Shark Tank US | OatMeals Entrepreneur Is 'Stuck In The Wrong Business Model'
/ sptv
If Barbara wants me. She has me!
We all joke about her always going out but when she truly likes the product, the vision, and the entrepreneur, she makes an offer. I wouldn’t turn Barbara down, ever!
She is literally the smartest shark. Impressive woman I love that she can take a joke, her intelligence poise, feels the entrepreneur first and works extremely hard much respect to Barbara ❤️
Absolutely, if i have an offer from barbara that's a no brainer i would be a fool not to say yes.
And that's the reason i'm out.
Barbara was the better partner
Was it better though? She basically wants 50% of the cart business for a reason. Once the cart business launches, its gonna outsell the restaurant. It's not gonna force people to come to one single location plus they could have multiple carts in diff locations without the hefty setup costs of a restraunt chain.
@@wolverineiscool7161I wish she countered like 30%.
Lol, Mark is hilarious 1:08, he says it 3 times.
😂 the 3rd feed me was desperate ☠️ 🤣
Amazingly enough, I think Barbara made the much better offer here. I can’t believe I just said that!

@@wolverineiscool7161the restaurant closed anyway and she has no cart business.
U can’t believe? You’ll have to watch again, most of her deal has mostly been a good rate.
You didn’t say it, it’s just your imagination.
*SHE MUST REALLLLLYYY LIKE OAT MEAL*
UPDATE, the deal with Lori never closed, Oatmeals closed in January of 2021.....While OatMeals continued to serve its clientele even after the "Shark Tank" deal with Lori Greiner fell through, the cafe would close in January 2021. According to the brand's website, the closure was a result of the same challenges that many independent businesses faced, particularly restaurants, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Honestly that’s what she deserves should’ve chosen Barbara she always been smarter than Lori is an airhead she makes me sick her deals literally never make any sense
they can thank the US government for that!
So looks like Barbs deal would have fell through as well probably due to all the offices closing during the pandemmy
@@asian1599the government gave small businesses tens of thousand of dollars to remain afloat. If that wasn’t enough, the company was doomed to begin with
@@wwe8620 yea bro they can stay in afloat when no one is allowed to set foot in their business
even when mark simplified the terms of the offers, she picked the wrong deal
No wonder her bussiness failed
The men were trying to simply and hint at Barbara being better
She heard Starbuck and Lori's name, she forgot everything else
Bet if she went with Barbara and the cart idea, she'd still be open through the pandemic. Restaurants have overhead and employees, she wanted Laurie no matter what. I think she already wanted her product in a store and that's not feasible as Mr. Wonderful said.
She was the better partner
What exactly is unique about her cart business oatmeal and generic oatmeal? It's really enough to sell it? Lori sells to people on QVC that buy turds because of the marketing. That's where I'd try my product everyone has like oatmeal.
Barbara was awesome here. Super underrated. No wonder Mark said she's his favorite shark.
Her food entrepreneurs are mostly hits!
Mark absolutely respects Barbara like she is his mom 🥹
She is Marks favorite because she’s always out
@@clownwrld7oh shut up..clown
Really underrated..but do you think she cares what clowns with no money thinks about her?? She is the one with the money😅
The one time Barbara actually makes an offer, it was a damn good one. That oat lady made a mistake going with Lori.
I swear she makes more offers than Daymond and Mark Cuban
@khandadonb111 not mark daymond. He only makes offer to black entrepreneurs

The Mr. Wonderful pull string doll Kenner is coming out with has added this. Among others.
'OH, cry me a river Barb''
'All roads lead back to Mr. Wonderful!'
'I wouldn't allow my worst opponent to accept that offer!'
'OH just shut up and kiss me Barb!'
'Did somebody just say royalty deal?'
'50 percent of zero is zero!'
'Put up or shut up barb!'
'Hey Barb, dont tell them Im greedy! I'm the only shark here with an offer!'
'You call that an offer Mark?'
Technically she could have taken both offers with Lori for the potential deal for Star Bucks & Barb for the truck . . . Totally different businesses
This is why negotiation skills is important
but that's not how shark tank works
True
At what equity?
try to go with two completely different models at once? Yeah then she be more screwed. But idk if you can go worse then closing your business so...
I've never seen Barbara express this much interest in a Pitch before. I think Barbara's offer had more foresight and potential.
I think Barbara had a great idea. Oatmeal sold from a cart in offices, schools, etc. What a great idea! I don't like Lori's idea at all. Frozen oatmeal? NO!
exactly. it wouldn't taste good. also, refrigerator space in retail is brutal
Barbara had a better idea and she has tons of experience with restaurants; selling a frozen, non-customized food is a completely different business model and a completely different experience-I don’t think the owner really thought about that, it was just the thought of getting into Starbucks and having that immediate broad reach; I also don’t love Lori’s response to Barb, I feel like it has never been more clear to me than from her attitude that some investors really don’t care about the people/ businesses that they invest in, Barb being angry that she sent the girl down the wrong path, with the wrong model, and was going to cause her to fail or lose money shows that she actually cared about more than the fact that she personally didn’t get the deal
Mark @ 9:23 was really trying to get the oatmeal lady to see the difference in the offers. Good one 👏
I love how Mark always gives genuine good advice.
Barbara's offer was to sell the same product she was already selling but to more people on a larger scale. Lori's offer was to make a completely new product with preservatives that would last for days or even months and sell it to a someone who we don't even know about this product.
i am actually so sad the business closed down. i really wanted to try her savory meals based on the sharks reactions
yeah, the sharks took several bites lol
@@sabertoothmeowsi they inhaled it
i think she didn't quite understand the offer from barbara. it's 50% only for the cart business which is completely new.. she still can have 100% in her store business.. that's mean barbara willing to be 1/2 partner with her from scratch even thought the product is already existing while she can still running her store by herself
She should have asked to have both Lori and Barbara on board. Lori for Starbucks and Barbara for trucks both made good track records in those two respective fields.
don't worry guys. her business is now closed and she regret her decision every single day.
She said she was working in the “Investment Banking World for many years as a personal assistant.”
In reality, she was working in the personal assistant world, for an investment banker - and, it showed.
Agreed, but that's what you have to do to sell yourself.
@@markkostka6897 … no. What you have to do is persuade. But, when you mis-speak and call one thing another, which it really isn’t, you lose trust.
They saw that.
When you say, “that’s what you have to do…” you use the word “that”. Because of how many things “that” can refer to, it’s ambiguous what you mean. Now I not you have to do the work as the reader to insert the actual concept you do mean when you say “that”.
I said “persuade”. Perhaps “persuade” is more accurate than “that”. But that’s my opinion.
For me I wouldn’t trust what you say because just as easily as I could interpret your meaning as “persuade”, I could interpret your meaning as referring right back to the comment I quoted. So, you saying “that” meaning the quote - what she said. But, that’s the ironic bc it didn’t work : she didn’t sell - contradicting what you said.
@@markkostka6897 … Shark Tank isn’t about selling *yourself* …
It’s about selling your product or company, at least some of it , in return for investment.
Lying to potential investors, especially when it’s obvious because the story unravels, works against you rather than for you.
She said "executive assistant".
She should be selling this to the AIRLINES!!! IT'S PERFECT for that!
1:08 feed me is crazyyyy 😭😭😭
Barbara was the gold mine here...❤❤❤
Invest with Barbara
"$40k? I know rats Who make more than that ! " Kevin is brutal
I thought she should go with Barbara but try to lower her percentage.
In addition to being smart, savvy, and capable, Lori is so precious.
My brother in chrost she didn't follow through with the deal
Jokes aside Barbara is probably a great partner. She seems extremely involved in the products/companies she gets involved with. Hence why she’s probably so picky.
she heard "Bantam Bagels" and had lofty dreams of grandeur...honestly Barbs approach would be safer and better as it would be growing slowly and progressively on familiar soil, rather than the switch of product which would immediately reach national demand which honestly sounds too good to be true with this business
I bet she regrets this decision everyday she wakes up
Sometimes it's not about the offer, it's about the individual
barb offer was better and less risky..
It wouldn't be a Barbara offer if she didn't mention her success with Cousins Maine Lobster.
anyone can replicate this lol, its basically like doing an acai business but instead with oats as the base
bro if the food taste good i will eat it whenever i feel like it, i dont get people eating specific food for break fast launch etc just eat what ever you like whenever you like
Barbara totally had the better idea
I mean, fine, she doesn't like Barbara. What's stopping her from nonetheless going forth with the food carts? Lol
Samy was a dreamer, her reaction at 6:24 tells it all
Lunch is going crazy today
Stop with this useless tired copycat crap
“I guess we’re not on planet earth” kevin at the end lol
I cannot believe she went with Lori.............. I want to see how it went but idk, I have a feeling it would've went amazing with Barbara.
@noelcovarrubias7490 the deal never materialized with Lori. The brick and mortar restaurant closed down in 2021. She still is a spokesperson Quaker Oatmeal and she has gone back into workforce. Her business website is still up.
@@patrickfranks2734 Yup I kknew it, shoulda taken the deal with Barbara. That was a waaaaay better idea.
Barbara is wrong about steel cut oats not being good the next day. I make a big batch in my rice cooker at the beginning of the week, and they hold up great in the fridge for at least 4 days. I just add a generous splash of milk, microwave for 1 minute, stir, 1 minute more. My favorite topping combo is banana, blueberries, toasted walnuts, and honey. YUM.
Once I heard she was selling this in stores I was thinking where tf is this selling. Then she said Grenich in manhattan and it all made sense. I’m sure it’s taste great but I can’t see the everyday ppl buying it in stores unless it’s manhattan or Williamsburg😂
Barbara priced herself out of a deal. But I think she was probably the best Shark.
I'm with Mr. Wonderful - oatmeal is at best a breakfast food. Of course, down here in the South (including Texas), grits are standard rather than oatmeal. Specialty restaurants such as Yolk that focus on egg dishes and close for the day after brunch seem to be fairly popular.
“Feed me, feed me….feed me” lmaoo im dead @mark cuban
Happy lunch everyone 🎉😂
Loris deal was stinky
The thing I hate about the show is the "music" and I use that term loosely. It really isn't necessary makes it hard for me to hear what people are saying.
Clean your ears
@@emprabrea Well I have moderate to severe hearing loss. I wear a headset when watching to UA-cam. But the music is a huge distraction.
I've never seen Mark so eager to be fed 😂
She started off with a lie. I have no connection to oatmeal. I never had it growing up and have had it only a few times as an adult.
But you're a nobody so
Smart deal. Take Lori’s offer, see what works and then also implement Barbara’s idea without cutting her in for 50%.
😂😂 you're smart
Yes just find another investor
One decision cost her everything.
Terrible mistake. If only she had went with Barbara, the business might have survived because she would still had the truck
What happened to OatMeals on Shark Tank?
Due to the business impact of Covid-19, Sam closed OatMeals on January 24th, 2021. She is continuing to work with Quaker Oats, spreading oatmeal versatility with the world. She is also working on a recipe blog and cookbook so she can share her inventive recipes with OatMeals' fans from around the world.
9:20 Mark even spelt it out for her and she still took the wrong deal.
Lmao, everyone was surprised when Lori picked
There are rats making more than that a year. Haha
As a person who’s been at Starbucks for 5 years while bantam bagels were still a thing, I never saw us change our oatmeal lol. So of course they never closed the deal.
Also bantam bagels were discounted at Bux some time ago.
Barbara doesn't invest because even if she brings an amazing idea the entrepreneur never picks her :,(
I can't believe she didn't go with Barbara here.
When I hear Barbara talk I just hear Frenchie from Grease
I learned that her business closed due to COVID but thinking about it, having a cart during the pandemic would've been KILLER for the business being able to go to people's houses and serving them food traveling
Lori acts like she is the liason for Starbucks. She got one product, bantam bagels, in there and always acts like she can do the same for everything else. It's such a misleading pitch. Bantam bagels even today aint even in Starbucks anymore.
I agree with most that Barbara actually had the better deal and idea. She honestly went in for Lori from the beginning.
Barbara and Daymon always get sharked by the other sharks and usually only offer on something they really believe in.
my name is barbara and for that reason i'm out unless you remind me of me when i was younger then i'm in. oat meals is the wrong name because they're really oat bowls like acai bowls - the public didn't know what they were buying.
did anyone notice lori’s notes lmao
Too bad she didn’t explain why are oats so good or beneficial..
I think oatmeal is good for a snack at night and I'm about to have some. I like blueberries and strawberries in it it is like dessert
Jokes apart Barbara’s offers are really genuine 👏
why are people so mean? sam kept a business open for over 6 years in the heart of nyc, thats f'in hard! you try doing that, you wouldnt last 3 months. she has a great product. she's smart enough to get on shark tank, beating out thousands and thousands of other hopefuls. she got TWO offers from sharks. i believe she went with lori simply bec lori said "33%" and barbara said "50%". barbara's new business model idea wouldnt affect the store, but the thought of expanding into starbucks was too tempting for sam. and lori seemed so genuine and passionate and has a great track record. barbara's the 1 who is always out. and sometimes that works against her when making an offer. would you rather go with lori who has sold tons of great products and has amazing connections or barbara who rarely makes deals and always comes up with ridiculous excuses why she's out? i dont blame sam 1 bit. she's amazing that she got this far. covid killed her business, otherwise she'd still be making those bowls of oatmeal today. i dunno what happened with lori and why deal didnt close. there are great success stories on ST. unfortunately this isnt 1 of them. but i hope sam found some new calling in life after all this went down.
Shark tank during breakfast?!? I guess so!
She should have gone with the food trucks.
Lori probably heard of glyphosate , its not healthy now
At this point, been binge-watching Shark Tank episodes for years. In this episode, I think, Barbara's so IN to her business that plans to get it to be more profitable if it is pushed through... I wonder if she took that path with Barbara, it could have been probably a different outcome to this day. Sadly, business of her's, is no more
Barbara is like that poker play who folds every hand and then here betbig when she had a winner.. Shame she got shut down stupidly by frozen oats lady
I hate saying this but she should've went with Barbara (I'm out) Corcoran even though most of the deals she makes on ST never close. Lori should've just quit here instead of selling fish in the sea.
The last time I checked Barbara has the highest percentage of closed deals on Shark Tank. That's based on their websites.
@@ayawkolba Do you know how to interpret data? Barbara makes the least offers on ST. and has limited financial resources compared with the other sharks. This means she'll most probably close those deals where she's paying very little and owning more shares than the entrepreneur would like to give. She doesn't understand most businesses and invests in entrepreneurs who are almost autonomous. Other sharks take way more risk and level of involvement running the business. They make higher offers in terms of invested cash which makes them more picky when the time comes to look at the balance sheet, income statement, and cash flow statement during the closing stage. When Kevin offers 500k in exchange for 7% share in a business, he has all the reasons to dig deeper. But when Barbara offers 50k in exchange for 25% she's less likely to walk away from the deal.
Go look up the deal Barbara closed and promised to make the entrepreneur a millionaire to never return the entrepreneur's calls after the episode. They didn't even meet to close the deal, she just never got in touch with the entrepreneur. She's horrible.
Jesus christ bantam Bagels again they are a failed business they closed so many stores.
LOL
Barbara made the better offer
Everyone has some connection to oatmeal is such a strange and inaccurate statement
Who's inviting Daimond for the show?
she should 've take Barbara offer over Lori

I’d buy it just because of her voice. So soothing and morning-like.

Sam was high when she made this deal...
Why not accept both offers and take $1m??? They are not competing offers Sammy!
Well, Lori was going to invest in the entire company. Barbara wanted 50% of her potential cart route. So basically, her company is making just 50% off of the cart gig. 33% of that 50% goes to Lori.
The name was an Initial mistake.
Dumb move , never do buisness on contigency ...😮
Intro sound like Burnout 2 Point Of Impact music 🤔
Only in America can you turn oatmeal into something so unexpected and expensive.
Take that haters 😊
There are rats that make more money than that
Oatmeal... meals.. should be more available. It's so cheap, I'm surprised restaurants don't try to incorporate it.
I love how not much is $40 grand. I work my @ss off for that as an electrician.
