    Most helpful, thank you. We have a Floodlight Cam that died on us. Ring sent us a Wired Plus replacement. They don't make the Floodlight Cams anymore. I haven't got the replacement installed yet because I was not able to get the wing nuts off the original installation - they were not the screw-on type, but rather a rigid plastic crimp-on assembly. Probably a better choice for a wet climate. Per another video, I will probably have to cut them off. That aside, the mounting bracket installation component was not entirely clear to me but your video resolved that issue.

    If you're trying to install the Ring Floodlight cam (model # 2210C-XYZ) with a 5" base and you need a junction box for it, you'll discover that round junction boxes with 5" diameters are very difficult to find. The large majority of them are 4".
    I finally found one that'll fit. It's the Grainger Surface mount wiring box, 5", White (model # 14G265).
    But, bear in mind that Grainger has really odd hours. They close at 4 pm on weekdays, and they are closed all day Sat and Sun.

    Nice video with clear instructions. I don’t have a junction box so I used the Ring plug in adapter ($20 on Amazon). Just need to run the 20’ cord to an outlet in my garage.

    So far I only have one of the 5 up. ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOXxsTZ3ptV_Pk0fFl8bNZvVqeoqBQFwe My son ran out of time, with motion detector etc. I have it over my garage door. It works great. Have seen a couple of cats, my dogs, when I am out front. And had a bee buzzing around right in front of it. It works very well. It even shows the neighbour's driveway, but only shows movement just past my own, which is very long. I highly recommend them.

    Make sure you lock your breaker panel too. It would be easy to switch that breaker off and render your camera useless

    We inherited our RING floodlight camera when we moved so we don’t have the manual with the QR code. Would be lovely to see a video where the QR code is located on device itself. I haven’t found a single install video yet that can help us.

      the easiest way would be to take the switch out connect the light leg and hot wire and either put the switch back in as a dummy or put a blank plate

    Hi, I found your video very informative. You explain the installation process to an existing recessed junction box but I notice what appears to be a small cut out in the moulded base which suggests that this can also be flush mounted and powered via a surface run cable which enters at the base. Is this correct? I ask because I don't have a recessed junction box as it is not a common feature here 🇬🇧. Many thanks.
    Update: I took a chance on the ring wired floodlight cam plus while on offer & and can confirm that the UK version does have a recess to allow it to be powered from a cable (flex) at the 6 o'clock position. Max 10mm dia cable.

      hi m8 did you need a surface mounted junction box to mount it to the wall in the uk ?

    • @allanb2906
      @allanb2906 8 місяців тому +1

      @@craigbrooks9001 I couldn't find a surface mounted JB that was large enough to take the diameter of the base but small enough to fit on a gutter facia. I could not find a round JB but could find a square one bur it was too large to fit where I wanted to locate. Anyway, a JB wasn't necessary when I realised that the ring base was designed to accept a cable entry at the 6 o'clock position.

      @@craigbrooks9001 Yes, but it isn't obvious from any of the ring literature or from UA-cam videos that there is a recess moulded into the base to accept an external cable rather than through an American style wall JB

    Hello, how much lag time does your camera have before you can see the video? I'm thinking maybe a wired type camera like that would maybe be instant image load when you open your phone. I use driveway sensors to quickly alert me to motions, but I have to wait 15 or 20 seconds sometimes before my phone loads whatever triggered them. That's just enough time to miss whatever it was. I'm using another brand of wireless camera that I'm not to happy with when it comes to alerting me.

    What do you do to stop the lights of vehicles driving passed from activating the light to turn on? Walking passed at that distance doesn't set them off so it is purely the car lights that set it off ALLLLLLLLLL night. Thank you in advance for any help you can offer.
