This man is a f*cking genius! Lou Reed said Cale should be recognised as the Beethoven “or something” of his day and I completely agree, only Cale is better.
I used to play this when my kids were toddlers, and my dear wife would chide me, saying it would scare them. Now they are in their 30s and of course are big Cale and Velvet fans.
Man this album is great, my buddy and wer 21 years old... i remember him saying to me as barracuda played in the backround in his 87 legend "we are probably the only two idiots in Canada playing this album" God i love this guy, i wish people would realize how much he has done for music.. its sad that it has only 263 views thanks for posting great video :)
I'll never understand why people idolized so much Lou Reed which it may had some talent, but compared to Cale, even with producer or avantgarde musician... almost zero. Oh well, Lou Reed is from USA and praise to write "the great rock'n roll american romance", meanwhile Cale is a Welsh... seems stupid, but hell, how many people I heard reject Cale's music and pick up a Lou reed record because "the guy's american, the other's not, don't know..." Bah!!!
I like them both and I agree that Cale is just magnificent and should be appreciated here in the US much more... if it came down to picking one over the other I'd be hard pressed

I had a dream two nights ago where I discovered John Cale was my uncle.
Many dreams don't come true, unfortunately.

Wide eyed one eye fixed on the door... I love this fucking great lyrics the only thing that calms anxiety
Love his brilliancy especially where he put ode to joy over damn life very ironic I love it
Only a true Cale fan would even know that well done
"Then I saw John Cale, he's been looking really great." -Andy Warhol (paraphrased)

The bugger is so goddamn magnetic it is scary. Ever heard anything that powerful from a guy that's alone at the piano?
...me neither.
Cale was a beast on stage back then. I was lucky to see him in the early eighties. Most memorable gig I've every been to. Totally insane.
I love how he says Hello Eurrrrropa!
