Tim Goodin delivers a powerful performance of his original country music song, "Pills and Poverty," shedding light on the harsh realities of opioid abuse and poverty in Appalachia.
From the hills of east tn. Went back to bury my brother last Christmas. These words ring so true as we drove through those hollers & hills we used to fill w laughter. Now nothin but run down shacks w lost souls looking out from broken porches. All the elders long gone, drugs moved in, families just left broken, drifting in a fog of poverty and drugged out haze. Some of my own as well. Once proud families who tilled the land now gone or livin in shacks now. No hope or happiness left there. 😢
The sad thing is they'll never get rid of the drugs...it's impossible... we have to show the addicts there's a better way in Jesus Christ...he's the only hope and refuge they need
Seeing what's happened to my home, my friends and family is heartbreaking. But like a failed relationship, it sure has produced some exceptional music.
1st time I've been home since the afghan withdrawal. From their to Ukraine to Isreal. Havent cried like this since coming home from falusia. Yes I know the spelling is wrong and everything else. Just neede to put this down and say thank you.
Sure a lot of truth to this song here in Appalachia

Most of East KY is the same way. It's terrible now. Knowing what it used to be.

First time hearing you. This song hits different when you're living the words. My small town is being held in a death grip by both pills and poverty
