I think, movie has more Gurren Lagann spirit, then anime. In the anime it was like Simon beat antispiral alone, imho. Gurren Lagann is about unity. And here Dai-Gurren Dan, when one big mech was defeated, split up on many different mechs and then they united in one strongest mech.
