The Irene Cara story really makes me sad and somewhat angry. This woman had everything..the voice, the looks, she was a generational talent for sure. She could sing, play piano, act, and dance, she won an Oscar- everything a person needed to be successful and have longevity in the industry. Some horrible people robbed her of that success, that longevity, due to greed. She didn't get her money she was supposed to receive and as a result of her fighting for it, she was swept under the rug, banished. Nobody wanted to work with her anymore. All that talent, gone by the late 80s into obscurity. Irene Cara should have still been a household name well into the 90s and beyond. But looking at this video, one can clearly see that she has had peace in her life despite her missed opportunities. She's aged wonderfully still enjoys doing what she has always done best. She seems grateful to have had an opportunity to begin with and still celebrates what she DID achieve...a lot In a little bit of time. Suddenly the story isn't so sad after all.
Who's still listening to this angel songbird in 2024? What a feeling it is to go back in time along the rivers of your memory to a much simpler way of life, the 1980s.
She deserved Whitney and Mariah fame and even more. I think she has the most beautiful voice I've ever heard and her charisma is off the charts. She was simply incredible
Celine Dion is remembered for "My heart will go on", Berlin is remembered for "Take my breath away", Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes are both remembered for "(I've had) the time of my life", and Irene Cara will always be remembered for "What a feeling". Classics like these are forever. RIP Irene
I've been listening to this song for the last 4 days straight non stop on UA-cam music. I'm 43 and this is the most positive song I've ever heard in my entire life. Irene Cara radiates so much positive energy in this song.

Irene Cara had more talent in her pinky toe than Jennifer Lopez or Beyonce could even dream of.
RIP Irene. She was an underrated singer! Will never be forgotten!

I just woke up to find out she passed yesterday. She and this song were one of the most positive things to come out of the 80's. I'm ready to cry.
I am still listening to this song, October 2, 2020. Irene Cara still looks good 40 years later.
This is one of the best song in the history of music.
