God does speak-now one way, now another....But in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, Jesus Christ through His Holy Spirit (Job 33:14, Hebrews 1:2 & John 16:13)
Learning the voice of the Shepherd is not a one day exercise but a progressive one.
Speaking further about His Shepherding role, Jesus revealed expressly that "My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27)
