- On this edition of The Daily Score, Mark Grote shares his takeaways from recent press conferences with Bears offensive coordinator Shane Waldron, defensive coordinator Eric Washington and special teams coordinator Richard Hightower. Waldron discussed new quarterback Caleb Williams' adjustment from college to the NFL. Washington explained why he wouldn't characterize new defensive end Austin Booker as "raw," and Hightower discussed new receiver Rome Odunze being "in contention" for the punt returner job.

As a Bears fan there is a lot of hype and expectations for this young QB. It's going to take sometime for him to develop. I get he has a great team but let's slow down and allow the development to take place so we don't boo him out of town.
Poles got rid of Fields for an allegedly much better QB in CW.....so playoffs are the expectation for 2024
Excited to see what Waldron cooks up. He is going to have fun with our receivers.

You have 4-5 dudes on this current roster who contribute nothing at all that you can use to return kicks or punts . There is no way on earth that they have rome do it or dj or tyrique for that matter .
You have Dante who I believe led the ncaa when he graduated , Venus who runs 4.31 , scott , Ian wheeler who they signed for that purpose and reddy Stewart.
They won’t endanger Rome
The strength difference between a 21 year old long lanky athlete vs a 28 year old that outweighs him by 80 lbs is immense
Booker will have his hands full with Wright & Jones!!!!!

Waldron, didn't answer effectively... Williams, has been learning Bears scheme, w/ private QB coach, for months... with a defense, we will see how he progresses....

Also the reporter made up an unsubstantiated / generalized question about star rookies making the transition and accepting coaching.

Poles has never taken ownership for his mistakes. He did not handle Justin Fields & the coaching staff like someone who understands GM duties & responsibilities. No time to learn on the fly.
