Thanks for the info,, just got back into collections / flipping,, didn't even know about short print cards untill I ran into to cards with the same # different pic?? Now I have the task of going threw 3 years of what I thought were standard cards/ commons to find all the short prints!!! Been threw one box & already found 12... Gonna be a good day 👍
Welcome back!! I actually just went through all my old collection and organized them ( will be posting a video on some tips there) it was an awesome trip down memory lane despite how long it took to do lol! Keep at it!
Hopefully you can help me with this for 2022 playbook football. I have a 2022-23 playbook football, blue parralel and it is also a mosaic. Do you know how to identify on this brand whether or not is in fact a SP or SSP?
Wow thank you i have been trying to figure out a card i have been sitting on. Thanks to you i now know its a SSP 50cards or less. It is a 2016 panini contenders draft pick Carson Wentz auto passing grades card #6.. YOU ROCK.....
Just getting back into hobby. Thank for the info, I had to ask someone why a card would be upsidedown in a pack.. sometimes it can be a auto too. Thanks
For the most part- but now Topps tends to include Factory Set Exclusive cards to make buying the full set more desirable. For example the 2020 Topps Set
Parlay Jay thanks. That’s actually the set I just bought, and went through every serial # hoping there might be a variation or 2 in the set somewhere but not a one. 😩
Woohooo! Glad this one helped clear that up!! One thing Topps has started doing with short prints is placing them in the packs facing backwards so that when you get a backwards card you’ll also know it’s a short print
Thanks for the information on SSP. I used to think just numbered cards were short prints now I understand how much money I have potentially lost lol jk jk I still have all my cards lol have a good day brotha 🙏🏽
If you Google the year and name of the set you are trying to look for specifically there are a number of great websites that will list the code for that particular set and if it represents sp or SSP , etc
Something happened to them in the past two months- suddenly they aren’t posting checklists like they used to. Beckett still does though. Check them out
Unfortunately no- the older the card the harder it is to identify if it’s a shortprint or error card. For those I would recommend googling “short prints or error card plus the set name and year” there are some great websites that did all the legwork for us
I have a question showing my stupidity. Yes I was one of those who collected back in the 80’s and early 90’s. Stopped for a while and have gotten back into it now. My question is how far back or when actually did short prints and variations start? Because to the best of my knowledge there wasn’t things like that years ago. Granted there was just a handful of cards and sets you could collect and now there are dozens. Again guys sorry for my stupidity. Look forward to your comments. Take it easy on me.
No question is a stupid question! Shirt prints have been around dating back to the 40s however the big difference is back then it was unintentionally done where as now it is intentional. I believe the modern version of short printing started around the early 2000s
This video was from a few years ago where horizontal cards were often short prints- since then things have changed and horizontals are more likely base than sp
It depends on the year and product - the code on the back in the best way- but in recent years , Topps, for example started placing them backwards in packs and with the “SP” or “SSP” letters on the back
Bro I have been putting hours into your channel and learning so much. Thank you for that bro. But I have purchased a "lot" from my friend because he had alot of time to do and he was selling everything so I bought crates of baseball, football and basketball. I have a little of everything. Probably around 10K. I threw away the junk so this is what's left over.i want to sell it all at once. Id only be wanting like 10 or 15% of what they are worth. Got any ideas?
100s of 1971 20 ken kriffey Jr's 25 mike trouts 20 Paul goldschmidt (one numbered 2/10) 8 Aaron Judge rookies ALOT of short prints Jersey cards Autographs
A short print is a card that they don’t print much of- it’s a lot rarer than a typical base Card counterpart. A variation is more rare than a base, but less rare than a short print. Somewhere in between
Im sorry to hear that! This is also a 4 year old video and since then topps had significantly changed the way to identify short prints in more modern releases- if you have specific sets or years you are trying to identify short prints in- let me know and I’m happy to help

Wow. 12 short prints in one box? . That’s a crazy amount even in a 5000 count box.
I was in the same boat. The serialization and SP were way different than the past. I like it though
Thanks bro.. just started collecting again from the 90s
No problem 👍
This Chanel is so underrated! Keep up the top notch content-you’re gonna blow up soon!
Thank you so much for watching! So glad you find it helpful!

Very helpful Thanks a lot!
Thanks for watching @Steve Burger! I’m glad it was helpful!
but is the short print or variation always going to have that code can there be a short printer variation that doesn't have that code
@philzfan for the topps sets that have codes, the short prints always have the corresponding code on the bottom
Sometimes the SP will be turn over in the pack, with back side of the card facing you.
Yes that’s right! This video is a bit older - it was before they were putting SPs upside down.
Just getting back into hobby. Thank for the info, I had to ask someone why a card would be upsidedown in a pack.. sometimes it can be a auto too.
Thanks
That’s right!
Are short prints / variations only found in packs, or can they also be found randomly within complete sets?
For the most part- but now Topps tends to include Factory Set Exclusive cards to make buying the full set more desirable. For example the 2020 Topps Set
Parlay Jay thanks. That’s actually the set I just bought, and went through every serial # hoping there might be a variation or 2 in the set somewhere but not a one. 😩
Gotcha! You May have gotten a pack in the box for that set-‘if so that’s where the exclusives would be
Nice 👍 thx for this, interesting
You are welcome! I’m glad you found it helpful!
Are these short prints only on baseball topps cards?
Hi JGs- any sport or brand can have a short print - topps is just more commonly known for creating them!
Good explanations. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
@@ParlayJaySports it was. This has been an ongoing issue and confusion of mine, for a while now.
Woohooo! Glad this one helped clear that up!! One thing Topps has started doing with short prints is placing them in the packs facing backwards so that when you get a backwards card you’ll also know it’s a short print
@@ParlayJaySports I remember hearing that before. At least they do that.
@@ParlayJaySports BTW do you know why a card would be Listed(on a Price Guide), but not actually Priced?
Nice explanation dude
Thank you for watching! I’m glad you found this helpful!
Very helpful
So only topps have short print or all kinds
There are short prints in all different products
Thanks for the information on SSP. I used to think just numbered cards were short prints now I understand how much money I have potentially lost lol jk jk I still have all my cards lol have a good day brotha 🙏🏽
I’m glad it helped! Thank you for watching!!!
That is a catchy name
Good stuff!!⚾️💯💥💣😎
Glad you enjoyed it!! Thanks for watching!
Stil not understanding the number on the codes to look for pn sp,s or ssp
If you Google the year and name of the set you are trying to look for specifically there are a number of great websites that will list the code for that particular set and if it represents sp or SSP , etc
@@ParlayJaySports thank u for your information..so helpful..
Yep I'm from the junk wax era and getting back into it and I'll tell ya its like coming out of baseball card prison it's all whole new scene.
Are those websites free.?
great video...learned something today
@yankees_fan_i_am THANK YOU for watching! Really happy that this was helpful to you! Stay tuned for more! Welcome to the fam!
I think I have a short print A-Rod electric diamond!
Dude I went to that cardboard connection nothing shows what you was taking about
Something happened to them in the past two months- suddenly they aren’t posting checklists like they used to. Beckett still does though. Check them out
@@ParlayJaySports I'm not paying for beckett
@@micahlangley6230 checklists are free on their website
@ParlayJaySports ok how you look it up and I have a card he's clapping but not a sp
What about the early 90s cards where they did a lot of horizontal base cards. Is there an easier way for those era cards
Unfortunately no- the older the card the harder it is to identify if it’s a shortprint or error card. For those I would recommend googling “short prints or error card plus the set name and year” there are some great websites that did all the legwork for us

Ok you telling us horizontal is a short print but I have alot of them why don't they just put sp so you taking didn't help me at all

Yes those were my mispronunciation days!!
All you had to do was say the code is different lol..
4 minutes in and I still don’t understand what a short print it
Ah bummer I’m sorry you feel that way- we will work on shorter videos that get to the point faster! Thanks for your feedback!
Good video overall I just heard short print in variation thrown around a lot and have been trying to figure out what it means
A short print is a card that they don’t print much of- it’s a lot rarer than a typical base Card counterpart.
A variation is more rare than a base, but less rare than a short print. Somewhere in between
Only got 6 minutes in and all I got out of this was speculation not even facts on how to figure out short prints
Thanks for watching! You must not have seen where I explain the codes on the back which dictate short prints
This video did not help
Sorry you didn’t like the video- since its creation short prints have changed significantly so a part two would help as well!
