- Transformers Legacy Evolution continues to bring back the toys of yesteryear in new forms. Armada Megatron has a new version, a Leader Class toy who is a great homage to the original. Speaking of which, we put that toy up against the 2002 original Armada Megatron, who loves to say “Decepticons, attack!” Captain Kyle checks them both out and you decide which is better.
In Transformers Armada, Megatron was leader of the Decepticons and obsessed with finding the Minicons before Optimus Prime and his meddling Autobots did. Gotta catch ‘em all! While his vehicle mode vaguely resembled G2 Megatron, his robot mode had a new non-bucket style of head and he was primed (pardon the pun) to attach lots of Minicons to himself. This new version of Armada Megatron does come with the Leader-1 Minicon, but is similar in form and deco to the original release. Captain Kyle examines each one thoroughly to compare the features and more so you can decide which is better.

One of my fav detail in original is fact Minicon can unlock the Shiv in his arm. I always used this for backstabs xD
This showed up in my recommended videos, and I immediately remembered this toy from my childhood!
the reason the cannon can't turn all the way around is to prevent kids from giving Megatron a member that could rival rotf Dickbot
The Legacy Megs does have a panel under his chest to cover his face in tank mode… must’ve just been mistransformed

i really like this figure. some room for improvement for sure but i think a minicon pack is coming soon. he does have a face plate that if you open up his chest plate he has a face cover that flips up. if he doesnt you have a defective one. the transformation between the two is almost identical lol. his shoulder pilons should have been designed to move forward and backward as a normal shoulder. he needs his knife =( i wish the would have designed his hand transformation like Kingdom Cyclonus and Legacy Devcon so there was no forearm gap. i dont have the original but they both have their strengths and weaknesses but i like the legacy one =) great versus video.
Despite being a brick from the waist down I've got to go with the original. Armada's all about gimmicks for me and the original doesn't disappoint. The 2002 figure was only an Ultra (rrp $25) and it's so much bigger and chunkier than the new leader - it has more presence.
That's not to say I don't like the new figure, and it wins hands down for articulation. I'd only pick it up on clearance though.

I'm in favor of og just because of it having mini con ports. Yeah the powerlinx legacy has the mini con jolt that goes with the non powerlinx armada hot shot but for the fact it don't have ports for mini cons for legacy armada megatron makes me think it's not going to have mini con ports for future armada figures like tidal wave.

If the original only had knees... But even then, he is more substantial 'hand feel' wise. And his feet aren't hollow! 😂

While I loved the gimmicks on the old toys, I appreciate the articulation of the modern figures
1 of my favorite Megatron's as well as g2 and energon I have the galvatron version of the original mode and the combiner wars version of the Megatron if legacy does both will get both . I also got the fanshobby galvatron version now that 1 is sweet I love all versions of this figure

I have to give it to Legacy. While Armada Megatron doesn't really suffer from it I usually feel that the gimmicks and electronics detract from having a good representation of the character, if not completely ruin the figure. Give me a posable figure that looks like I just reached into the screen and pulled him out any day of the week.

I know what gratis means. Lol. I have the Armada Tidal Wave, the Japanes version, and the Energon version.
