That looks amazing! Zulu is also one of my favourite films. As the son of a Welshman, my younger brother and I most definitively watched it more than a few times... we lost my dad in Feb. this year... but I think he would have loved this one and probably would have attempted something similar as a result of watching this video. Thank you for sharing your work!
A fitting tribute to those brave men who were heavily outnumbered. I love the Zulu film and have watched it many times. I remember watching it at the cinema when it first came out.
Another "New CW" video notification and I again know I'm in for a 20 minute (or so) treat. Every time I watch your work I am amazed with the techniques, results and "scratch details". Not to mention how much I will (and have) learn. I mean come on the Zulu shields ... its all comes together so perfectly as the 3rd party observer you know it looks absolutely wonderful but only when you see "behind the scenes" can you see exactly how much thought, skill and patience has gone into the piece. Sir consider my hat well and truly tipped.
A lovely piece of work. Well worth the wait to see the finishing video. Attention to detail is brilliant especially the figures. Even down to the blood on the bayonet. Looking forward to the figure painting tutorial. Thanks for sharing, keep up the great work. Stay safe one and all.
A superb vignette....such emotions shown in so small a diorama. Zulu...a great movie with so many fine English actors....brings back lots of childhood memories. Inspirational work so thank you!
Excellent - It has made me wonder about doing a tribute to one of my great grandfathers who served in the Staffordshire regiment during the 3rd Afghan war... Something for me to consider! Thank you for the inspiration 👍 👍
Absolutely gorgeous! You did a stunning job at bringing the kit components and the self-made stuff together to create this scene. Just recently I had looked at those figures myself since I am interested in the history of the southern half of Africa.
Thanks Michael......The Beneito figure is fantastic (the one on top) and is white metal......I think I'll be buying some more of their figures sometime in the future 👍
The figures and the dio are absolutely stunning. I live in South Africa but confess have no idea what the soil looks like in Rourke's Drift :-) The way you did it looks super cool, though. I love the way you did the base, too. It's very unique and well worth the effort you put into it. Excellent work! - Trevor
Most enjoyable. Having visited Isandlwana several times over the years, may I offer my observations please. The soil around that area of Natal is Murram, a red dusty soil made more vivid after rain. Elephant grass covers the area of Rorke' Drift and rather than looking like scrubland the shortest grass is waist height! I hope this helps for the future. Bravo!
Great stuff very impressive. Been meaning to do something similar for a while so I have ordered these figures. I lived in South Africa for a couple of years and have been to Rorke's Drift . Just an observation , the soil could be a lot darker . I need to get some practice in before attempting this though as it is quite a few years since I painted any miniatures :-( Looking forward to your video of the painting of the soldiers.
Like that you kept to the historical facts ...tea stained helmets etc ....not like the films !...I think in the film they even got some of the Martini Henry rifles wrong ...oh well it was the 60’s ....great job I like the defence scene ,wagon etc ....
Excellent work, i am stealing some ideas from this, the Jute grass i have actually never seen before, its a very good idea. Loved the dio almost as much as i love the movie, well done mate 👍👍👍
A great tribute to a brilliant film, maybe a suggestion for another one, have you seen the man who would be king? ( Sean Connery and Michael Kane) anyway, thanks for sharing
Do you know that when I was in the Royal Australian Engineers over 40 years ago, that they used to screen the movie as part of their training curriculum?
Bloody hell Ian what a beautiful little Dio a clip of history close to my heart being half Welsh I can't remember how many times I've watched the movie I would like to send you a kit I got in the stock model show pm your full name and address and I will get it off to you take care my dear friend 👍👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏✌️🐑😁😂
Cheers Neil 👍 ...........thanks for the offer mate but I'm not a gift receiver sort of modeller, I hope that doesn't offend 👍..............unless Rye Field models want to send me all their new kits, hahaha
Great ! It's a real pleasure to look your work !

Beautiful piece of work, so realistic. Making dioramas is an art in itself and you, sir, are a master.
