My 1888-manufactured machine looks like that, with more wear and a simpler bobbing winder. Still works great.

Tell me you are not addicted to treadleing , lol i never wanted a treadle or hand crank when i started collecting then i got a 1895 hand crank 28 for 25 bucks fell in love as soon as i ran my first stitch , also got a treadle just for the machine that was on it , tried that and yep sucked in again ..something about manual power machines just feels good .........

More treadles, more! How can you put on a hand crank for that age machine?
you can't put a hand crank on these, there's no mounting boss
Now my ignorance really shows. . . What is a mounting boss, or more accurately, what does it look like?
the boss is a place where motors and hand cranks mount. its located below the balance wheel. Singer did not have these until about 1910. Google "singer 66 motor mount" to see what it looks like.
