      @@tinti7 Chuck was a very clean player actually. He played tough, but he rarely played dirty. His worst antics was spitting on a fan. Yes he punched Laimbeer. But pro tip: half the league punched Laimbeer at some point or another. And he and Ewing got in a scuff, which was entirely instigated by Ewing and Barkley only defended himself and didn't "go after" Ewing at all. Ewing body checked him like he was wearing hockey skates (illegal screen), Chuck tossed him out of the way so he could play defense - which is what you do when you get hit by an illegal screen that doesn't get called - and then Ewing was butthurt and had to man-up to make up for just getting rag-dolled by someone 5 inches smaller. And so Chuck rag-dolled him again. No punches, no assaults. Just a good hard shove. And that's pretty much it for actual scuffs or questionable on-court antics for Chuck.

    • @tinti7
      @tinti7 5 місяців тому

      He repeatedly said in this conversation that he never did those things, which led me to believe he sounds like he forgot about his rep or just wanted to make a point that Dray has been stepping over the line with his actions like he has done once. Shaq came from an era where this wasn’t even an ejectable offense, much less a suspension. Shaq is not “wrong” but Draymond SHOULD adapt to this softer NBA if he cares about the team. Draymond’s behavior has arguably cost the team multiple rings at this point.

    • @buddah15
      @buddah15 5 місяців тому +1

      Its equally easy to believe that draymond cost the franchise championships with this style of play as much as he contributed to the ones we got with the same style of play. I doubt he’d have the same defensive impact if he dint play with a sense of urgency thats tightroping that line of max instinct and too much

  • @spencerhanley2949
    @spencerhanley2949 5 місяців тому +233

    Shaq has totally missed the point. Draymond was not suspended for his off court behavior. It was for his behavior on the court. Therefore, due to his consistency of reckless on-court behavior, the league took a decision to suspend him with a view of getting him necessary coundeling.

      Everyone is missing what Shaq is so upset about; it's the implication that there is a mental health problem. If that was the case half the players in the 90's would be considered mentally ill. There's no excuse for choking another player but Shaq's point was that the chocking was part of an altercation while defending a teammate and not done while making a play. Still the game is different now and I agree with Kenny about the behavior hurting the team. Then there's Charles acting like he's never gone too far because choking and punching is what he considers an a$$ault when I consider his spitting on someone was an a$$ault too. He never did that again but he shouldn't pretend he never went too far himself.

      What is "clearly wrong" is his inability to play the enforcer role in a more effective way. To play dirty is part of the game, anything goes to win, hell, even KAJ trowed sneaky elbows at the ribs of his opponents. Artest had his ups and downs, was able to disguise it (the right way to play), but sometimes he was too blatant. This narrative that Draymond is mentally challenged, he has anger issues, etc.. in the information era, if he is really sick, accusations of domestic violence and similar antics would surface already. But thus far, the guy is clean, no accusations as far as I know. So the current narrative is how Draymond is a menace, he is the new Rodman, blablablabla, but in fact, it's just the NBA media trying to hook people. I'll say this , many of these comments seems to be from people that's never played basketball or anyother sport . They've definitely never played against black kids in black neighbourhoods ! I'm 69 years old now , I started playing the game on the asphalt courts of inner city Atlanta , then at an all black high school in the inner-cities at the age of 12 . I was 5ft 7 inches weighed maybe 135 lbs. In order to play you had to either pick a team or be picked to play . And you played against former high school and college players , street dudes , hustlers grown drop outs and they were big tough and showed no mercy . And I was the only kid that they couldn't intimidate or make quit . By the time I was 16 . I was the guy nobody wanted to play against . And during those days every college wanted that type of player . The tough guys , big strong and intimidating. At my age I've watched the game evolve all the way from the playgrounds to the pros .in the 60s , I believe that it was a white coach at Western michigan that went to the inner-cities and recruited black player and they beat adolph Rupp and kentuky for a national championship. College basketball has never been the same since . Next the NBA was dying and on its death bed , in comes the black players and the rest is history ! Within a few years white boys were barely making teams . No 1 they couldn't compete and white ticket buyers finally had something to cheer about . I could go on ! But what's happening to the league today is embarrassing . I mean the plan to make the league atleast 90 percent European is a joke . Soon the only black players in the NBA will be from France or Africa. This is why young black american players are being gradually run out of the league. By hook or crook ! Not so long ago players like Draymond Green were celebrated . The fans went to games to see the shaqs , Berkley, masons okleys , rodmans mahorns malones and Lambeirs etc , etc to beat up on each other. They were allowed to do whatever they wanted never seeing suspensions more than one game . The game was so physical that white boys started running away from the playing the game same as football. They got into sports management , representing black athletes , robbing and stealing them blind . So this attempt to create a European NBA will never last . And it'll need blacks to save it again . Well maybe not because when you look at the ignorance and stupidity of whites today ( the magas ) hell they'll go to watch 10 man made robots play !

      Lol. I understand what Shaq was saying, but I think Kenny's take on it was better. There's no issues with him off the court like Ja and Chuck. So its not a 24/7 anger issue. Just his passion for the game when he's playing. So that needs to be dealt with on the coaching side and if Steph is the leader of the Team he needs to be talkin to him too. Like dude you keep getting suspended is not helping us. Keep the aggressiveness, but stop kicking and stomping people in the nuts.

    Dray does need a sports phycologist, or at the least some mentorship, he needs to step back from his image, or his image of himself. With all of the competition damaging ejections and suspensions, he obviously needs help with that. There’s things that happened in our lives that we aren’t aware of and shaq is making it seem like it’s the end of the world seeking someone’s opinion on things that might be hidden. Just because you’re rich and sitting in front of millions doesn’t mean you can’t be better than you are today mentally. That shows shaq is flawed because what draymond is doing has nothing to do with basketball. What shaq did in the 90s had everything to do with him having a championship spirit and getting clocked a million times because no one could stop him. Can’t believe dude said that

The guy earned 100 million by being a role player in a system, he most likely consider himself a "star", it doesn't help how the team not only overpay, but also protect Draymond. So really, the Warriors are to blame, they fomented his antics. No one pampered Rodman and Artest back in the day, they kept playing because their talent was legit. To play the enforcer role in the current soft era is really tough, any minimal contact will be called a technical foul... and Draymond don't even try to disguise it, he plays dirty right in front of the refs, it's just stupid

      Hell, Jordan punched Kerr in practice, most likely he punched others as well, got into fights, etc people forget the NBA remains a competitive environment, even with the player being pampered, the defective rules, etc.. this soft era is pathetic, but these guys are still competing. Remember when KAT and Embiid were throwing real punches at each other? The problem with Draymond is how he is losing awareness about his dirty plays, at first he did it in a disguised way (which is how a enforcer should play the role), but with time he is getting more blatant about it. To play dirty is not a sin, anything goes to win... however, if the enforcer can only commit fouls instead of drawing retaliation, he becomes a dead weight
