I literally bought one of these last Saturday at the DC Pen Show - got it from Truphae and got the Smoke version with the Falcon Nib - LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!
That's right. Custom = torpedo-shaped (74, 742, 743, 823, only exceptions are the 845 Urushi and the Enjyu), Custom Heritage is flat-ended (91, 92, 912, SE)
Just got an 823 in medium. Was hoping you could have chatted a little more on that. With that said, a chill video that convinced me to never let go of my 823! Much love from Japan~
I recommend this pen 👍. At first, I was disappointed when I got mine, but after I checked all was in alignment with the nib, I ran a few tuning-figure-8’s on a clean brown paper bag - now we are best friends 🤟- I miss the Tsukushi brown I started with- now I use tsuki-yo in it as well.
[cleaning] it depends whether you prefer (or be purist on this 🤫) fast cleaning or no one droplet at all. The side compared TWSBI 580 with unscrewed section wins by all means if the second case when you screwed the knob and stuck some tissue to remove the last drops
I have not found a better writer than the Custom 823. I've tried many others and to be honest when I spend my hard earned money, I will generally give it all to Pilot because I trust that I will love it no matter what. The Vanishing Points are my next favorite as a workhorse pen and I have plenty and one on the way....LOL. No judging...lol.
I don't have the 823, but I have a brown and a smoke grey Wing Sung 699. Both have medium nibs. $30 a piece if I remember correctly. Out of this word in every way out of the box. Not a single problem.
Have & am very pleased with both. Just a caution that the Lamy M is very wet and has a line more like a Western broad, so if using for journaling and depending on your writing style, a step down to a F will be about the same as a Pilot M. Happy shopping!

I believe the "Heritage" designation is reserved for the line of flat end pens only.

@@AeroDr thank you for confirming that for me.
I love the sound effects
Pilot reminds us not to remove the nib if you want to keep the warranty in place. as always, it is your pen so do what you wish!

Hi, I like the x-years later reviews. The 823 ist great, I should use mine more often
Good timing! So glad I made the jump in getting this one as my grail pen. You kinda put a seal of approval on my choice!
I love this pen so much. I am getting a clear in fine today, as a matter of fact!
I recommend this pen 👍.

This video was the push I needed to get this pen at the SF pen show! Thank you so much! I got the Amber in a Fine
Pilot 823 in smokey black looks gorgeous
Ive been eyeing this pen for about as long as you’ve owned it 😊 think I want to try a pilot sf nib before springing for a M 823
100% on my must get list.
Am I alone in liking to clean vacuum fillers over piston fillers? Lol

Have you review the Endless paper you're writing on?
Have you ever experienced any problems with using the 823, or something that needs to be repaired.
I really can’t decide between this Pilot (M) and a Lamy 2000 (still M) for journaling on good paper…
Please help! 😅

it's not custom heritage, just custom.
