Love it. No product is perfect for everyone, but for someone, this is one small step for man and one giant leap for mankind. Excited to see some innovation here.
cool message
it´s crazy thinking that this thing had come out in 2023... WoW That´s a huge improvement for boom operators! That´s super cool, i can´t believe that nobody had thinked this before
I wonder how much noise it will produce by rubbing the pole over that support.
Can you use it without a sound bag?
Incredible piece of kit!
"under $700" seems steep until you have to swing a boom for long days, back to back.
Awesome & Thanks :)
where is the full zombie rig ?
Dang smart!!
I liked the initial design more, with the overhead configuration. When is it coming to the market?
What... the fuck.
An interesting idea and support to help boom ops is paramount to their health, but this doesn't seem to be a great replacement. You're lacking fine control and the vertical axis is non existant.
Proper exercise, stretching, and muscle training can help make sure you're always at your best without breaking your back, arms, and shoulders.
The mast (left hand) that connects to the fulcrum point on the boom is telescoping. So you can go up and down, not easily during a take, but generally during takes you've picked out a vertical height and stick with it (most of the time).
@Julio Alvarez I find myself constantly changing vertical height if a take has any sort of movement in it. Especially if people go from sitting to standing or the inverse. I'm always riding the top of frame as close as I can.
@@TheDingusBoy I would argue one can raise the height of the boom faster using the Tilta product than simply using your arms. See: Laws of Physics. Also: Fulcrum and Inertia. As for the "lack" of fine control, how do you know there isn't a damping setting on the handle to dial in resistance. I highly doubt it's "spin like a pinwheel" or nothing.
@Alexis Kobalt the video doesn't demonstrate any possible resistance changes, so I'm only judging based on what's there. If they do have resistance adjustments, then cool, but I still have more fine control when using my arms than just shifting my whole body back and forth.
Also, when I say vertical axis, I mean going straight up and down. Tilting up and down on a fulcrum like this device changes the angle of the mic in addition to raising it up. If I use my arms to go up and down, I can keep the exact same horizontal plane of the boom pole.
@@TheDingusBoy Yes, someone using the Tilta product will need to create some fresh muscle memory to keep the mic on axis during a lift. I would say the trade-off is worth it.
