Well it's got more info than this one. We were actually looking at it during a class. It seems to be a pretty good system for them but I think the doublestack system would be better in the long run. I understand it would be a huge financial gamble for them..But honestly they may be able to use a "roadrailer" system and knock out the car all together....Look it up they are amazing to see in action.
people want to say that Americans have an obesity problem. well looking at this video and some of the videos on youtube. the people are going to get fatter then the US ever could. just look at some of the videos. companies coming out with ideas on how to move cargo from one gauged rail line to a bigger or smaller gauged rail line without having to touch any of the cargo. companies coming out with trucks and trailers that do every thing for you. don't have to even leave the cab to connect, disconnect, raise and lower the landing gear, electrical and brake connections and etc..
I think you are spending too much money in the wrong place. Keep the truck trailer and the rail car simple and spent the money on a lift to attach it to the rail car. Like a crane at a terminal for loading.
This is designed for very low volume stops, where the capital cost of traditional intermodal infrastructure wouldn't make sense. It's an attempt to help make local rail freight more relevant again, sadly only Switzerland seems to care about that 😕.
This ain’t your typical Walmart trailers that would be using this system. This is for low volume high value semi-loads that needs to be transported XC in record time
Seems impractical.... An overhead crane is much more efficient and are designed to lift both box trailers and containers. Not only that, this appears to require a specialized trailer to use
The Megaswing can be loaded and unloaded most anywhere without the need for a gantry crane etc.All that is needed is a hard surface. In that respect Flexiwaggon is the only competition www.flexiwaggon.se/ Mogalohr needs special terminals.lohr.fr/lohr-railway-system/. That said, even when using a gantry crane weather is a problem
I feel with that level of complexity in the wagon it will be quite expensive. Good work nonetheless and can definitely work in certain cases.

You can't compare US solutions. Flat car with a trailer on top is too high for most european rail lines.

Would be good to record the time taken to load one container using the megaswing versus traditional methods.
I would guess the megaswing is slower, than a lot of other methodes. But you don't need the local infrastructure wich is a big plus.
In the video they forget to show he also have to disconnect power cable, at far end in right side of image.
