Love that you placed Jack Russells great white ‘He saw it Coming’ as high as you did, I completely agree. Psycho City album should be 1-2 places higher but I recognize splitting hairs at this point. Great White literally has 8 incredible albums and should have been more of a headline arena act instead of opening most of the time. Great list my brother
Yeah, it just has a good variety. You expect the Desert Moon / Can't Shake it style stuff, but I was surprised by South Bay Cities, Afterglow, Congo Square, Loving Kind. Their most diverse album, yet the rockers really rock, and the other stuff really works mixed in. There is a japan cd called Hooked and Live in New York, that has an extra live cd, with some rare cuts
Kudos to you for actually having these albums in your collection 😊. Some of those are very hard to find now, even out of print. The "Recover" album that was reissued as "Burning House of Love" was quickly pulled off shelves in light of the Station House tragedy.
Psycho City is my number 1 followed closer by Hooked. Once Bitten was a blind buy & the first I heard & goes to number 3. After that 4 their 1984 Debut (Stick it) 5. Can’t get there from here. 6 Twice Shy (probably played it to much in the day) 7. Let it Rock and then the rest in no particular order. Jack will be missed 😞
I have that Spread Eagle t-shirt too. I used to work for the band as their UK Rep.. Psycho City is a great album. Should have had at least 4 top 40 hits. Capital records threw them under the bus according to the band. 🤘🏻 Great White forever 🤘🏻
The labels threw all of those bands under the bus, man. Look at Damn Yankees - a veritable supergroup who had 2 hit albums under their belt, toured successfully, and were pretty much a money printing machine. When it came time to start work on Album #3 in, I think '93/'94 or thereabouts, the suits at Warner Brothers were so adamant about not touching anything remotely AOR or 80's-era-Metal that they paid them their $1000 000 advance NOT to record the album and just walk away and disappear. The labels had no interest whatsoever in allowing these long-established acts to coexist with the newer bands coming out. They wanted them gone and were prepared to take even substantial financial hits to make that happen. Never seen anything like that before or since in the music industry.
In the intro of "Call It "Rock And Roll" you can hear someone say "This sound familiar?" :) The band knew exactly what they were doing. I kind of roll my eyes at the song, but LOVE that ending: "Gonna get a good feeling ... right down to your soul". My only issue wth your rankings is I have Sail Away much higher at #6. Gone with The Wind and Living in the USA (with Clarence Clemons on saxophone!) are classics.
I saw them open up for Judas Priest in 1984. I bought the album they were promoting at the time (their 1st, self-titled album) so I would be familiar with them when I saw them and they blew me away. It's one of my favorite albums to this day.
This is a band that while I have been a fan of them from day one, I have gotten on and off the train a few times and a lot of their albums weren't part of my life during their career. I have had time to rediscover the ones I missed each time I got back on board with the band but, as we all know, that makes it harder for those albums to integrate themselves into your rotation. Having said all that, I’ve spent the last few days listening to the entire catalog and I’m amazed by how consistent their post-glory days albums are. There are some very good albums on par with the “golden years” and although this isn’t easy, I am prepared to rank them. I wanted to get mine up there before I saw yours to see how I matched up. I don't doubt that your explanations would've influenced me to re-evaluate my ranking. So, after pouring through all the albums in the aftermath of this tragic loss, I have them in three tiers: ~Close:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 14) Elation (Their new singer reminded me a lot of Jeff Keith of Tesla. Good album though) 13) Full Circle (The new guy sounded more in sync with the band, Very good album) 12) Shot in the Dark (There are two songs on here I love and a couple I like.) 11) Sail Away (A little mellow but, some very good stuff that almost reaches their aspirations) 10) He Saw It Coming (I didn’t initially click with this one but, this time around I enjoyed it a lot) ~On Target:----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 09) Rising (A couple of these songs kept it out of the Bullseye Zone for me) 08) Psycho City (Really strong album!) 07) Hooked (I had forgotten how much I liked this one when it came out!) 06) Can’t Get There From Here (This was one that I bonded with when I got back on board) 05) Twice Shy (This album is way better than I remembered it! Excellent and fun video, Great White criminally under rated band. Just a little something to ponder. If Jack Russell would have done his full eight years in prison this band would have never materialized.

Might need a revised ranking to include Jack Russell’s solo records: Shelter Me from the mid-90’s and For You from 2002. 😁 I’ve tried to rank my top albums overall, which is an extremely difficult task and I have yet to be able to complete that… that said, Twice Shy, I’m almost certain is a top5 greatest album of all time for me. Solid list… some of the lower ranking stuff you gave more praise to than some of the mid-tier stuff. Overall, that ranking is pretty solid.
The Angels were great. I knew of them before Great White. They put out an album in the states called 2 Minute Warning that had the great track Underground. I picked up that record and have been a fan ever since. The interesting thing is that my local radio station (WBCN) used to play a song called No Secrets which I would later find out was The Angels as well. So, I hadn't heard them in the late 70s. Doc Neeson was a great vocalist and lyricist. I know this is about Great White. So, I only have the early material, but I guess I would rank it like this: Hooked Shot In The Dark Twice Shy Once Bitten (just a smidge ahead of Twice Shy) Looks like I have a few to check out.
Yes the album 2 Minute Warning is excellent. I was lucky enough to find a used CD of it where the store didn’t know what they had so it was dirt cheap. Awesome find.
The artwork on the back of Shot In The Dark is original. Always hated the way they ran all the song titles together like that. BTW, I have the "Face The Day" 12" single, and it has an unreleased track on it called "Hard And Cold". Did that song ever get released on anything else?
Great episode. One correction - the bonus disc with Sail Away are not the same recordings that were on Stages. Actually also the original Shot In The Dark did have the back artwork which was similar to the next 2 albums. Anyway i'll stop being pedantic 🙂
The song "Ain't No Way to Treat a Lady" from "Let it Rock" - that's actually a cover song by the band Q5. The original version of the song is on Q5's 1985 album "Steel the Light". Great song! 🎶😎
Re: "Once Bitten Twice Shy". I saw an interview with Mark Kendall on UA-cam where he said recording it was originally suggested by Izzy Stradlin of GnR. Both bands were managed at the time by Alan Niven.
Gonna miss Jack. I saw JR's Great White in May 2022 and it was obvious he wasn't in good health at that time. He had to use a cane on stage and then sat in a chair for the entire show. I also think the Station fire took ten years off his life. My ranking would be (I haven't heard Elation or Full Circle): 1. Psycho City 2. Once Bitten... 3. Hooked 4. ...Twice Shy 5. Let It Rock 6. Great White (1984 debut) 7. Shot in the Dark 8. Sail Away 9. Can't Get There from Here 10. Back to the Rhythm 11. Rising
Interesting about the logo .I never really notice it before im going have to check that out. Great white was another band that made a black ⚫ album cover like spinal tap and Metallica did lol 😆
Once Bitten is my favourite, that was the first album i ever heard from them . Though the UK version is very different to the the version released in the US . I have both versions now, in the UK side two starts with Fast Road then has three songs from Shot In The Dark . Quite strange that they changed it and especially leaving Save Your Love off of it. Saw them for the first time when they toured here with Alice Cooper and Britny Fox . Great band with a really strong back catalogue.
I didn't know once bitten was different in the UK. I got the next album Twice Shy from the UK, cause it had a live album. Twice Shy and Live at the Marquee
@@dawnpatrol700 Yeah the original album side two had Fast Road,What Do You Do (live),Face The Day (US Radio Blues version ) and Gimme Some Lovin. I have that version of Twice Shy as well the live songs on it came from the same tour that I saw the band.
Although not as good as Hooked, there is something special about Rising. It has a different style to it. In the 80s, there was a band called Gene Loves Jezebel, that mixed a hard rock sound with the Cure style. I think they never made it, cause they didn't fit a particular category. Rising has that "hard rock with alternative leanings" sound . Poisons " cry tough" has that rock / alternative mix also
Brendon I see on Amazon That the first Great White and Shot in The Dark and Let it Rock are Very Expensive on CD. Do you Have Let it Rock on Cd It came out in 1996 i heard it is out of Print.
Of all the bands that I’m big into like Great White I buy their albums on the day they’re released for just that reason so when they go out of print I already have my copy.
I think including all 19 was the proper way to do it. They actually have a ton of other EPs and stuff, but i consider the 19, the "cannon" albums. Not to mention, a few of their albums have special editions, that include a live album
Well this is an “Album” Ranking so that’s why EPs, Live albums, and Greatest Hits were not included. The Latest & Greatest is an album all recorded at one time. It’s essentially a covers album of their own songs which is why I included it, but not other Greatest Hits albums. Recovery was included because even though it had collected together a number of EPs it added up to a full length album and was marketed as such at the time.
Great White Albums Ranked (only decided to include the Jack era albums and included the first E.P.) 12 - Rising (2009) 11 - Back To The Rythym (2007) 10 - Sail Away (1994) 9 - Hooked (1991) 8 - Shot In The Dark (1986) 7 - Let It Rock (1996) 6 - Can’t Get There From Here (1999) 5 - …Twice Shy (1989) 4 - Once Bitten (1987) 3 - Psycho City (1992) 2 - Out Of The Night E.P. (1983) 1 - Great White (1984) Yeah I prefer Great White when they were a Metal band hahaha! R.I.P. Jack Russell (1960 - 2024)
I actually think the original Portrait Records 1999 edition of "Cant Get There From Here" has the new logo and a reissued version or import went back to the clasic logo. Anyway - moot point because everything the band did is fantastic as always! 🎸🎶😎
I made sure to clarify this in the video because I knew there would be someone like you trying to contradict me. The Japanese edition came out first with the classic logo. The US edition on Portrait came out later and the band changed for that release. But the classic logo was first. 🤦♂️
mine number one would be ‘once bitten’… stick it n shot in the dark are close second…. btw my cassette album cover for ‘stick it’ is the same as ur cd… this is my preferred album cover than the black one… my cd copy is the black cover…. really don’t like it…. 😅
First thumbs UP on this video. I wanna go back to other postings and comment. I bought the new Bon Jovi album at Wal Mart. This one is bit more sensitive in discussing the Dishwasher issue. I think it is a 50 50 answer. Half are just stupid (the young, mentally challenged or are Democrats) and other half are lazy to use their ears. So, the big sign is for kids over 12 cause they are by now supposed to know how to read and those starting to waiver in brain capacity and just need a little bit of a reminder because they can't hear it running (too much loud rock'n roll has screwed up their hearing - this is where I fit in. LOL) I watch the third shorty video, but need to not make a comment. Ranking White Snake albums, wish you would do these live, so we could interact with you. It would be fun. But You did do a wonderful good job explaining all your albums.
I don’t consider Mark Kendall’s version at all GW…couldn’t buy the CD’s, nothing personal - they’re just boring/not good. To be fair “Rising” was a small step above those. “Rising” was the start of GW’s Generic album titles/songs/artwork.
No actually Jack Russell is not. The band was not found liable in the suit. The people who were responsible for the deaths were management and the club owners. They had installed non-fireproof sound insulation which is a code violation and illegal. They ultimately were found to be responsible and went to jail. Get your facts straight before spewing falsehoods.
No need to be a dick just because you’re not a fan. He’s always been a great singer. If you paid attention to the video and listened to the history you’d know the band had quite a bit success back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. So this isn’t coming out of nowhere. Next time listen to you mama…if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.

I wanted to get your opinion on the album that Jack Russell did with Tracii guns
It’s a brilliant album and it was already included in my Top 20 albums of the year so far.
Great White Albums Ranked (only decided to include the Jack era albums and included the first E.P.)
12 - Rising (2009)
11 - Back To The Rythym (2007)
10 - Sail Away (1994)
9 - Hooked (1991)
8 - Shot In The Dark (1986)
7 - Let It Rock (1996)
6 - Can’t Get There From Here (1999)
5 - …Twice Shy (1989)
4 - Once Bitten (1987)
3 - Psycho City (1992)
2 - Out Of The Night E.P. (1983)
1 - Great White (1984)
Yeah I prefer Great White when they were a Metal band hahaha!
Oh you're right! Japanese version came out in May 1999 with the classic logo and the US version came out in July 1999 with the updated band logo. 🎶😎👍
This channel is about music! Those of you who want controversies go somewhere else.
mine number one would be ‘once bitten’… stick it n shot in the dark are close second…. btw my cassette album cover for ‘stick it’ is the same as ur cd… this is my preferred album cover than the black one… my cd copy is the black cover…. really don’t like it…. 😅
Brendon, do you like ABBA?
Vinyl nuts may not know that Stages was actually released on vinyl, a few years ago
Does this work? Trying browser. Great White great albums. How many? Have no way near that many GW lps.
Not sure what you’re trying to say but there is lots of great Great White albums to be explored…hope you check some of them out 👍
I always thought Powerslave was their best effort
Why is Hooked so loved? Psycho City is such a masterpiece but Hooked is just a “good” album.
Where is the Led Zeppelin Cover Album No 1?
I don’t consider Mark Kendall’s version at all GW…couldn’t buy the CD’s, nothing personal - they’re just boring/not good. To be fair “Rising” was a small step above those. “Rising” was the start of GW’s Generic album titles/songs/artwork.
Hooked for me..all filler
I love it! 👍
Let’s not forget that this guy is responsible for a 100 people’s death.
No he wasn’t it was the managers at the club!! Jack tried to put it out!
@@BrendonSnyder Not true. Their tour manager plead guilty and was sentenced to 15 years, but only served 4z
do your homework before you comment, lets not forget you dont know what you are talking about
What an uninformed clown to make a statement like that
Can’t rank them because none of them are in my top 100 metal rock albums. He died now he’s one of rocks greatest singers. I don’t get it.
