 the whistle in the background is creepy
Gives the weird eerie vibe
Damn I just realized that Jason and Salim are the present Balathu and Kurum. Both from opposing sides but worked together to fight the monsters.
Well good job for realising it. I I thought it was pretty obvious but I've seen no other comment pointing it put.
Outstanding GamePLAYYYYY
It was like I'm watching a movie where all of the survivors survived (which is rare)
The ending of House of Ashes look likes Resident Evil Spinoff because of helicopter scene 😹😹
Salim and Jason: "wtf is this place"
HR Geiger: "Welcome to my home"
