Awesome footage of The Dickies. Al's Bar started out as a great underground venue. Then the biased bookings of the same "buddy" bands playing there over and over again started: leaving trains, paper tulips, sluts for hire, the shakes; etc. It became the same clique of friends and bands being booked, while leaving out plenty of other good / better bands not getting booked there because they weren't part of their little social scene. I remember an old buddy of mine who at the time was promoting bands and was in the loop of booking shows in the active venues: Coconut Teaszer, The Garage; etc. had said regarding Al's Bar: "Oh it's "Toast" from the Paper Tulips who does the bookings there. Yeah good luck getting booked for a show there". In the final years of Al's Bar before they shut down, unless you weren't part of their little club there, you weren't going to get the opportunity. In this case, it was a good thing that Al's Bar closed.
Al’s bar! I would say ah, the memories but it’s all a blur.

@@Winston5mith Yep, they were one of the Al's Bar red carpet bands who got to play there virtually every month. Sometimes twice a month.
