Sadly people pay more then that for games if u get the full sims 3 your around 2k full sims 4 is around 4-5 idk how much its fully up too now i havent done the math in a few yesrs then theres a few others that have loads of dlc and yes dlc are optional but for alot of games these days sadly the dlc are often needed to fully get everything out of a game
