The #paramount buyout is the most insane arb I've seen that hasn't involved foreign companies since....well I think ever. In this video I update everyone on how things stand, how crazy Shari is, what the new bid is for #paramountglobal and how much #sony and #apollo will be paying us B shareholders.

Thank you for the update. Quite useful information. I recall the FTC suing AT&T when they bought Time Warner in 2018, to try to force AT&T to not buy Time Warner. I wonder if the FTC will do the same if Shari Redstone accepts the Sony-Apollo deal with some additional benefits for her A-Shares.
They got sued due to vertical integration. Para/sony might get blocked but the industry is a lot weaker now. Still a risk but not an insane one.
@@sleepysolI think the weaker Hollywood industry as a whole, might allow this deal to go through.
Disney used a similar argument (industry weaker; asset was purchased to complete with streaming giant and tech giant) when it bought 20th Century Fox.
If this is allowable, then the Sony buying Paramount should not be a problem, given that Sony's Pictures Division is a lot smaller than Disney is and the current Paramount is also smaller than the 20th Century Fox then. Of course, FTC might still sue to block regardless of previous ruling since it is run under different administration.
@@JasonTan-9757 I agree, but here's the counter point, what if Sony doesn't want the crap and APO isn't taking enough of the garbage? Sony likes where it is right now. So they might say no just because they're doing fine and they don't want to buy a distressed asset.
