I sign for painting course for adult and seniors. I am surprise that teachers there do not show us your method of painting only correct our mistakes verbaly.
The best regards from Poland. Thank you for excellent lessons.
Excellent tutorial. Makes perfect sense, simplified the process such that progress will easily recognizable for the beginner…me and the experienced painter. Thank you.
This is so helpful! You are so clear and your examples are eye-opening ❤ Thank you !
Very focused and effective practice - truly inspiring - 🎶♥️🎵
Thanks so much for this excellent video with great detailed information. Each video has great educational content which also brings so much inspiration. I wish you all the best and more for 2024. You will receive ten times more in return for everything you give us with each video. Blessings and take care.
Paint Coach. You have changed my life!
All your videos are very helpful, clearly explained, and make so much sense. This video was especially helpful to me as I suffer from what I call "detail-itiss."Thank you!
You are right😍
Detail or no detail (or just some detail) that is the question we can only answer for ourselves. it underscores the blocking in of large shapes you speak of and from there it's just how much detail and realism a person wants to get to. I haven't done any abstract art but I would imagine the large shapes at first and moving toward the smaller shapes would be similar there. Correct me if I'm wrong and thanks for the great advice.
Who was here early enough to see the initial video that didn't have the painting example? I knew exactly what he was talking about in that initial video. However, not having his signature painting inserts and examples in the video? I was wondering why this was in my feed again and I clicked it because I wanted to see if he ever replied to someone who brought up the problem. Once I didn't see the comment and let the video roll, I knew this was the corrected version.
This is weird cause the same thing happened to Tyler Edlin just a couple days ago. Can be a coincidence
I commented a “missing b roll” on the older video 😂
Your videos are a gem.
Its great! The most enjoyable method to painting.
Appreciate everything you share ✨️
I agree with you
I’ve learned so much from you. I’m so greatfull 🎉
You are so welcome
Thank you
Everything would be better if more people were like you!💪👏👏
I just love your content. Its really helpful. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
Thank you for the simplicity of this. Very helpful.
Thank you. Very helpful!
Sage advice! Thanks!
Handsome painting ❤😊!
Great Learning !!!
Hello, great tips
Fantastic presentation ❤️🤓
I may be wrong here but you probably don’t want to teach this method for a beach scene of just the ocean and a pier right? That’s what I want my first painting to be. I’ve been an acrylic painter since I was 7 years old and finally getting to oils at 42 lol
Very friendly and warm video, as always!!
Glad you like them!
Hi Chris, Thank you so much for sharing your experience! Great work!
Glad it was helpful!
Your videos helped me a lot. In short time you give essential information and deep insights. Thank you.
I am a total beginner and struggle a lot with material, witch canvas to use, how to prepare underground and so on. But most important how to overpaint used canva? Do I to scratch the paint with Terpentin? Can I just paint over? Or it us better to overpaint with gesso without scratching old paint? If you could make a video about that, it would be grate. Thank you
Good stuff.
This is really really valuable advice. Thank you so much!
Glad it was helpful!
Thank You ❤❤😊
Once again, thank you sir.
Welcome!
happy new year thank you this
Happy new year!
Very helpful ❤
Bro I had know idea your from Richmond I am too!!
The 'big shapes first' concept is not new, but you've broken it down a really clear and expressive way; comments and comparisons at about 6:30 especially good. Many thumbs up
Thanks!
This is helpful
Wow….does your explanation help me. I am floundering but lightbulb moments happen when I watch your videos.
Any tips on how to seal a finished painting? I’ve heard mixed feelings about varnish. 😕
Also, how to package up a commissioned painting?
Hi Chris. What’s is the tin please that you’re mixing with your paint? Thanks so much for the awesome video. Have a wonderful day painting 👍🎨🖌️
'Da Fonz' does it again
Greetings from Berlin
Hi Chris, I just have another question when you’re demonstrating how you’re doing your landscape painting at 7.12 in the video, it looks like you’re using something to put the white in. Is it pastel? Could you please tell me what you’re using there? Thanks Chris
"Choosing the subjects easy part" Um that part can be rather hard!
I've noticed you often flick your brush at the end (or just after) a brush stroke. Is that part of the stroke or forcing paint to the end of the brush? Or just a thing you do for who knows?
Thanks for all the great advice!
❤❤❤I love u
Could you do a video on the whole fat over lean thing with oil paint? I feel like there are so many things to oil painting that are hard to teach myself and I’m worried I’m just making paintings that’ll fall apart in 20 years.
Check his old videos. He already talks about this in detail. Might be a starting out on oil painting video.
@@mfaos thanks! just found this channel so haven’t obsessively watched the whole backlog yet like usual
When you mass in or block in the big simple shapes. Do you let it dry before adding in all the finer details or do you work it wet into wet?
Thanks for your advice. What I don't get is, will you let the painting dry after each step?
No, I never wait for the paint to dry. This painting was done in an hour.
Maybe starting g to C shapes big ones 1st? In an abstract situation, then what? Ann, Florida fan
You rag out the highlights when sketching, so do you run a layer of super thinned down paint then sketch or how do you do that so you can rag it out?
Hi, Where do I find the list of things mentioned to purchase to get started? I checked out shop but it went nowhere! Thank you!!!
Do you have to have a specific art style when selling your art? I like doing landscapes and detailed stuff but I also wanna try abstract colorful art. I heard other people say you have to stick to one thing so you can be known for that thing.
Do you let the thinned out sketch to completely touch dry or just until a little comes off on your fingers?
I sketch it in with just paint and paint thinner so it sets up very fast. I don't have to wait at all.
@@paintcoach oh, I was wondering because I didn't know if I should wait for the sketch to dry since in older videos you said since it's thinned down it doesn't take long to dry
What medium do you use to cover the white canvas? What do you use as a medium to up the paint from a tube.. mine is too gooey and not moving enough ends up using too much paint.
I just use paint and paint thinner and wipe it with a paper towel. Burnt Sienna and ultramarine blue
Thank you so much❤ I will explore the thinners😊
There are so many options for the mediums in an art store. I wish there are more videos about how to use them.
remembering the burnt sienna and ultramarine gradation painting practice in college days ! Thank you! ❤
Excellent video, great information
