    As a goalkeeper, that foul was totally intentional! She knew what she was doing & got lucky to avoid a red there! Also, speaking from a players perspective, parents like that suck the fun right out of playing such a beautiful game, especially if they are parents for your team.

    Last year when Kent Roosevelt played Highland the “ keep it classy” guy sat in Kent’s home section of the stands and proceeded to run his mouth the same way and wanting to fight. I even pointed out the sign directly behind him that was clearly marked home. The funniest part is he’s only 5’ tall probably why he acts like a little kid.

    Alright, nothing like juicy drama in a playoff match:
    0:30 this is obstruction, since she actively blocks the opposing player outside of playing distance.
    1:07 Arm out and elbow used (albeit slightly so no card), not exactly sure why anyone thinks this is a good idea.
    2:30 edit: after confirmation from the uploader, the situation depicted was the player (8 white) recieving a yellow card for attempting to prevent a goal with her hands, while a goal was still scored. (NFHS rule 12-8-1). I don't know why the coach would want to argue this. This just sets up the risk of an unnessecary yellow for dissent. On a correct decision.
    3:02 Yeah, that's a bad foul to take. I can see why this would be deemed a yellow, as the cut from the attacking player before getting hit moved the ball more towards the corner rather than the goal. I wouldn't have had any issues with a red however, since this was outside the penalty area and can be debated that it is denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity. The fact she gives the "what do you mean" face and arm gesture after getting told by the referee (presumably) why she was booked really tells me she has an attitude. She knew what she did.
    3:40 foul here for charging, as the white player's contact was into green's back. I'm alright with no card here since the contact really isn't enough to warrant it.
    3:54 foul on green for holding, which is fine, seeing as how white really didn't make any illegal act prior to being held. And then the coup de grace...
    3:59 what on earth possesses you to think that kicking the ball away deliberately with under 10 seconds when it is not your free kick to take is ok? Like come on now, you had more than a few seconds to think this over and you still pull that? Yellow card for unnecessary delay, as the NFHS rules puts it.
    The pettiness is real with that spectator. Maybe if he took a referee course he would have thought about any of those situations differently. But hey, what do I know?

    • @CaptainDawg02
      @CaptainDawg02 2 роки тому +2

      The 2:30 mark I think has to do with that player you see on the sidelines. I believe she is the one who tried to stop the goal right before it with her hand (you can see her body language clearly in the video when it happened). Perhaps she got a card or I don't know? It very easily could have been a red card as it's within the rules.
      The one where the keeper charges out looked to me like a clear DOGSO from the camera angle provided. The CB looked beat and the keeper was the last defender at that point. Her foul impeded the striker and took her out wide which then allowed for the CB to recover. I would have given a red here, especially since she charged out of the box and used her entire body to block (hands were way up in an unnatural position as she was then a field player).
      I am so sick and tired of the spectators. They and the coaches are the chief reason why we don't have more refs and why the few we have are being worked to the bone. What would you rather have for your kids, games to play with refs or no refs & no games? We are dangerously close to cancelling seasons.

    • @Raider025
      @Raider025 2 роки тому +1

      @@CaptainDawg02 The rules actually don't allow a red for a handball if a goal is still scored from the play (see NFHS rule 12-8-1). A yellow is the worst that could be given in this scenario, which if it was given, would make sense.
      The play with the keeper could be argued both ways. As I stated, I have no issues with either color card, as from the angle we have, I can't see very clearly if the attacker will win the ball after she takes the touch hard right before getting fouled. In order to disqualify (red card term in NFHS), the same 4 D's used in USSF/FIFA laws apply. One of them is the distance from player fouled to ball, and the likelihood that she can recover the ball should the foul not have occurred. If there is any doubt in the opinion of the referee on the day, he can't give a red. But again, each persons definition of "obvious" is slightly different, so disagreements can happen, and that's ok.
      The ref shortage is certainly becoming a bigger issue in every state. For example, this season I have been assigned about 6 or 7 doubleheaders (the JV game with the Varsity behind it). That isn't exactly optimal nor recommended, but that's how we cover matches.

      @@Raider025 - Ahh...figured that was why they were talking was because a card was shown. I don't ref within HS, just DA (MLS Next, NPL, GAL, DPL, ECNL). Even if it did happen, I probably would have given a caution here as the goal still happened, especially because it was a deliberate attempt to stop a goal from scoring. Saw an earlier comment before stating they would have given red for that...
      Again, camera angles and the like... From this only perspective it looked closer to a red DOGSO, but I get the hesitation with the location of the CB before the keeper came outside the box. I didn't like the reaction the keeper had, however, to the yellow. Was it because she was expecting red and it didn't happen OR was it because she for some odd reason didn't think it deserved a card at all...and she can just charge out of her goal outside her box and physically try to take girls down if she can't get to the ball? (I tend to think the latter, but perhaps I am too cynical these days with the number of games we are doing every freaking weekend). I have 5 GAL & MLS Next games on Saturday and then off Sunday as I need to take my daughter out of state for her game and I have in my inbox currently 56 games from my assignor STILL needing crew (luckily mostly ARs, but still).

      There was no PK awarded. The foul occurred about 6 yards outside the box. The penalty area can be seen to be at the 8 yard line when the camera zooms out at 3:04. The contact occurred at the 14 or so yard line.

    Where’s the defense? Not to take away from the goals, they were all good plays, on target. But you need more than bodies in the box or runners to defend your goal. goalies got zero support in this. inexperienced penalties which is expected in high school but the disrespect from adults was foul.
