Please no more excuses Pep has been making poor decisions since last season: form forcing Julian in the team and out of position long after he showed he was more if a liability than an asset while also doing so at the expense of Foden to playing a wingback system that the players could not effectively execute as evidenced by the 133% increase in conceded goals from the counter attack in the PL compared to the previous season and even when during the Treble season, Pep came out and said Walker could not give him what he wanted (playing as a WB) and yet played him there the whole following season., I could go on. But I think the team won the PL in spite of Pep and not bc of him as was always the case previously. This season, Pep is obsessed with playing a 3-1-6 that we simply do not have the players to execute properly due to injury, poor recruitment, and too many players with lost legs. This has been abundantly clear since the 4th game of the season we played and the evidence only mounted more and more with our midfield be overrun by every team we have played. These are structural issues bc that is how Pep wants to set the team up. How many games have we rode our luck into winning? 2-3 maybe more? Even you would admit the Fulham and Brentford games were pure luck. And yet every time we get our midfield overrun and our defense is too high up the pitch with not enough defenders left to defend (every team from Bratia Slava (spelling) to Southampton to Bournemouth to Bright to Sporting), Pep seems only to want to double down on it. No, you're missing the point. All teams who have a chance of winning the PL have motivation, skill and good tactics. You have to have more of all three than any of these other clubs to win it which is what makes City's achievements even more unbelievable, especially with City being a club that has had smaller squads than their rivals throughout these titles.
Sprints doesn't really matter when City is the team with the team with most possessions. You're comparing an entire 38 games of last season with just 11 games this season. Compare it when the season ends, you will find the stats at the same level

We do need proven match winners & younger players who can be with Manchester City for long term. For me this season has been very underwhelming due to injuries, aging players & lack of leadership. So far only few of our players have been good enough such as Haaland, Nunes, Savinho, Diaz & Stones. Fair enough performance from Gvardiol, Foden & Kovačić. Doku & Grealish have been mostly unavailable. Not happy from performances from Rico Lewis, Gundogan, Silva. Not sure about injuries of KDB. If he will really make difference. For me it's more simple. We don't have a DM that does the defensive part of the role, and we lack prolific goal scorers outside Erling. Our wingers are brilliant taking on players but poor finishers.
The problem is not just this whole injury thing but rather our poor recruitment in midfield. We have no real out and out creator in the midfield and also we never replaced the goal scorers in the team. Players such as Sterling Mahrez Sane Jesus and Alvarez. Even when those guys were poor they gave us easily 15-20 goal contributions each season. Now look into the team and show me the players who can deliver that

The main reason we are struggling this year in my opinion is because our team is getting older and thus no table to run as much and cover the distance needed of course the injuries have played a vital role. As a team, we need fresh legs, especially in the midfield. We need to replace Kevin Bernando and keep covasic for some matches.

as a newer city fan but a fan of sports across a wider range, I agree with you 100% percent but watching games lately like the loss in EFL was shocking, no one seemed phased by the loss. You used Man Utd as a comparison and rightly so, If they dropped out of a title fight and showed that little motivation, their fans would be up in arms. We have to hold someone accountable but taking the other games like UCL and Prem games we lost, Pep and Haaland seemed to be the only ones kicking off and actually having a fuss so we can't blame them wholly because the players aren't in the right mind set. Most of the players we have on the pitch (uninjured) are the ones with the least titles and should bet the ones with the most intensity as they want to show some spirit and get a name for themselves or build/upkeep their reputation like why we have them there in the first place.

We spend the majority of the game possessing the ball on the opposing half, you literally have to have the high line for the ball support required to maintain that. Honestly peps tactics are about as perfect as current football tactics can possibly get, with one caveat, they are extremely demanding of certain positions to play up to a high standard and depending on injuries or motivation or whatever the problem may be sometimes players will fall short of what the tactics require. Make no mistake though, these possession based tactics are the blueprint for dominating the premier league and are the reason city has had this amazing run. You can win with other tactics but a heavy level of control is really required for extended dominance in what is a very competitive league
The players are tired, unmotivated AND THAT is showing through performance on the pitch. We will continue to struggle if this does not change. I've heard prior to the season that this team was more interested in another CL more than anything. They had a CL trophy hanging in their training room apparently. Time will tell. I cannot fault this team. They have delivered A LOT in a relatively short period of time. The club did not do itself any favors my gutting our academy talent and not spending to pad our bench appropriately in the summer.

We have no real out and out creator in the midfield and also we never replaced the goal scorers in the team. Players such as Sterling Mahrez Sane Jesus and Alvarez. Even when those guys were poor they gave us easily 15-20 goal contributions each season. Now look into the team and show me the players who can deliver that
Well i don't wanna pep out for this season johnny but if you look at it from another point of view we need a successor for pep he won't last coaching man city for eternity we need a new coach and i see that xavi alonso is the perfect successor for prp he has done a historical season with bayer leverkusen and his play style isn't that different from pep but we got a problem we aren't alone in this race for xavi alonso there are other teams who wants him too especially real Madrid

Nice video Johny but I really don’t agree with their analysis. The main reason we are struggling this year in my opinion is because our team is getting older and thus no table to run as much and cover the distance needed of course the injuries have played a vital role. As a team, we need fresh legs, especially in the midfield. We need to replace Kevin Bernando and keep covasic for some matches.

as a newer city fan but a fan of sports across a wider range, I agree with you 100% percent but watching games lately like the loss in EFL was shocking, no one seemed phased by the loss. You used Man Utd as a comparison and rightly so, If they dropped out of a title fight and showed that little motivation, their fans would be up in arms. We have to hold someone accountable but taking the other games like UCL and Prem games we lost, Pep and Haaland seemed to be the only ones kicking off and actually having a fuss so we can't blame them wholly because the players aren't in the right mind set. Most of the players we have on the pitch (uninjured) are the ones with the least titles and should bet the ones with the most intensity as they want to show some spirit and get a name for themselves or build/upkeep their reputation like why we have them there in the first place.

Some of these so called fans confuse me. You can definitely tell the influx of bandwagoners who have no idea about football tactics. Why do people keep saying the problem is the High line? We spend the majority of the game possessing the ball on the opposing half, you literally have to have the high line for the ball support required to maintain that.
Why do people want to argue for a faster; less possession based tactic? That’s not Manchester city football. Are you fans or not, honestly.
Honestly peps tactics are about as perfect as current football tactics can possibly get, with one caveat, they are extremely demanding of certain positions to play up to a high standard and depending on injuries or motivation or whatever the problem may be sometimes players will fall short of what the tactics require.
Make no mistake though, these possession based tactics are the blueprint for dominating the premier league and are the reason city has had this amazing run. You can win with other tactics but a heavy level of control is really required for extended dominance in what is a very competitive league

The players are tired, unmotivated AND THAT is showing through performance on the pitch. We will continue to struggle if this does not change. I've heard prior to the season that this team was more interested in another CL more than anything. They had a CL trophy hanging in their training room apparently. Time will tell. I cannot fault this team. They have delivered A LOT in a relatively short period of time. The club did not do itself any favors my gutting our academy talent and not spending to pad our bench appropriately in the summer.

The last time we had more points on Matchday 11 was the season we won a quadruple... 6 years ago... I think we should stop overreacting. Every club goes through a crisis once or twice a season, we just forget about it eventually. Let's see how things go, let's see if Liverpool can actually keep this form up, which if they can - fair play, considering their lack of depth, low quality in midfield, lack of striker, new manager, first time playing so many games, etc. I think Liverpool will eventually fall off, and we'll soon be back to winning ways. If anyone can figure it out how to beat the "anti-city cheatsheet" that everyone seems to have, it's Pep. Even if we take a season off of winning to actually concentrate on fixing depth issues, fixing our playstyle, dealing with the bs charges, etc, it wouldn't hurt us. If winning nothing this season means a UCL next season, sign me up mate.
