We are new to Xfinity TV/Internet and so far the TV isn't too bad. I still prefer the DISH remote and interface better. The Xfinity remote is hard to use but I do like the previous remote they have with bigger buttons. They should have made the arrows on the new remote bigger and soft touch. Sadly, we are on the 800 Mbps plan but we can't get over 200 Mbps. We are having a 3rd technician come out which doesn't make sense.
Keep on them, heck I would even talk to customer service and see if they can give you a little credit on your account to make up for not getting the full speed.
Its codded from comcast for an account, not like a hacked direct tv box. Perhaps I don't understand but yes you have to play for xfinilty services to receive services unless a hacked box.
I'm taking my old box in on Monday which didn't need to have a cable connected to the out source which is connected to my lg smart tv. So I would assume the new xfinity voice remote box can be connected the same way with the TV in cable only.
The box I just received has little holea all over the top it is scratched up on the bottom the remote is the same size as the previous remote I had which is like the one you showed in the video but a little bigger
One last thing…this can also be a way to force ppl to buy 4k or 8k so Comcast can charge you more for going over the data usage cap. It’s all about money & greed.

Or will Xfinity have the 3rd party purchased Xfinity X1 box locked out? Is there a way to get away from another set top box rental fee?

I've paid for Xfinity internet for the past five years, I pay for 100mbps and it's never above 30mbps unless I call and complain, then it's around 100mbps for a day or 2, and back to 30. I've called about this no less than a dozen times over the past 2 years... and the last two times they scheduled a technician to come out where I had to be home for a 2-3 hour window, and both times the technician didn't show up, didn't call, didn't care. Comcast is the most awful atrocity of customer service on the planet.
You need to read how cable Internet works. You'll rarely get full speed. Unlike fiber which is a 1 to 1 connection and light speed, cable you share the main trunk line with your neighborhood. So it all depends on time of day, how many are using what, and even the weather. Fiber is buried
Can’t find a video to setup new main X1 version box so I’m commenting here. I’ve just set mine up. The purpose of updating the X1 box was hoping the classic movies would go back to full screen that we’d watch on TCM. Didn’t change a thing and also noticed the Sony Bravia HD bought in 2014 (not 4k or 8kbut regular HD) doesn’t come in nearly as clear as the previous original X1box that we’ve had since X1 came out at about 2015. So, when my husband gets home we’ll see if that’s going to decide whether we put back the old box or not and return the so called NEW version. Not everything ~new~ is all that special & probably worse in our case.
Ive had this box for 2 years! In my opinion the box looks kinda ugly before when I had Verizon FiOS the set top box showed time which was very convenient.
I returned the newer box in this video and keeping my older one. I was expecting a new flashy UI or something new. This one is lacking, feels cheaper really.
