finally one very unassuming european , zero bias , wants to see and learn .. a pure traveller ... well done chris , great video of a place that i call home and i come back to regularly to enjoy
Lived my early 23 years in Kolkata! Then 6 years in Mumbai! And now I am in Cambridge p, UK. Still, every time when foreign vloggers try to understand India, particularly my city, my heart fills with unlimited joy ❤ thank you so much.
That was a mind blowing experience seeing the video of Kolkata. So much variation you showed from the fantastic buildings and well kept gardens to back to reality and the hustle and bustle of every day life in India. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing everything and look forward to seeing your next holiday.
Those ambassadors used to be everywhere when I started going to India back in 94. Will be a shame to see them disappear but I imagine they are quite polluting. Love Calcutta. One of my favourite cities in India.
True indeed. Yeah it really was a surprise to me, I turned up not really knowing anything about it and just thinking about my onward travel but really enjoyed it. Sometimes it's nice just to go in blind and discover.
@@ChrisKermis Really like the video you made! There is so much more to see. I definitely need to go back. It can be a bit overwhelming at times, the amount of people. I went to the flower market early in the morning, and it wasn't as busy as it shows in your video, although it could just depend on the day perhaps.
You look like Anjan Dutt, he is a Bengali actor, director and rock musician. He acted in Mrinal Sen movie Chaalchitra (1981) and won best actor award at Venice Film Festival. I also love his songs like Bela Bose, Ranjana Ami Rashbona, Mary Ann. He has also directed movies like Dutta vs Dutta and Madlee Bengali. He is really talented and I was thrilled to see him in Haami 2
absolutely loved ur video, wish u would have visited salt lake sec v, newtown and rajarhat. these places are not only one of the most mordern and well planned places in india, but in whole asia.
The charm of this beautiful city is declining with every passing day. The city we had in ‘70s and ‘90s is not the same anymore, which is heart-rending. The old , sophisticated Bengali culture is declining and being replaced by something that doesn’t resonate with us. But if you still wish to have a taste of old Kolkata charm, you can visit North Kolkata. The streets, some of the century old buildings still hold testament to what was once a seat of culture.
Good video Sir gave me happiness. Carry on the good work for entertaining and informing us all more about the world. 😊 20:30 - Why do you think chaos is dangerous? Is chaos not just different people doing their own things?
@@GhyuRtyu well the difference is I live there so I can tell you, it isn’t dangerous in most parts, what you hear from the news is far away from the actual truth and reality!
You missed out on the newest part of Kolkata called the New Town with biggest urban park called the ECO Park, Biswa Bangla gate and Mother's wax museum, a totally different and chilled vibe. That area is also considered the first smart city area of India. 😊
I wish I had more time there as I said in the video. There was no way I could see everything but at least I had the chance to have a different, more local experience in a way.
@ChrisKermis If you ever decide a revisit to our beloved City of Joy, kindly contact me, I'll be happy to show you around and introduce you to the varied cuisine of my city. 🙏
@ChrisKermis next time when you come let me know. I would love to host you. If you need suggestions or any type of help then please contact me. I don't want money but I want you to have a very good experience in India.
Glad you enjoyed it! Nowhere is all bad or all good and I like to show what it’s really like. I’ve had wonderful times in India and have seen the good and the bad
@@ChrisKermis Yes you are right. I am not against the bad reviews. If taken gracefully, they actually teach us important lessons and where we as a country need to improve. However, a nicer review always feels good! 😉

The Dutch get their name for Turkey ( kalkoen ) from Kolkata ( whereas we get ours from, er, Turkey )
errr
Sounds legit
Uhh no, Kalkoen was what the Dutch called the city of Calicut ( present day Kozhikode in the state of Kerala)
Did you try the local food? Maybe check out a festival?
Absolutely! Aside from what I tried in this video I do love a good curry and I certainly had plenty of those
Watching this video was quite a pleasant relief after watching a few videos showing India as the dirtiest and worst place to live on Earth....
