Thanks Pete for this video. I've had limited success using the government pension tracing service, partly because the pensions I'm trying to track down are over 20 years old and my old employers no longer have me on their books, and partly because the tracing service could not find the company I worked for or the pension associated with it. I had to do the legwork myself. And given that the service does not tell you whether you had a pension with a particular employer, you might be chasing thin air.
Hahaha shock of a lifetime when I heard my name mentioned as it’s not the most common 😂 I actually am going to look into it for the future. Thanks again for a great video
This new office looks brilliant mate. I LOVE the new intro song ... much much better than the old one!!! Keep up the good work Pete, fantastic content!
*_Great video Pete, been listening to your podcast for ages, so good to see video content also.. Keep crushing it and im going to keep tuning in and listening but more importantly implementing!_*
Hi Tina. Yes we do 1-2-1 advice, but we’re holistic financial planners, so we’re wary of looking at any one aspect of your finances in isolation from the rest. There’s a real risk of misadvising you without the full picture. meaningfulmoney.tv/work-with-pete/
I have just come across your channel and watched a few videos Pete - they are great, although I have been a bit of a honey-bee and floated about inside all the different playlists. Think I might need a more structured approach in future! But I am planning on spending a few hours each Saturday morning addressing different elements. Today I have decided is Pension Day - so I have watched your checklist video above and am inspired to start rummaging in all my pension paperwork. In order to gather the information together in one place - do you have a spreadsheet template that I can use to record all the info I need - just wondered if there was a ready-made one floating around somewhere before I spend a procrastinatory hour creating one of my own! ;-) Thanks Pete! Great channel!!
Currently in the middle of doing exactly this after putting it off for years, and finally becoming financially literate in my late 30s (messy, misspent youth). I had no less than SEVEN pensions floating about; 4 registered at old addresses, and 6 in my maiden name! Alongside my current provider, I've chosen to consolidate my 6 older pensions with the pension provider who offered the best choice of funds. I've diversified the portfolio and increased the risk level. When actually get round to it, its actually really interesting! p.s. Actually, could you do a video about legally changing your name across your finances and what to remember? It's not usually a task that men have to do, but it takes AGES for us ladies when we get married!
Hi Pete, thanks for the video! I am currently working my way through the R0 exams with the CII (2 left!), interesting to learn and hear others talk in a conversational yet informative manner. Would be great to reach out and find how you reached Chartered status to help plan my career progression too! Best of luck with everything!
Wow Ben, that's WAY too big a question for a comment section. The answer is maybe. Try this video and the podcast it's based on: ua-cam.com/video/wcx8DhZzEfg/v-deo.html
My brother in law told me that if I were to get sacked, for whatever reason, I wouldn't be able get my occupational pension until I'm 67. Is this correct? I'm 57 by the way.
There are no funds in the state pension. You get the promise of a future income. And it's paid for by the National Insurance contributions of those who are still working...
Nowonder people are broke in england 800 pound for working 5 years discussing and 66 62 okay but 66 no thats to old nowonder you got all this homeless problem

I'm thinking about doing this myself as I'm in the same boat as you where/are mate. Any tips.

I work in the public sector and have never had any sort of letter regarding my pension, will I get this if I leave the job?

Sounds like you’re doing great work, Mrs Moto! Noted about the name change, though I’m not sure I’m best placed to speak to that!

Hi Pete, great video! Is it worth transferring your old pensions into a SIPP?

what no shots from the '3rd' camera angle?
You spotted that, Phil? Camera fail but not a nice angle anyway!
Could we choose funds in state pension?thanks
Funds in a State pension aren't unit linked :)
There are no funds in the state pension. You get the promise of a future income. And it's paid for by the National Insurance contributions of those who are still working...
thanks both of you
1) check your state pension
You need 35 years of pension to qualify
You need to fill in gaps:
Government pension tracing service
I never got a statement in 5 years :/
That’s not right - need to call your provider. They’re obliged to provide them!
