8 month pregnant mama from Germany here, just had an exhausting day outside in the sun. Finally sitting down on the sofa, decided to treat myself with a small ice cream and relax, when your new video suddenly pops up.. BEST ENDING for the day! Thank you! 😍😍😍😍😍
When you’re dyeing, it helps if you pre-wash the item. That removes the sizing. After you dye it, add white vinegar to the water in the washing machine. That will set the dye. Love your videos!
Hi! Leaving the stain for 15 min does not change how much/ how the wood grain takes the stain. Instead it may leave blotchy spots. Always wipe right after applying stain, if the wood does not get the color how you want you can re-apply again and wipe right after. However, leaving it longer or doing multiple coats will not change drastically from the first time you apply stain. How it looks or “soaks” it up depends on the type of wood grain. 💕
That has not been my experience with stain. I always apply pre-stain wood conditioner, and immediately apply a first coat of stain. 24 hours later I apply a second coat. The second coat always makes it even and dark, no blotchiness. Patience seems to pay off every time.
You need to wash the sheets first to remove the manufacturer’s fabric sizing. I’ve always been taught that the fabric should be wet prior to dying. As is stated on the bottle of dye. I think that is the reason the dye was so light. Love your ideas and videos thank you.
A tip for tie dye! Wash your fabric BEFORE dying to get rid of any sizing (fabric stiffening starches). Also, dye wet fabric instead of dry fabric. Both those steps make it much easier for the dye to penetrate the fabric!
“ One of my favorite things honestly you guys, is to walk around IKEA aimlessly for like four plus hours…” how many of us would love to do this with Drew?! ❤️And I’m not even a shopper!😂
My first tie-dye was an elementary school art project in the 60’s. I made a scarf for my Mom for Mother’s Day. Naturally plenty more tie-dying afterwards as well. In the 80’s my twin daughters wanted to dress up as hippies for Halloween so that was their first time tie-dying. The local newspaper posted photos of them and labeled them Peace & Love. I still love love tie dye. Thanks for the inspiration as always.
A few years ago I wanted a light purple quilt cover but couldn't find one I liked. So I bought a plain white cover at a charity shop (thrift store), got some Dylon dye and proceeded to dye it. Well surprise, surprise as it wasn't actually as plain as I'd thought. The dye brought up a beautiful Paisley pattern that had been on the cover that I just hadn't noticed until dyeing it as it was white on white!! (I don't know what you call that). Within no time, my daughter had that cover as she, too, fell in love with it! The Paisley print showed up as a light purple, too, but slightly lighter than the rest of the cover because of whatever had made the print!
I used this same dye on cotton white sheets and it washed out in the washer. It was so bizarre. But since I’ve learned it’s a stain not a real permanent dye. The powder dyes work the best for this project. You are so talented I love all your videos and projects!! ❤
My mum constantly argued with me about how IKEA products suck then I showed her your videos and she was like 😯🤯 Im so excited to try these DIY projects ✨
I miss u Drew! U r like my home here in UA-cam that even if I was away for a little while, I only feel love and radiant vibes whenever I come back. Been here since you just have a 100k subs, but look at u now! Love from a Filo fan from the Philippines!
Wash before dyeing with gentle soap and vinegar. After your dying process Dry in dryer to lock in color Then wash again with vinegar rinse. Dry as usual. World of difference.
Big pot with salt . When boiling, add the fabric and let it boil for a few minutes. Let in seat in the water until it gets cold. Then rinse with cold water.
Thank you so much for the mention!! This is such a dream come true! Your method is much easier and looks so amazing. As always, I love this video and am so honored to have inspired you!!
I used the chip bowl as a cover for a ceiling pot light with an opaque circle of plastic in the centre as a diffuser. It gives off a lovely warm soft light that I was looking for in an alcove off my living room. I just used blue tack to attach it directly to the ceiling 😬 😳 😉
You NEED to use pre-stain/wood conditioner when staining pine. It’s absorb WAY better than highlight the grain instead of being so blotchy. It’s so easy, and very worth it.
Best timing ever! Yesterday I saw that IKEA-table online and planned to go there today to buy it. I like the design but thought it was just a tiny bit too plain. My creativity just got a boooooost 🤩
Drew, I love your videos! Literally replay them in the background when I just want some inspirational energy; your ideas, the music, even you cheerful voice... It's a whole vibe.
Can't choose which I like the best, one thing about tie dying, your better of with the diys that go in the washing machine, colours are so much brighter. Give it a go next time but check first some come with the salt built in and some you add separately. 😉🤩😘
Wow, you did it again! So impressed, loved all the projects, but that little rub and buff detail on the wall hooks inspired me to use those stripes on some of my projects.
I love watching your Ikea hacks, Drew! And all your DIYS and makeovers as they always turn out so great. But what really impresses me is your endless patience to complete every repetitive task. 👏🏼
That lantern ship bowl diy looks awesome! I don't love the open light look so I am deffenetly trying this but adding some raffia or rope or maybe yarn in between the sticks. Great idea sparking other great ideas 🥳⭐
I don’t know if the dye instructions told you this but there is often a step prior to the dyeing process where they suggest to wash or at least wet the fabric first, and then usually you need to ‘set’ the dye afterwards, usually with salt. 💕
I always enjoy your tutorials and I love the way you just "go with it" sometimes! It builds my confidence to not put up roadblocks in my own way when I am not so sure what I am doing!
Not adding salt is definitely why the first colour didn't stay, if you're using cotton you need something to help the dye adhere to the fabric and stay on through washing
Soak the fabric in a warm water/soda ash (Calcium Carbonate) solution for at least 20 mins (the longer the better) then put your fabric in the dye. It'll help the stain set and prevent all your colour coming out in the first wash.
I’ve got to tie dye sheets for my spare room!! Very nice!! This week I’m chalk painting & stenciling an old sleigh bed anthropology style! Can’t wait to see the end product 😊
That lamp is fabulous, I was thinking how it would look with some fabric inserted, too. And that end table was pure genus! I'm looking up the IKEA hacks next.
I love the wall hooks and table, they came out really luxe looking! I totally love the table. I’ve had trouble locating rattan that doesn’t cost a fortune though. The lamp is also really cool! Thanks for making things that are cost friendly!

Viele Grüße nach Deutschland aus Florida! Alles Gute für die Geburt! ❤️
Congratulations Mama ❤️
Put your feet up, you earned it!
Congratulations mama! Sending love from Canada 🤍
Congratulations! Glad your day ended well ☺️❤️

Greetings from an old hippie who tie-dyed everything that would hold still during the '70s!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Me too!
Love this!
That's awesome, I bet you looked cool AF!
🤣😂

if its a soft wood, a wood conditioner is a must, this allows the stain to be evenly applied and not blotchy. hard woods don't need this step
A dark, warm-toned, cool, neutral brown? 🤪
He just be saying stuff and hoping it sticks
Lol
8:24 hahhaa
I love how you show when a craft fails, We are all only human . Sometimes fails happen .I don't feel so bad when my craft bombs.

Also adding a cup of table salt helps too.
Ohhh ok did not know that!
I've also found that Rit dye works a lot better on the stove, if your fabric can take the heat.
Unless the dye says otherwise on the box you have to use salt to fix the colour.... otherwise it just washes out.
Yep. Wash to remove the sizing, dye, then set with vinegar in washer to set the dye. 👍👍
dipping it in vinegar after the dye...
helps "seal" the color.
Would love to see you visit McKenna and lend your Skillz in her home reno.
The lantern..... that was amazing! They were all really good, but the lantern, STOP! Amazing!
A tip for tie dye! Wash your fabric BEFORE dying to get rid of any sizing (fabric stiffening starches). Also, dye wet fabric instead of dry fabric. Both those steps make it much easier for the dye to penetrate the fabric!
For a 60 y.o. who NEEDS to downsize, YOU cause me to want a larger house/more rooms to decorate!
Thank you for the onspiration(s)!

You are endlessly inventive and you put the other IKEA hackers to shame. Your attention to detail is almost unparallelled
Perfect channel for me. I don't want a boring looking ikea furniture and i don't want to spend so much time in DIY my own furniture from scratch.
As a swede I just love it when you pronounce the names of the ikea products 😍

walking around IKEA for 4+ hours is a whooooole mood! My mom and I can easily do 6+ lol, my dad learned early on to not come with
Rattan side table is so crisp and elegant!
try putting the tie died fabric in the fridge for a few days prior to washing it, it helps to keep the color vibrant.
Sooooo Creative. PROUD of you. Love the way your mind thinks. I ❤️ U. Mom 😌
I understand what you mean..your son is super creative , So, you must be a proud mom. Give him my regards from a mom in the Netherlands. ;)
I love finding your posts Delana.❤
He has such vision and he’s so inspirational!
This is the sweetest, most wholesome post, so adorable.
You could fill the gap at the top of the tray with wood filler/caulking and sand it down for a smoother finish! Loved the side table so much.

That brown color for your sheets was gorgeous. Also loved 🥰 the bowls into lamps.
I am OBSESSED with that Ikea table

Loved all 3. The lamp reminds me of my mother's oil lamp from the 70's. The table was my favorite. Now I'm going back to cooking for the week.
😲 Wow I love the sheets and the table most...the lamp was pretty cool too. I admire that you put so much work and patience into your projects.
Wash before dyeing with gentle soap and vinegar.
After your dying process
Dry in dryer to lock in color
Then wash again with vinegar rinse.
Dry as usual. World of difference.
The second tie dye turned out amazing!
I love the color of the final sheets you made! Beautiful!
All great projects, but the tray is my favorite. !
As always, wonderful projects!
Hugs from Spain!
Love the lamp shape and table hack. So cute.
Big pot with salt . When boiling, add the fabric and let it boil for a few minutes. Let in seat in the water until it gets cold. Then rinse with cold water.
I work at ikea and I see people randomly stacking things every day, so fun to watch😍😂
The table is mind-blowing

The aha moment when you plopped the lampshade on that bulb 🔥🔥🔥
Absolutely love the caned side table and the lampshade! Brilliant!
I love the lamp with the chips tray.
I love what you did for the candlestick lamp
THAT WALL HOOK.....YUM! GOING TO TRY THAT ASAP
I would have painted the inside trim of the tray, too, but this looks CUTE

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED that Rattan Table!!!!

I really liked the lamp hack. Very cute.
Could you do DIY outdoor small furniture? Plant holders? Table? Dreamcatcher? Windcatcher? Love your channel!
I love that side table so freaking much ❤
Can't choose which I like the best, one thing about tie dying, your better of with the diys that go in the washing machine, colours are so much brighter. Give it a go next time but check first some come with the salt built in and some you add separately. 😉🤩😘
IKEA hacks are my favourite videos of this channel too 🥰
You are just getting better and better and better! I really enjoy your channel and YOU! Love you positive energy!
I also saw another diy on the table where they used resin and dried flowers. It looked so cool.
That side table 😍😍😍😍😍
I adore the lamp shade & I really like the side table. You are truly talented!
I absolutely loved the bed sheets & the cane table is so chic.
Wow, you did it again! So impressed, loved all the projects, but that little rub and buff detail on the wall hooks inspired me to use those stripes on some of my projects.
I love the lamp shade hack.
I love watching your Ikea hacks, Drew! And all your DIYS and makeovers as they always turn out so great. But what really impresses me is your endless patience to complete every repetitive task. 👏🏼
Those tye dye sheets are everything!
Thank you for your positive greetings, I started feel myself better
That table was so stylish! Love your ideas.
That lantern ship bowl diy looks awesome! I don't love the open light look so I am deffenetly trying this but adding some raffia or rope or maybe yarn in between the sticks. Great idea sparking other great ideas 🥳⭐
I don’t like the open light look either (it blinds!) but you just offered a great alternative! I’m going to try it too.
I was actually thinking it would look better with double the number of dowels for this exact reason
I was wondering if I could carefully glue shoji paper to the inside.
The coat rack hack really inspired me!
I don’t know if the dye instructions told you this but there is often a step prior to the dyeing process where they suggest to wash or at least wet the fabric first, and then usually you need to ‘set’ the dye afterwards, usually with salt. 💕
3:41 this dye method similar to classic traditional Batik pattern from South Borneo, it's called "Kain Sasirangan"
The last table is my favourite !!!!!!
Love you 💗💗
Wow!! I just loved the side table DIY. It looked so chic.
LMAO @ WALGREENS SCRUNCHY SHIRTS!!!!! Love love love the brown sheets!!!

Sitting on the beach in the Dominican Republic and enjoying your diys! Love them! 🙂❤🌴🏖
I could legit spend all day in IKEA, much to my bfs dismay 😝i love a good IKEA hack 😋 love the tray table, it turned out so good 👌
Wow that side table is freakin’ awesome 👏🏻
Obsessed with the tie dye sheets. I am going to try this as a fun project with my 11 year old daughter. So good
Dollar Tree has some lovely little fingertips protectors for a buck! I picked up several packages.
that ✨amazing✨ moment when you make your iced coffee and get the notification you posted a new vide! love the never ending creativity 💛
Love the wall hooks and the table.
I LOVE that last one!
Not adding salt is definitely why the first colour didn't stay, if you're using cotton you need something to help the dye adhere to the fabric and stay on through washing
I was thinking the same thing! lol
I add vinegar to mine and it works great... kind of like when you dye Easter eggs 👌😂
Soak the fabric in a warm water/soda ash (Calcium Carbonate) solution for at least 20 mins (the longer the better) then put your fabric in the dye. It'll help the stain set and prevent all your colour coming out in the first wash.
Your imagination is incredible 😍
I’m so inlove with the last project!!!!! it looks so seamless 🥺🖤
Use some Soda ash soak prior to washing, it will keep your color in better.
I’ve got to tie dye sheets for my spare room!! Very nice!! This week I’m chalk painting & stenciling an old sleigh bed anthropology style! Can’t wait to see the end product 😊
