This made me change my mind about Landon. I hated him until this scene. This song showed he really did understand Hope. Which made me absolutely hate him even more than I did originally when he pulled the crap he did during the Miss Mystic Falls episode.
The Mystic Falls dance thing was more than justifiable. Hope did him dirty but he didn't do it out of spite. He left because he was literally breaking apart after learning that his mother, the one he had searched his entire life for, was dead. To make things worse, the second person in the world who has his complete trust lied about it, leaving him to wonder about the truth the rest of his life. Episode 13 was a great example of how harmful not knowing was to him. If it was Hope in Landon's place, she wouldn't have left. She would have incarnated Landon to the spot. I really love Hope but she had no right to do what she did and at the same time, she is now a complete hypocrite.

Not to mention he spent the entire episode being a irrational jealous ass, to the point of accusing a vampire of turning MG's mom into stone. He emotionally abused Hope by talking about Hope's mom even after she told him to stop. So..tell me again how Landon's the poor little victim of this episode? And Hope grew up idolizing Always and Forever, family above all, love is power. Her mother went through hell to bring Hope to this world, was her best friend. How else do you expect her to react when Landon's mom chose to kill herself rather than own up to being a mom, after Sayla admitted to never having wanted to be a mother in the first place. Hope's natural reaction was to protect Landon from that. So she lied. Her lie was in an effort to protect Landon. Landon lies to protect himself. He also has a very bad habit of playing a victim and making other's wrongs seem bigger than they are, but turn around and make a thousand and one excuses for his wrongs.

Yet, he has apologized several times and tried to be better for Hope, who he knows to appreciate truth beyond anything. Hope didn't just lie and eat her own teachings, she didn't even want to admit that she did anything wrong. If Landon is the one making excuses, I have news for you. They're made for each other in that front. Hope KIDNAPPED her own mother to reconnect with her father, to know why he abandoned her. At least Landon didn't get 4 people killed in the way.

If it wasn't for Jeremy, that lie would have gotten at least Rafael killed by the hunter because Landon convinced Rafael to use his abilities out in the open just to make a quick buck, exposing him. Hope was a stupid teenager who was desperate to reconnect with her father, who she barely got to spend any time with. Yes she kidnapped Hayley and left her vulnerable for the purists but Hope does a damn good job of tearing herself apart for that even after Hayley expressly forgave her. You also have to keep in mind that if it wasn't for the purists, Hayley would have been unharmed and it would have just been another Mikaelson antic. Hope cannot be blamed for the four deaths because that was on the vampire purists. AND, Hope went above and beyond to help Landon. Even to the point of sacrificing herself to protect him. She could have waited for Malivore to rise and then physically fight him, but that would mean that Landon becomes a meat suit. She prevented that from happening. What did Landon ever do for her except whine and complain and constantly disappoint and hurt her?

Yet, without her actions they would all be alive. Including a 15 years boy that she didn't give a second thought after the episode he died. It's cute to think that she did it for Landon but Malivore was everyone's problem and if he rose and got Landon, he would have unleashed supernatural apocalypse. Even in his golem form he would have been close to invulnerable unless Clarke would have revealed the spell to disolve him again. One that vampires, werewolves or witches couldn't avoid this time since his intended vessel will, according to Clarke, develop Malivore's powers without weaknesses.
