The original is more serious and less comic book-ish but I prefer the TV series version. I'm too old to be scared so I might as well go with the more fun version but if you're going for straight horror then yeah, the original is better.
i c many folks missed the description of 80s films . Christmas evil i believe had a 2nd title i want to say " better watch out " ? there was just something about the mood of that film perhaps dark gloomy and seedy ?

The original Tales from the Crypt film's 'And All Through the House' was a better one then the remake.
