That 'white' is singing in your language because she is a composer of Indian classical music. She composed the score for Tanika Gupta's theatrical adaptation of Charles Dickens' 'Great Expectations', receiving critical acclaim. She has performed with Nitin Swahney in venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, The Royal Opera House and Sadlers Wells. If you understood the function of music you would know that its a celebration of humanity, a creative inclusive process and expression.

Although frankly, you have a point re the celebration of the world - which is why 'OUR English' should still be a living language and take everything into its flowing river; phone-glish prolly even more so. I note they all still speak English in Star Trek 'the Very Far Future' episodes. Even Harry Kim speaks English. Goddammit even that Borg '7 of goddamn 9' speaks it!

I don't get many pivotal moments listening to music any more because there is so much copycat audio fast food about, but this performance was an eye-opener. It's absolutely phenomenal - how come it took 7 years for me to discover it?

Beautiful! I discovered this song years ago, and it was on repeat for a month, and after a month, I was at the Exit music festival in Serbia. Nitin Sawney was lined up to start with this song, at sunset. It was a perfect experience, old fortress, summer evening, great mood, beautiful people, heavenly music...I was so lucky to be there! This studio performance is just as amazing in its simplicity and beauty.
