I learn it by ear. However, There are tons of great websites on the net covering this song. The chord progression were pretty simple in the key of Am, going thru the Dm, F & G. & so on & so forth.
However its important to notice that, Klaus used different tunings on his guitar for live show including this version. The guitar was tuned whole step down from the standard E. So you get D G C F A D. If you want to play along with the records like most of my videos (feel free to check them out), I would recommend figuring out the chords 1st, what key it was in, then finally to listen carefully which tunings was in use. Scorpions usually plays Half Step Down (D#) & Whole Step Down (D) in most of their recent live rendition. The only few current songs they really played in standard E was The Good Die Young.
I hope it helps & all the best. Feel free to share your versions if ya record it later

For this song, its D. correct
For other songs, Still Loving You, Wind Of Change, Holiday, etc.. Most of their live versions uses D#

Thanks for checking out my content! More Scorpions on my channel btw 😎👍
Regarding this song, it's a straightforward basic jam. Open Chords, standard strumming pattern up & down strokes & I think it's in standard tuning as well. (I need to re check on that). In a sense, almost anybody can play it. Including beginners.
1 cheat code I always do when I learn any song, is to hear the tuning it's in. Is it in standard E, or half step down to D#, or whole step down to D etc etc. This is very important before we proceed to spend more time learning to play along with the song. Whether it be studio versions or live versions.
Most of the time, our mind will hear as if somethings missing. Or off. Most likely cause we're out of tune. Sort that out 1st.
Then, comes the right hand. To quote the Great Keith Richards, 'you'll need to make the right hand & left hand love each other". Meaning, keeping up the rhythm (strumming hand) alongside your fretting hand while changing chords / doing riffs.
Often time, off tempo strumming also causes our mind to feel like somethings off. Trust your gut (&your ears). If you feel like you're playing is not up to speed, or out of tune.. You're probably right.
Strumming is a method that everybody can do. But to make it right in accordance each song; that's tricky part. It require lots of training & muscle memory.
This song is a good practice for many beginner to start with. It's not as complicated as, let's say.. Metallica rhythm stuff.
So don't worry. Keep on practicing. you're on the right track. All the best!
