I've had a 23oz California Framer as my daily for 6 months now. Love it. Best hammer I've ever used. Wood handle is definitely the way to go, in my opinion.
This is what me and my dad both swear by. Cheap and functional, your not afraid to swing it at some bad stuff (like a steleto), and when they do wear out they are right in the sweet spot of under 50$ (Cheap again). The wood handled low strike vibration has enabled my dad who is 58 to still be swinging as hard as ever, even after 43 years of framing.
I bought my first wooden hammer back in 2001 after starting to develop elbow/arm pain. 20oz vaughan 999L. My next vaughan was the 19oz blue max, absolutely love that one. Rehandled it to a straight now because that's what I could find. I recently bought a 16 oz smooth cal framer for more polished work. I've tried titanium but I always end up going back to a wood handle, there's just something about a scarred up old wooden handle vaughan
I have 23 oz milled and smooth but no nail starter. The smooth face has the straight handle as that was all I could get in the uk. I went onto these after swinging another well known American brand for the past 20 years+ and my elbow is painful when nailing all day. After day one with the Vaughn no more elbow pain.
When I first started framing 18 years ago I started with the 19oz Vaughan California framer, but I now mostly use the 32oz Vaughan, and sometimes I use my 28oz Vaughan Rig Builder Hatchet. I still have a 19oz, and 23oz Vaughan framer, but they're for backup. Anyway I've tried other brands like Dead On, Estwing, Stanley etc. but I personally prefer Vaughan... each to their own I guess.
Great hammer for its price ! I have a stilletto tibone tb3 and I still use my Vaughn occasionally when I’m doing rougher work . Because I hate taking my stilleto when working on foundations haha but the Vaughns hold up very very well for being wooden handles
Well I was never a fan of Stiletto titanium hammers they are outsourced and not made domestically in The United States 🇺🇲. I'd rather get and utilize Vaughan California framer, Estwing Hammers, Hardcore Hammer Co. And the new Boss Hammer Co. They are all made in America 🇺🇲 the build quality is exceptional with American Pride. Especially the Vaughan I have the 19oz smooth face curved handle, I got 23oz Milled/Waffle face Curved handle, and! My old Vaughan 27oz Milled/Waffle face steel head curved handle framing hammer which is one of my favorite framing hammer that hammer is the most Largest and the most heaviest California Framer hammer ever forged by Vaughan Tools but they discontinued it and kept the 28oz Rig Builder's Axe instead. I also have a Estwing 25oz California framer style but all steel construction framing hammer. BTW Martinez M1 titanium hammer is far better than Stiletto Ti Bone, Martinez M1 is 100% Made in America 🇺🇲 with pride but that hammer is too expensive, even though I make a lot of money as a Framer Certified Carpenter But I ain't gonna spend $300 on a hammer itself. I mean $300 is worth brand new Dewalt Framing Nailer or perhaps a Hitachi or a Senco framing nailer. Or perhaps I could have gotten myself a Brand New Skil saw Worm drive saw or a brand new Miter saw worth $300. I'm not gonna spend that much for only a hammer.
I have the original 19 Oz California framer the one without the nail starter and I wouldn't have it any other way if you know what you're doing you don't need the magnetic nail starter
I owe the 19 oz California framer and I don’t know y but Im thinking about buying a 16 oz Version and cutting the handle off and putting on a 18 inch handle on it or maybe u guys can do it so I don’t have to either way it’s sounds like a really good idea
Lance Keiser I have (and like) both, for different applications. If I’m working with wood and driving nails all day its the Vaughan, if I’m working around concrete, rebar, or doing demo work, I use my 22oz Estwing. Rebar will destroy wood handles unfortunately.
I was inspired by Scotto Brown so bought it! his 20000yen titanium one is cool, but I couldn't buy.... WELL BUT I'm tradisional guy tradisional guy So, California Framer!
Been using this hammer for six months now and it's the most comfortable hammer I've ever used! You can swing it all day and never grow tired!

Vinnie Gee yup 100% there’s a reason why all the old fellas never had issues with their elbows. Not until steel handles came out.

Pretty sweet but nothing beats the 999L
LOVE it, can't wait to try it out!
I found my grandfather had the same model. Seriously, it looks almost exactly the same, except for the rust pits and worn handle!
I didn’t know you did this kind of work, I thought you got the Iron Warriors to do all of that!

Had mine for 18 years now
Do anything to find 19 oz. blue max smooth face framer. The profile slims more on the handle, towards the bottom, is much more desirable.

great video

I have that 🔨 one got it at menards here in Chicago absolutely ❤it 😎
same here. the handle is what sold me. saving my elbows.
Straight handle is my choice
20 year member of the Carpenter Union. Axe handle is not my preference . I’ll swing a straight handle any day. .
What’s the difference between this one and the blue max California framing hammer?
This is a really comfterble hammer but ive never tryed a stihleto
Kann dere lage en hammer av en stritsvogn panserstål helstøpt kanse det holder?
Just picked one up. Honestly. Prefer it over my 22 oz estwing framing hammer.

I had a cheap hammer when i baught this one felt the difference
I was inspired by Scotto Brown so bought it! his 20000yen titanium one is cool, but I couldn't buy.... WELL BUT I'm tradisional guy tradisional guy So, California Framer!
I have the 16oz framer. Hammerimg all day, no stress. My hammer runs like a scalded dog.
I've been looking so hard to find the 19 oz blue wooden straight handle hammer from Vaughan I can't find it I need help ....!!!!!!!!!!
Out of catalog. Not very popular.
Amazon
I got one from Home Depot.
It's odd that a new handle is the exact same price or higher than the whole hammer it self.
Gotta get the 19, the 23 is too much unless you’re a huge person
The 16 is a dream, TRUST
@@prophesytheorist5130 yes the cf4p is really sweet, I have two of them. Gonna get the 19 at menards for some demo.
Make a 16oz steel head 16 inch fiberglass handle straight claw hammer .... it'd be better then a stilleto and save elbows everywhere
how much is it ?/ i. need one
Oscar pura verdad Hernandez aplomo About $25 on Amazon
Pretty much the same at the homeless death spot too..
Dude, you don't pull nails out like that, with a wooden shafted straight claw.....
Upgrade ur saw horse game bro
19 oz? Hit it with your purse.
