My tip for the shower is to move your soap out of the way of flow of water. As it sits there on the holder the water will continue to hit it therefore causing it sit in the water when the shower is not in use. I have mine placed on the same wall as the shower head but higher up on the wall along with a soap saver underneath. Works great.

Just incase you didn't know, the clear plastic liner can be washed out in the washer with the curtain, then put back on to drip dry in the shower.
The bar soap issue and all soap residue, can easily be removed with dish soap❣️ My family is mostly soap bar users.

Hi Catherine, I also hated that happening with the bar soap on a dish or even on the shower tower. I found some things called soap savers on Amazon. They work great but they may not fit on the soap dish. You may need to put it on a shelf of your shower tower. They are pads that you put the soap on and the drainage stays on them. Just rinse them and you may need to rub the excess soap off a little bit with your hands. But they really contain the excess soap!

I have struggled applying caulk. One tip is before you apply new caulk, put a layer of painters tape above and below the caulk line. Once you apply caulk, smooth with your tool, then pull the tape off for a clean edge.

i love this “real” video not everyone will do this bit you did and thank you… gives us “motivation” and encouragement to do the tasks that deadly and tiresome to even think of doing… so thank you for the everything, honestly ….sometimes it takes us to see it done before we tackle the deadly job we do not want to do… So thank you and your videos bring me personally so much peace and comfort… thank you 🙏🏼

Yes, clean dryer vents. In addition to using my brush that fits down into the lint trap in the dryer, I hire a company every year to do the vent leading outside. I’m so afraid of fire!

I love that you said don't even tell me if I did it wrong. I can so relate! So many UA-camrs mention breaking cameras during filming. That stinks. Glad your dryer is better.

Catherine,, another option for a bar of soap. Wal-Mart has what looks like a sponge but they are hard. They're very inexpensive and you can rinse them with warm water. No more soap gunk 😊.

I cleaned out my dryer vent a few months ago. Was not bad at all however we don't have basements here so the vent going outside is short and goes straight out vs having to travel up then out but def important to clean them for sure! Also I wish my bank account refilled as fast as my laundry basket🤣🤣 also another laundry funny I saw "based on the amount of laundry I do every week im gonna have to assume there are people living here I haven't met yet."🤣
    Thanks for the motivation!

Put the soap where the water doesn’t hit it. That will help a lot. We got a little soap dish that was made out of wood and we put it on the back corner where the shower curtain ends. Then it can dry off properly between showers and doesn’t just disintegrate from the water hitting it :) ❤

Catherine, Powerful message about the dryer vents in our homes! Had mine done this past fall and was amazed at what was lining the vents!! Thank you!!
A thought on laundry folding… as someone who hates turning clothes right side out when folding laundry, I have started turning the clothes right side out when taking them off. Then as I fold my load of laundry it goes much faster as I don’t have to slow down to turn clothes right side out at that time!! Just a thought! Love your videos and content!! Big fan in Colorado♥️

Great video. Nice job on the caulking! So glad you got the dry vent cleaned and fixed. A small time saving suggestion for laundry, if you turn everything right side out when clothes are removed and put in dirty cloths bin each time you wouldn’t have to spend so much time turning the entire load right side out at one time😊Love your content and always look forward to the next video.

Hi Catherine. Next time you caulk try putting down painters tape to keep your line clean. It helps a ton. Also a razor scrapper for the thinned out stubborn caulk. I think if you use silicone based caulk there’s also a solvent you can use to soften the old caulk. I can’t remember the name though.

    • @CatherineElaine
      @CatherineElaine  11 місяців тому

I would've cleaned the entire tub/shower before removing the caulking, and then cleaned where the caulking was without using water, just a damp cloth to remove any cleanser. It's there to keep water from running down the walls behind/under the tub and you were there spraying all the walls with water. Hopefully not much got down there. So a tip for next time, I guess!

Funny that you’re redoing the caulking in your shower because I just did ours as well. I found a video on UA-cam that made it so easy. I just used my finger and some soapy water to smooth out the caulking. It looked so even and amazing! It’s wild what a difference it can make to your whole shower/tub area

I was someone who didn’t know this! I lived in apartments that had a laundry mat before buying our first home. Unfortunately, not everyone has parents to teach them these things so we had to learn it all on our own and be proactive. Our dryer had an error number pop up and when I read the manual it said to clean the dryer vents. I learned how to do it from a UA-cam video. Thankfully we’d only just bought our house but yea just a reminder not to judge people for not knowing everything. There’s a lot to know in life, and we all grow up in different environments 😊
