Love these vids, and especially that tune that gets me amped to see the rankings. Okay, Bill, you're a beautiful beast. But, let's talk about "flow." As in editing flow. The videos of the riders is where it's at. So, perhaps next edition reduce the ping pong between the shots of the riders and your pretty face. It's not that you ain't got it... you do. But the flow is lacking. So when you say a rider's name, we should see the rider (not you) and their name on the screen. This helps to reinforce the message, which is, introducing the rider. It would be helpful to see Hannah Arensman when you say her name. Also the put the title in at the same time too. This was nicely done with the part about #6 Caitlin Bernstein. Editing flow... don't make it so predictable. The editing shouldn't be noticed (which of course I did notice) because of all the ping pong of shots. When it's smooth, the audience doesn't notice. Love you, Bill.
Hey Vicky. Thanks for the notes and constructive criticism. I will try to incorporate some of what you outlined in the next episode. I do want to shed a little light on some of the decisions that go into the editing. By no means do I want to be on camera more than I need to be. For years I avoided it entirely. But it serves a purpose. When I am at an event, I wear several different hats. Along with the stuff I'm doing for the USCX broadcast, my main responsibility is shooting race photos for clients. That takes about 80 percent of the race. In the other 20 percent, I try to grab some video clips for the heat check. The video is secondary. Nobody is paying me for that part. You could call it my own passion project. The result of juggling two separate mediums is that I don't have enough video coverage of each of the 22 racers in the heat check to fill the whole time frame for their ranking. I would need to hire a full-time second shooter to do that, and again, passion project. So I intersperse the clips of my talking head to fill the gaps. But, regardless, I can always improve the editing "flow," so point taken. The reason that the lower third showing a racer's name may not appear on the first clip is because it has to be on screen for a certain amount of time so people can read it. Sometimes that's longer than the first logical clip. And having a lower third straddle two clips looks odd. So I have to play with the timing. But it's also something that can be improved. In any event, I appreciate the notes and will try to do better next time! -Bill
Honsinger is planning to peak at the World Championship in February. She is intentionally delaying the start of her cx season for more rest after a lengthy road to be better prepared for the rest of cx season.
10/10 new format
Bad puns are always good.
Caleb should drop a spot for that wheelie attempt 😂.
😂. That 45 sec gap on you tired my legs out for wheelies😉🤣
I tried to help out by putting it in slow motion.
Just keeping the top spot warm for Maghalie when she's back and healthy.
Gonna have to start doing top (North) American...

Boo - Sydney McGill 8th and 3rd - algorithm failed her!
Bulletin board material, for sure.
Honsinger not at these races speaks volumes about the state of cyclocross.
