this recipe is so easy, and so much healthier than the tortillas sitting on store shelves. Once I read all the scary ingredients in store bot tortillas, I quit buying them. Thanks to this simple recipe, I can eat tortillas again! Thanks Adrienna
I agree Donna, that was my inspiration to Clean Food Living (homemade tortillas) as well. Let me know how it goes making your own!
Homemade flour tortillas are so insanely easy to make and blow any store bought outta the atmosphere. Her corn ones here I’m gonna give a go FOR SURE, they looked nice and nothing like freshly made grub… cast iron skillyz work great for cooking up these types
So easy! And I had no idea these simple masa tortillas have so many health benefits too!
ManyThxs for this in depth demo! What made me subscribe to your channel is the excellent visuals, careful/thorough explanation of GMO vs NGMO masa and that you give references/referrals to where we can purchase a variety of different NGMO corn

What brand is this I've never seen organic corn mass thank you
They have gluten free ‘Maseca’ corn masa now. For tortillas, I suggest you get the package that also says ‘nixtamalizado’. Also, make sure you use warm (not hot) water. The consistency of the masa is supposed to feel like play-doh. Cover the masa with plastic and let it rest, on the counter, for at least 20 min. Good luck 😊
Hi,
Do you think it is possible, or is it healthy to make corn tortillas by grinding into a powder the dry corn kernel, then mixing it with water, flatten it and cook it on skillet or bake it in an oven?
Is it really mandatory to first cook the kernels in calcium hydroxide enriched water?
Thank you
Right, the difference btwn masa harina and corn flour. Doing the way you suggested would probably work, but the corn flour will be much more tender and soft, tearing more easily. So handle it gingerly to get it into fry pan.
This process is, unfortunately, necessary. It’s the only way to remove the outer shell of the kernel.
Can these be made with regular cornmeal? I really dislike the taste and smell of masa.
