He was gracious enough to say he remembered me from the first visit when he came unescorted into the studio where we were doing a "Dialing For Dollars" noontime show. I had him all to myself talking ST. It was a couple years before ST-The Motion Picture was released. A moment I'll never forget.

Dozens and dozens of TV and movie stars/celebrities came onto our show. And I was able to shake hands with them all and either speak a little or a lot with most of them. Yes, I was very lucky to be in the position I was. My job title was floor director. By the time I left that TV station I had been promoted to a director position, mostly of news blocks. But of all the jobs I've held in my job background, the floor director job was the most fun a 21 year old guy ever had. I've been retired for 3 years now.
No matter how many times I watch this, I always crack up. Seeing Spock laugh is pretty damn surreal, and look how red Shatner turns when he screws up the 'guilty, not guilty' line. He's almost the same color as his uniform.
If you listen in the beginning after the Klingon says, "There shall be no peace, as long as Kirk lives!" You'll hear someone yell, "You pompous ass!" This was Nimoy kidding around, yet it remained in the final cut.
The cast were in their prime here. Not only are they fantastic actors, they have so many years of history and friendship to draw upon, which is so evident in this movie. It's a truly unique and beautiful thing to witness.
We were at the Monterey Aquarium when they were filming. My mind was blown. At 2:34 William Shatner was talking to someone just off set and missed his cue. Mr. Nimoy was directing and not in makeup that day. I was amazed it how long it took to get a shot that was only seconds in the movie.
Love it when Spock starts to laugh. He had an infectious laugh. R.I.P. All who gave their body back to earth while their souls keep exploring the universe ✨💫✨

Well, I guess we can put it in the re-release director's cut, 2025 edition.
This glorious video proves that whatever the rumors, whatever on-set drama may have taken place during the entire Star Trek series's run, the cast were a family. They were friends. A unit of people, actors, who enjoyed doing what they do, creating the show and putting all of their time, talent, and effort into it. There was joy in all of it, no matter the falling outs and disagreements that may have come after for them. Star Trek forever!

I just came across this after watching some of the Red Letter Media reviews. This completely brightened my day. I remember watching this in the theater with my parents back in the day and this has remained one of my favorites -- thank you so much for sharing this.
I used to laugh at all the Star Trek geeks. Having never really watched any of the movies. But I am a big fan of science and Carl Sagan and Cosmos. Then i watched a few Star Trek movies and actually really enjoyed the chemistry between the characters and found myself really enjoying the science of it all and how it was approached. I realized i was a fan. OMG!!
I love Star Trek for a lot of reasons, but a big one is how much fun the cast and crew have when they produce it. I wish I could have been on set to watch this stuff.

Seeing all of this makes me shed a tear remembering Dr McCoy. They all seem to be having such a good time together. Long Live Scotty and "Bones." I hope they knew how much joy they brought to so many millions of us.
