Straight Path so True. Can’t believe they work under that kind of conditions. Sitting on the floor, they could atleast be provided comfortable footstool or pouffe to sit on.

@@aiyla21 are you nuts...that is how it is done. They have to spread the cloth on big frame and stich it by hand sitting on floor. More than one person works on single fabric while doing together.

The real thing is shaping a one of kind dress after years of training even u can do it... a hundred men on one dress then imagine buying those expensive fabrics and stones pretty sure they are paid enough...and the ones shown in the clip are workers from one room my family knows a tailor who used work under these ppl even ended up opening his own shop earned enough to feed the 2 entire generations

Manish Malhotra sells the dress for 5 lakh and gives less one tenth of it to the person who made it. this is really sad.

    - the worker who does embroidery may be scared, if they loose their job. So they keep quiet. But in fact, the workers in warehouse + designer + presenter( celebrity) all should be paid accordingly, as their skill and talent. But not only highly paid to the designer and presenter( celebrity). Lots of fashion shows also should present their workers from main factory, who did work on the outfit. So that, every one are treated equally. And lots and lots of people will know the power of every level of worker and respect them.

99% comments is that Real hardwork is of Labourer and not of Manish Malhotra. Even in the movie either Bolly or Holly why actor are becoming famous and not stunts man or workers who put their works in that ?
It's totally teamwork we can't guess how much actually he pays for his workers.

I am a designer and i know that the difference between a karigar and a designer is not their skill, its the integration of a garment, the technique of placements, the time management, the fusion of art, the focus on details. This is what makes a designer!!
The artists should b paid more. Atleast they should have been given health insurance and free education to their kids.
P.s. the designers should stop asking millions for a garment. For the sake of art!
And if they make a million dollar worthy garment they use that piece for educating other young designers or recycle that garment to make something useable or simply put it in the museum if the piece is a heritage charm.
I m from pakistan and i believe that india and Pakistan both have alot of talent. But one talent which our governments lack is, the talent of spending the way that it benefits poor.
And even though i am a designer, i hate when white ppl choose simplicity n minimalism for themselves yet make us fantasize Armani n Versace n hermes and what not!!
Hence developing the complex among our peopke

White people chose simplicity and make us fantasise about their brands? What are you talking about? They are selling products to people prefer that aesthetic. It is a choice.
Does Sabyasachi or Manish Malhotra every wear heavy sharwanis and tons of jewellery? But they design and sell such clothes for people who love them.

I never knew of this designer's existence until I watched movie called Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham. All actors wore good stuff. That movie gave him a recognition. He's really talented. Coming up with good designs are not that easy. People are complaining about his workers. Yes, workers should get paid better. They need good job packages. It should be a fair deal.

Most of the clothes are nice but this man manish is a joke. He probably draws a little bit and gets these little poor people to work for peanuts. They should be paid the most for all their work
Manish can't design well himself, see his early work. It was a joke lol only bollywppd people made him famous. I wish the workers would get paid well and branch out themselves. This is just making this guy rich and even more famous.
Plus everyone please realise, these designers steal the workers work as their own. Happens in french cotoure and in western brands. Their work is stolen but it's all legal and no recognition is given to them

Trust BBC to put a negative spin to any India related news. I wonder how they arrived at the average amount an artisan earns? Where are these statistics available? True there are people who earn peanuts but there are others who get paid really well and many have their own regular clientele as well.

All the comments about rich vs poor I understand where you’re coming from (especially the unreasonable gap between the 2) but think about it like this, if we lived in a society where success doesn’t get rewarded, how would anyone be motivated to achieve?? That being said, just because everyone works hard, doesn’t mean success is guaranteed, it’s partly based of luck and knowledge of the industry you’re working in. So stop complaining about how rich people are too rich, and start getting educated on how the process works.
