This time i go with my R129 500 SL V8 Engine (M119.960) produced 1990 in Bremen from 0 - 250 Km/h with 326 PS/HP on german Autobahn and complete 177.000 km

I am a huge fan of the M119. I have a 1999 CL500, with the lower 315hp. Loves to run above 30mph, as this is a 4,600# vehicle; pulls hard and steady, up to and past 100mph. Has always run Mobil1 0w-40m oil, i.e. since new. With 165k miles, the chain stretch was recently checked with the correct pins and was about 0.5-1.0 degrees, which is nominally about new condition. So even with 165k miles, is in like new condition; so is the oil pressure at various temperatures and rpm's. 30 #'s at idle! I did own a yr 2000 RL129 with the M113 engine, which actually ran nicely as well; very quick when passing, as was a much lighter car. Sorry to say, had no room, so had to sell it (tears here).
What do you think about the M113 engine? Heard a lot of people saying it's a bulletproof unit and is also better to work on than the M119; less complex too, because 3 valves per cylinder vs 4, and single overhead cam versus double...
@@Roddy_Zeh The M113 was just a better engine in about every way. I drove hundreds of 129 cars with both engines and with the latter coupled to the replacement 5 speed, the replacement combo was much more responsive and easily as quick as the older M119 and 722.3 combo. One could argue the M113/M112 was the best gasoline engine MB ever made
I think something is broken on my SL. On the dashboard, all the needles on the gauges go clockwise except for the one on the far left. This goes counterclockwise. is this normal?

@@bicylindrico If I were to get a 90's/00's Merc, it would probably be an M113-powered one. Specially in something sportier like the CLS or CLK.

4 speed transmission? I heard that 5th is much faster?
The t5 speed transmission is not really faster but the gear ratios are closer to each other so the car is more quick it makes a huge difference
